Since I booked the cheapest room available, I expect that my view will not be very nice.

The Garden Views at the Poly can be quite nice too--there really are no 'bad' room locations or views. The walking distances to the beach, pools or GCH are not long at all, no matter which longhouse you end up with. We had a GV during one early May trip, and the scent of the Gardenias in bloom was just heavenly! Some GV rooms even have a sideways view of the water. Below is a photo of the view we had from our 2nd floor Tahiti GV room.

Darn about the torch lighting!! We missed that last time and were hoping to catch it this time. So sorry for any CM's losing their jobs. this economy just stinks!

I am extremely sorry for those cast members. Does anyone know what time the Torch Lighting Ceremony is on Saturday?

Can anyone tell me anything about the pack n play at the Poly? Do I need to bring a sheet for it? Also do they have high chairs available at all. Our son will be turning 1 during our trip and since we are traveling with 2 under 4, I am trying to bring the least amount of things possible. Thanks!

The Polynesian has small cribs. They do supply a sheet...or at least did when our children were babies. Of course, they're all in their 20s now. But seriously, I'm sure a sheet is still supplied as I've seen those cribs in the halls with a sheet. I always took my own little blanket/quilt.

Sorry, I don't know about high chairs.

Haven't stayed at Poly yet, but at 2 other Disney Deluxe resorts. We had a crib brought to the room that had sheets & I think a small blanket, too. We did bring our DD's blankie with us, so she used that as well.

We asked for a high-chair and got one of those, too.

Yes - those are the noodles - I know this because I practically lived on them when we were there in October - they are delish!!!!!

Thanks FreFam5! I so hope they will still be the same (and there!) when we go. I realize they do change things, but it stinks when it's a fave! Thanks for the help!

Just wanted to sign on and say that DH and I are scheduled for Poly in early March--taking adv. of the Platinum Package sale to do a "just-the-two-of-us" late 10th anniversary trip for a long weekend (3 nights--we start to miss our little guy too much to be away from him any longer than that). We've never stayed at Poly before, never done V&A's (already got an ADR there for the trip), never had a spa treatment, never done a tour--this will be filled with firsts and we're sooo excited!

BUT . . . if the DCL promo they're supposed to release tomorrow ends up being out-of-this-world, and if you have to do it in early 2009, we may end up doing a cruise with our DS instead and take an anniversary trip later in the year. We'll see how good it is . . .

I am wondering about how long the walk would be to the Great Ceremonial House and the Volcano pool from the longhouse that's farthest away. I imagine that's where my room will be since I've booked this package. It's the only way I'll ever get to stay at the Poly.

We just returned from our first trip to the Poly (11/19-11-25) with a Garden view room. We stayed in Tokelau and it was a perfect spot for us. Just steps away from the quiet pool, really close to the TTC, and not far from the GCH! Here was the view from our balcony:

We just returned from our first trip to the Poly (11/19-11-25) with a Garden view room. We stayed in Tokelau and it was a perfect spot for us. Just steps away from the quiet pool, really close to the TTC, and not far from the GCH! Here was the view from our balcony:-Kelly

I'm glad you had a nice time at the Poly! And your room view is really beautiful -- the gardens at the Poly are so lush and tropical! Thanks for posting the photo -- it really helps for those of us with months more to go feel like we're getting closer and closer to the Poly!

Walking to work in the cold winter weather I was thinking about sunny Florida and the possibility of swimming in a pool and came up with the following question.

I guess there will be pool towels available at the Volcano Pool, but will there also be towels at the quiet pool?

There are towels at the volcano pool and I want to say they had them at the quiet pool, however I don't remember if there was.

Does anyone know if adjoining rooms are available in all of the buildings? We stayed at the Poly on our last trip (May 2007) and have just booked again for this upcoming May. This time we are bringing my parents. I noticed on the booking page that you can request adjoining rooms or nearby rooms. We have two separate reservations. I think we would prefer adjoining rooms but nearby rooms would also be fine. Last trip I followed the advice of this board and requested Samoa building, volcano pool side, 1st or 3rd floor. The request was noted in my reservation and I faxed it the week before our trip directly to the Poly. Our request was granted and we had a great 3rd floor room overlooking the volcano pool. We would love to make the same request again but I'm not sure if there are adjoining rooms in Samoa?

Also, does anyone know the approximate rate of the building/room requests being granted? Our last trip we got the request but my brother-in-law and family just went this past October and they made the same request I did and did not get it. Now I told my SIL exactly what to do including the faxing but I'm not sure she followed the steps correctly as she is a bit ditzy.

I'm almost 100% positive that we've had rooms in Samoa with a connecting door.

Once when we were checking in, the CM told me that we were in Samoa (I didn't request it) and that it was the most requested building of all. Since it's a relatively small building, I imagine it's quite common not to get that request. So I think you were lucky and your SIL wasn't.

For the past 3 years we have requested Samoa - following the exact same criteria that you mentioned (reservation & fax etc...). Our request was honored for 2 of the 3 years. However, last week when we checked in, Samoa was not available at all. We ended up with connecting rooms on the 2nd floor in Rarotonga. I don't think our connecting-room request was the problem, because the CM called to check for ANYTHING in Samoa, and nothing was available.

At first I was really disappointed, but it ended up being just fine. With the cooler weather in December, we didn't do much swimming and didn't miss a balcony. Plus, it was great to be so close to the GCH.

I guess 2 out of 3 ain't bad!

Don't worry -- there are really very few bad views at the Poly!! Most of the garden views are lush and gorgeous. If you do end up in Tahiti or Rapa Nui (the further longhouses from the GCH -- maybe a 5 min. walk if that), you'll have the benefit of being very close to the TTC, which is nice. Plus, the rooms in those buildings (along with Tokelau) are the largest at the resort (476 sq. feet) and the second and third floors all have balconies. And if you have a car, there's a small lot right outside Rapa Nui, which is great.

We have stayed in MK view, LVC and garden and have no problem with garden view. In fact, we're spending 3 nights in a GV room in 2 weeks!

Enjoy your trip -- I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised with your view!
