I posted this in the Humphrey's Home thread but wanted to cross post the same message here.

---------------------------------------------------------

Hello to all of my Wilderness Lodge Family.

I just had to save my 1000th post for something special and I couldn't think of a better way to use it than to share a message with all of you. I know that 1000 is just another number to some but to me there is a lot of history in those 1000 posts.

When I joined the DIS in June of 2003, I was simply a lurker that was taking in some much needed info about Wilderness Lodge prior to our up and coming stay in September of 2003. We had already stayed at the Lodge before that but I wasn't prepared like I was after reading this FAQ.

In the process of preparing, I ended up making some new friends. Lots of them. I was given a venue to share my passion for Disney and Wilderness Lodge and felt that we all had a great purpose. During the months that followed I had many ups and downs but one thing was certain, I could come to my WL FAQ Family and take my mind off the days problems.

You all accepted me with no reservations. There aren't many places in this world where complete strangers can meet up and share important pieces of thier lives yet in many cases never put a face to the username and in some cases put a NAME to the username. We have all shared some great times and even some bad times. Most recently, we all came together to support one of our dearest friends in his most crucial time of need.

You don't see this type of thing every day unless of course you are one of us that frequents our FAQ. Yes, I said OUR and this is because OUR faq is nothing without all of the wonderfull people that participate in it. I could list names but I would certainly miss some people so I won't even bother.

Today, I am active in a few ways on the DIS. (As time permits of course...) Two of the most important things I have done since joining include:

1) I created the "Who's Going" database so you can see who will be at the Lodge when you are going. Due to ever increasing demand, it's popularity expanded to all of the resorts at Disney World in Florida. There have even been requests to add Disneyland CA or create a seperate database for that. Wow. Today, the database plays host to a list of over 1300 vacations at many of the resorts and the main page has seen over 10000 page views.

2) I am currently hosting the 2004 New Jersey DIS Meet in Edison NJ on June 5th and hope to make it a yearly tradition and maybe even expand the area for the meet (Like NY,NJ,and PA). There are currently 41 people confirmed and pre-paid to attend!

Heck, I even have an official color in the Tagliarchy. Royal Blue of course.

I will just say thanks to everyone for making my days a little more special and for giving my life just a little more purpose. You have no idea what kind of impact you make in my day to day life. I look forward to meeting many more of you and continuing contact with those that are already here.

Thank you, again, from the bottom of my heart....

Fred

Fred....just want ot say thanks for all of the great information you presented to this thread and to all the regulars and newbies who check in everyday to read "what's new." I just became aware of this Board a couple of months ago. Thanks to everyone's input, I have been able to gain valuable info in helping us plan our upcoming trip to WDW and WL.

Have a good trip and enjoy the Poly! Please let us know how the Poly compares to WL.:wave2:

I just wanted you to know how invaluable your info has become to my family!! If it wasn't for you I never would have thought even to try concierge let alone book it ... And now I'm afraid that we can't go back. ( I don't know if I should be thanking you or not ..actually..$$$) That being said @ different times throughout the year I found myself logging on just to see how your life is going, You bring such an uplifting approach even at the hardest times, and it has been a pleasure reading your posts!! CONGRATS ON 1000!!!!!

Is there a downloadable/printable diagram of the running trails @ WL? Thank you.

robdam,

The link below will take you to a small scale version of the trails that connect Wilderness Lodge & Ft. Wilderness Campground, while not the best it will give you a general idea. When you check-in you should receive a better map of the trail head at Wilderness Lodge and a more complete view of the trails at Ft. Wilderness Campground. Have fun.

I made my first booking to stay ON-SITE at the Wilderness Lodge! I spoke to a nice CM (Pauline). We wanted a standard-lobby room, but she said that there were no standards available from Oct. 20 -30 :( . So I booked the woods view for 10 nights and requested a lobby room.

Should I call every now and then between now and my Oct. trip to see if any standard rooms become available during our stay? That woods view is pretty expensive for us for 10 nights.

I am also hoping that AP rates come out for late Oct., too.

What do y'all suggest? I really would appreciate any advice from you WL experts ::yes:: .

CR also has a running trail, if you'd like some variety. Just take the small boat over to CR. I believe it was between 1 - 1.5 miles, don't remember exactly.

aesalsa,

First I want to tell you how much I love your photo in your signature. I have seen it before over on the Community Board but never went off topic to tell you.

Now back to the scheduled program. Oct 20-30 great time to visit beautiful weather, and they usually have a rate for AP discount, so things are looking good in that department.

The standard rooms may in fact be taken because of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but yes you can call back and keep checking. ::yes::

With a Wood View, if your upgraded they may assign you a Courtyard View off the Lobby that would be wonderful. What we call the "The Bear Face Rooms."

MAGICinMYHEART,

Thank you AGAIN, for your quick reply :) . And thank you for your compliment on my photo--we are so happy.

ANYWAY :teeth: , I'm glad that the AP discounts will most likely be offered during that time :hyper: . And I guess I'll call CRO next month to see if any standards opened up. Oh yeah. . .
What are "The Bear Face Rooms" ? What is the Bear Face? This sounds really neat ::yes:: .

aesalsa,
Look at the picture of the lodge in my signature. On the back building, you will notice two dormers sitting on each side and slightly above a larger dormer. At night when the lights are on these resemble the eyes and nose of a bear's face. I did have a picture that was more evident, I will try to find it and post it here. Hope you have a great time at WL, I know you will love it and like the rest of us, will never want to leave.
