For anyone who has stayed at the POLY during Christmas time can you tell me if they have Christmas themed postcard in there gift shop? If they do I plan on useing those as my Xmas cards this year instead of ordering them.Thanks.

Unfortunately I didn't see any when I stayed there Christmas '06 and visited Christmas '07. :sad1: I would have loved to have something like that!

Thanks guys for your magical vacations info. I have a package quote from them and I am waiting to here from AAA to see what the upgrade from CBR to Poly would be with them.

The problem is, the package price is for the day after we get there so I could book AAA for the one night but it is about $400 and we won't get into orlando until about 6pm so I'm not sure what to do about that night.

I also talked to Lisa and she is doing an excellent job.

I was thinking of sending Christmas cards from Disney too.

My first thought was to get those cards which have a slot in the front to show off a photo and then when we get there take a photo of ourselves.

Not sure where or if I can get copies of photos done quickly though. Of course we can take pics on an earlier trip but I'd like to get some resort decorations in the pic

If you have a snapfish account you can upload the photo, create your card and choose to have them picked up at a local Walgreens. The cards will be waiting for you there in a day or two. There are plenty of Walgreens around WDW so if you have a car it should be no problem. Walgreens will give you the envelopes as well so all you'll need is stamps and the addresses you want to send them to.

How about staying at a value for the one night since you will be arriving so late? In the morning you could have bell services transfer your luggage, shoot over to Poly early and check in, then head to the parks for the rest of the day.

My suggestion exactly! By the time you get to your resort, you'll probably be super tired, or you will just want to relax. You'd also be saving alot of money, by staying at a value for one night rather than spending 400.00 just for 4 or less hours.

oh well there goes my idea, I guess I'll have to stick with regular Christmas cards. Thanks for the info

There are actual Disney Christmas cards that can be purchased at WDW.

I have looked at the menu pages and can only find that Capt' Cook's has cold cereal, oatmeal and fruit for breakfast. BUT it says the grill opens at 6:30am. On the DDP do they offer a hot breakfast, like pancakes, waffles, or eggs? Or are we stuck with cereal? :scared: We have used all of our sit down meals with reservations at various other places. Just trying to plan the budget.:coffee:

Captain Cooks does offer hot breakfast too. Tonga Toast is one choice!:thumbsup2 I think there is some sort of egg platter. I think there are Mickey waffles too. No pancakes.

You're definitely not stuck! :thumbsup2 Captain Cooks definitely has hot breakfast. There is Tonga Toast, Mickey waffles, a breakfast platter and more! Allears.net has a menu up on their site for breakfast at Captain Cook's.

Thanks for the info. My 2 DDs are spoiled to hot breakfast. I am sure they will be eating Mickey Waffles most days, then as always ask me or Nan if they can have some of our eggs.

DS can't wait to have some Mickey waffles. Everyday he asks if it's time to go to WDW, and if we are having Mickey waffles yet :rotfl:.

We just got back from the Poly yesterday. If you are on the DDP and eat breakfast at Capt Cooks, the Mickey waffles are not a kids choice - only an adult choice. All 3 kids ordered them, then we went to check out and had to change the whole order. The kids get a scrambled egg order.

I may have missed this somewhere, but are they doing anything with the temporary Captain Cook's (formerly Snack Isle) or is it just closed? I miss having it and the old Tangaroa Terrace over on that side of the resort.

Captain Cook's is back to its original location on the ground floor of the Great Ceremonial House, and as far as I could see when I was there last summer, there's not much going on at Tangaroa Terrace. There's a smoking area right near the entrance to Tangaroa Terrace and since my DH is a smoker, we stopped there a couple of times a day, on our way to and from the TTC.

I've heard that it's used for business sometimes. I wish they'd turn it into a restaurant or something, again.

Missus Toad, we miss Tangaroa Terrace too. The Snack Isle even had decent pizza.

I've seen signs for wedding receptions, business meetings, etc. at Tangaroa Terrace but the Snack Isle is empty again.:sad2:

I am getting ready to book our summer Disney trip and am going to go for LV CL at the Poly. We have stayed GV CL once before and loved Hawaii and enjoyed the lounge offerings. :cloud9:
I'm wondering, what is the worst case scenario on the view from a room in Lagoon View Concierge? It seems as though it would be fantastic from every room. Can anyone help with this? I guess for the best view I should request a 3d floor room?
TIA:wizard:

Edited to add:
SeaSpray, I think I'd like YOUR room!! Just saw your pic on the Balcony Views Thread. WOW! If you remember the room # would you mind PMing it to me?

That picture was taken from INSIDE the room, by the way. The view from out on the balcony is even better! :sunny:

That was room #3502. We've also been in #3503, and twice in #3517, which is way down the far end of the hallway. The views straight ahead are quite similar, but the closer end (3502, 3503, etc) give you a great view of the marina and the wedding pavilion, while the far end (3517, 3518, etc) give you excellent views of Sunset Point and that area.

We've always been on the third floor, as you can tell by our room numbers, so I really can't comment on the views from the lower floors. I do know that the resort has trimmed back the palm trees and other bushes and flowers in the front of the Hawaii building in order to give better views from all of the lagoon concierge rooms. I hope this helps :)
