Well, we came back from our first stay at the Poly and I'm back with just a couple notes and I'll gladly answer any questions you may have. :goodvibes

1) I tried the Tonga Toast and would definitely have it again although it is extremely greasy.

2) I loved the Dole Whip being there so handy!

3) The pool was great, but I desperately missed the hot tub being there. For the first time ever, I considered doing some pool hopping but didn't follow through. I just froze in the regular pool.

4) I was extremely impressed with the beach area, it was truly lovely at night.

5) I was also extremely impressed with the food court. The food was delicious!

6) Compared to the other Disney hotels I have stayed at, the Mousekeeping was horrible. I felt like they didn't do anything other than make beds. Not like other resorts at all.

7) Be very careful when using the Wake Up Call system. Our first evening there, our whole family took a nap and we placed wake up calls so we would be able to make our ADR at Ohana. Unfortunately, neither call made it through and we overslept by almost an hour. :scared1: Luckily, we were still able to get into Ohana. When we got back to our room after dinner, I called front desk and they advised that no Wake Up Call had been made for either room. It had. So, I spoke to them to place another one for both rooms for the next morning. The next morning, the phone rung and both rooms picked up to dead silence. Another day, the phone rung and we heard half of the Stitch Wake Up Call, then the phone went dead. Not one day did it go completely through. It was a little sad 'cause I wanted another first timer to hear it... also inconvenient.

All in all, it was an amazing trip. The resort was absolutely beautiful and the first deluxe hotel at Disney we have ever stayed at. I think I will be trying another one in the future though :goodvibes

NOT a fan of Tonga Toast. I ordered it once and only ate half because I didn't care for it.

There ... I said it. I'm here and I'm proud. Get used to it.

I have to admit I'm not a Tonga fan either.

I tried it last trip...I think i'd like it better if it didn't have so much sugar coating the outside of it..Didn't hate it, but next time, I'm trying the pineapple macadamia pancakes!:thumbsup2

The key to eating Tonga Toast is getting a side of bacon or sausage to cut the sweetness and give you protein to keep from going into sugar shock:thumbsup2

FWIW--My DH doesn't like it either. I love it. After eating that for breakfast, I am good to go until dinner as it keeps me full all day.

Someone posted that some rooms have daybeds.......actually all rooms have two queens and a daybed. Suites are different of course.

Dole whips are lost on me. Nevertheless, I think adding that machine to CC was a great addition.

I love Tonga Toast but in small bits. My DH usually gives me a small portion of his. This past trip I split an order with my DD though...decadent!:scared1:

We finally get to stay at the Poly thanks to the 4/3 deal... :woohoo:

I'm thinking of not making a request and leaving my room assignment up to the Pixie Dust of Tink.:tinker: If she happens to need a refill before getting to me, what would you think the worst room would be?

I just can't imagine that there would be a bad room at this resort! It's just so beautiful in the pictures!!!

For those of you who have used the Neverland Club: Can you charge the payment to your room bill? If not, can I use my Disney Reward card to pay? I gave them my cc number for the reservation hold but I would like to pay for it ultimately with the reward card.

TIA:goodvibes

Please tell me the creamy pina colada's (not the pina colava) are still being served at the Poly :drinking1 We are looking forward to having at least one per night

Hi. Your CC is just to guarantee the reservation and will be charged if you were a no-show.
When you pick your child/ren up you can charge it to your room :thumbsup2 In fact, they will ask you when you drop the child/ren off how you'd like to pay.
Neverland Club is GREAT!

Ok, wait a minute - am I reading these bits and pieces correct? A Dole Whip machine has been placed on property? Makes sense, really... Now where is it, and when did they do that?

Thank you! That is exactly what I needed to know:goodvibes

It is in CCs next to the drink machine if I remember correctly. They put it in when they remodeled CCs a few years ago.

The self-serve Dole Whip machine is in Capt. Cook's. It's next to the glass-front coolers that hold the grab-n-go foods and the milk and stuff like that. It's not out by the soft drink fountain dispensers. You have to pay to buy a cup at the cash register, and only then can you go back and serve yourself.

It dispenses pineapple soft serve, vanilla soft serve, and a twist of the two.

My DD is SO looking forward to this. In fact, I suspect it's one of the main reasons why she politely asked (many times) to stay at the Poly this April!:rotfl:

I recommend ordering the Tonga Toast without the banana filling. I even use syrup on mine. Proudly upholding a Polynesian tradition...

Don't forget you first need to order the Dole Whip on the self serve kiosk, then you would pay for it at the cash and then get the cup from there to fill it up.

Yeah, but can't you just lean your head back, right under the valves, and turn when nobody's lookin'? Like late at night - and probably after a full day with kids in the hot sun?
