We have a 9:00am ADR at Boma. I'm guessing we should leave the Poly around 8:00. Can we take the monorail to MK and then get a bus to AKL or will it be too early? Should we take a taxi instead?

The buses from the Animal Kingdom Lodge will have already been operating before 8:00 AM, however a taxi will get you there a lot faster and might be worth the money.

Have the rooms at the Poly been renovated lately?? Last time we stayed they were very rundown...Also what about the lobby area??

We stayed at the Poly in April of 2007 and decided to go to the WL last December. We have young kids (5, 4 and 1). The boat was nice, but my husband is adamant that we stay at a resort attached to the monorail next time. So the plan is to have a grand gathering with our family, my sister and BIL and some friends the first week of Dec. 2010. My older daughter thought the Poly was much nicer than the WL. And if the kids are happy, we're happy, so that's where we plan to stay. We'll need the next 20 months to save, I think. :)

Sounds sooooo fun! Good luck with your plans

From experience, I would say to save yourself time and stress and take a cab from Poly to AKL. It'll take 10-12min and cost about $12 + tip (if I remember correctly...) Good luck! Breakfast at Boma is so good!!

Also what about the lobby area??

I love, love, love the Poly lobby. It is so tranquil and beautiful. The children's area is the best. DD and I would hang out there for hours while dh napped and she would color, meet other kiddos and do crafts with the Poly staff. I would sit there and enjoy a beverage in my refillable mug and watch the classic cartoons and people watch. I especially love to watch people walk into the lobby to check in and see their expressions. It was extra special during our last trip because of the Christmas decor...:lovestruc

I agree. Walking into the lobby the first day of the trip makes every problem or worries go away. :goodvibes

My kids loved the Poly lobby. I'm especially eager to see how it is decorated for the holidays. The WL was gorgeous. The difference to me between the two resorts, though, is that WL is awe-inspiring. Poly is more relaxing. More "ahh" than "ooh." If that makes any sense at all.

I thought it looked a little rough around the edges and the smell was musty....hmmmmm interesting....

Isn't it though? It's got that distinctive smell...kinda like Pirates of the Caribbean. :lmao: Brings back so many great memories. :goodvibes

My blood pressure drops a few points instantly as soon as I stroll in there. I swear it does.

It definitely makes sense. :thumbsup2 That's why I love the Poly. It's so relaxing and for a Type-A like me that is very important in a vacation.

And here are some photos I took this past Christmas at the Poly:

Funny thing as that the last two days of our last trip we stayed in Hawaii and I missed the Poly lobby. I loved the Club lounge and all the food and drinks but the main lobby atmosphere is so amazing. I think in our past two trips we spent more awake hours hanging in the lobby and Tambu lounge than in our room.

My husband has a very stressful job and is working on his MBA and let's just say he is a tense most of the time. In the past two trips we walk off the plane, head to ME and as we head to the Poly I see the stress start to melt and then we enter the lobby and instantly he is in vacation mode. He does not check his e-mail (xcept for a radom sporting game result:headache: ) he doea not call work and he leaves anything work or school related at home and actually relaxes.

For this reason, I love the Poly so much:thumbsup2

I hate that Ohana got rid of the cheesy potatos. I no longer eat there because of it.
Why do the keep changing the menu?

Why is there hot tub at the poly?

Thanks for the pics MsStinkerBelle

BreezysMom That's a cute story about your husband :lovestruc The Polynesian is soooo relaxing, I agree :cloud9: I'm taking my SIL for Spring Break and she is beside herself! It's her favorite.

I agree with all of you. My DH is a classic type A too and just totally relaxes at the Polynesian. And we all sigh when we walk in the door....ahhh.

MsStinkerBelle, love those pictures!:surfweb:

megveg, the mugs can not be used for Dole Whips.;) But you can use a snack credit for one if you happen to be on a dining plan.
