Not sure, but I'm thrilled to be able to say a month from yesterday, we'll be checking into the Poly! :dance3: It seems like forever ago since we booked the trip and it still hasn't sunk in that we'll be there soon. I can almost start pre-packing now...DD10 asked why I haven't started yet because usually I start about 6 weeks before we go! :rolleyes1 But in my denfense, we live in WI and when the "summer clothes" are no longer needed, I start "packing" them for Disney instead of storing in the basement for a few weeks when I have to bring the fall clothes up. I may not have the suitcases out yet but I do have some Disney "things" set aside, and I've started my official "must buy" and "don't forget to pack" lists.

I just can't wait to see my parent's faces when we step off the ME bus next month. I think they will be as awestruck as we were last year when we stepped off that bus...

Come on, Poly!!! :cheer2:

hi everyone- just stopping by. I haven't been here much lately- very busy in my real life- ha!! I look forward to my trip so far away. I hope everyone is doing okay!!

oh yea- hubby and I are taking a short 4 day vacation to the world the first week of december. We are staying at AS Sports- got such a great room only package- couldn't pass that up. Just need to get away!!

Happy anniversary too!party:

Enjoy your full house again this weekend. :grouphug: I wish our daughter had a Fall break.:sad1:

Thanks and we will enjoy our few days with them. . .as they whine about there being nothing to do at home. . .LOL I'm very happy they are so well acclimated to school!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TESS:cheer2: :bday:

Thanks!

Can I get some opinions? :)

We've got a reservation for LVC next September. I'll be turning 40 on the trip, so dh said we should splurge (we usually do a basic garden room). We've stayed LVC once before (for our 15th anniversary) and while we didn't use the lounge much (mostly for breakfast and dessert at night), we LOVED our third floor room and the view it gave us. We also liked the great location of the Hawaii building. :thumbsup2

Now, the frugal side of me is thinking that maybe we should just go with a regular MK view room, rather than spending the extra $700 on club level. Any opinions on whether the club level is worth it? I mean, are the views of the MK that much better from there, or should we just take our chances with regular MK view?

My other concern is that we might have a better chance of getting a balcony if we just do a regular room in one of several buildings vs. the limited amount on the 3rd floor of the Hawaii building. (I HAVE to have my balcony! ;) )

Plus, in Tikiman's last email, he was saying there've been lots of not-so-great reviews of club level at the Poly lately. I'm really confused!

So, I would love to know what you all would recommend ... TIA!!

LOL - I have already put some of our "summer clothes" in a suitcase so I don't have to go looking for them when it is time to pack for our February trip! (Although I may have jumped too soon since it is going to be near 80 degrees here tomorrow!) Isn't living in WI wonderful?

Hello,
I just wanted to stop in and share some of my good news with those who will appreciate it!
I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon to go down for a 40th birthday trip, just me and DH. It's the first time that me and DH have been away together for about 14 years. My girls are very upset they're not going back to Disney this year (we usually go annually).
Anyway, a super nice DISer who is also a CM PM'd me and asked me my information about when my trip was, etc.
I sent all the info expecting nothing.

Well, I dropped DH off at the airport this morning (I'm in nursing school, I had two tests today and tomorrow I have my clinical in the morning) and he called me around 3:00 today. He said when he walked in the CM checking him in said, Good News! You've been Upgraded! Well, DH was excited, but really didn't know what he would be upgraded to....

He gets in the room and the shades were drawn. He pulls back the curtains and what did his wondering eyes spy?
THE CASTLE AND SPACE MOUNTAIN!!!!!!!
We got a "Lagoon View" room, but it's a perfect view of the Magic Kingdom :woohoo:

He sent me a photo via cell phone and you can barely make it out, but he said he'll send another one while he's watching the fireworks.

We are so excited. I really can't believe it!!!!!!! It's like hitting Lotto!!!!
BTW, I did want to reserve the theme park view room, but decided that it wasn't in the budget this time since I'm in school and I had to cut back on my hours at work, you know the story....

I'll post pics when I return!

Thanks for listening! No one else cares :sad2: (they're not DIS'ers!!!)

Congrats on the upgrade and Happy Birthday. I will be 40 Dec 27. We too have not been back to wdw by ourselves since our honeymoon 20 years ago next summer. We are going to book the Poly but are taking our girls because like yours they are used to going every year and we can't swing another trip. We are planning dinner by ourselves on our BIG night but it will be ok b/c our teens can watch her. Can't wait. You two enjoy your time togeth
er. I know we will ONE day.

That is the perfect start to a wonderful trip for the two of you. Enjoy yourselves!! :goodvibes

Is the MK view your greatest desire for this stay? If so, then heck yeah--save the money request a room in Tahiti and you will have your balcony. If the view is not the priority, why not book a GVC? The last time I checked rates, I was surprised that a GVC room was actually less than a MK view without concierge. With the GVC you have all the great concierge amenities and are still able to have the view from the lounge or beach.

In the update you mentioned, and I could have misread it, but I thought most of the issues were with pre-planning and not the actual building cast members. When we were there in June, the Hawaii building cast members could not have been better, including mousekeeping.

Those are just a couple of random thoughts I had--for whatever they are worth. Nice way to celebrate 40! :flower3:

What a great surprise and enjoy your husband and wife time! The kids will get over it!

Can't help with your decision as to whether or not to stay club level (I am hooked on it), but just came back last week from a club level Poly stay. Everything was absolutely perfect--outstanding mousekeeping, lounge offerings (those ribs and desserts!), general cleanliness, and every single cast member we encountered in the Hawaii building.

We had the same experience for our 6 nights 7 days at the end of September. :goodvibes

We last stayed there in May and Hawaii was great as always. Most reports I've seen are like yours and mine, jackemail....very positive.

Thank you all for your input! I definitely thought about GVC, but they are completely booked (a year out!). Maybe I'll keep checking back on that.

I'm glad to hear the positive reviews of everything in Hawaii. We had a really good experience there, too, but it was two years ago. And with Tikiman saying that people who'd always stayed concierge were never even going back to the Poly again because of the level of service, I was really kind of concerned.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease! :goodvibes

If anyone is concerned about whether or not the Poly Club Level is worth it, check out the Dis podcast's review. Pete pretty much raves about it and he does not do that very often. We stayed Club Level (GV but upgraded to LV!) in July and it was amazing as always.

Adding my 2cents on the CL comments.... We stayed CLGV last month (we were upgraded from GV) and loved it. We loved the cast members in Hawaii and when we wanted to enjoy a lagoon or MK view we went into the lounge and enjoyed a beverage and snack along with it:) We truly felt spoiled.
