The NEW Official November 2010 Countdown & Planning Thread ~ Come join us! (Part 2)

I'm not a cold weather person, either... and I'm born and raised in PA! Guess it's time to move!
QOTD- Not our first trip, but we still have a few firsts:
1. See the Holiday decorations at the resorts :santa:
2. TSM (not finished the last time we went)
3. Main Street Electrical Parade
4. Staying Deluxe, and doing the dining plan!

It's cold this morning, 27 degrees. I woke up snuggled with my hubby and the air felt so cold, I thought there is no place I'd rather be...til I realized that 2 weeks from today I could be snuggled up in DISNEY!!! So OK, maybe there is one place I'd rather be. ;)

2 Weeks From Today!!!

If I could 'like' this (like on facebook!) I would!!! :thumbsup2

So my DS6 lost his first tooth 2 nights ago. He was SO excited! Yesterday morning he wakes up and calls me in his room. He shows me the $5 he got (only for a first tooth) but then gets this sad little face and says "but I miss my tooth". He was almost in tears. So I told him to write her a letter and maybe she would bring it back. And guess what, she did! And now he is SUPER excited!!! (he stuck it back in the hole to make sure it was actually his and declared "Yep, she brought me back the right tooth")
shinysparklybubbles- what is the chip and dale camp fire? Sounds fun!
2 weeks from tomorrow we'll be setting out on the road, we have about a 14-15 hour ride.
For those of you driving, how long is your ride?

The guest assistance card does not require a doctors note. If you go to guest relations in any of the four theme parks you can speak with a cast member and they can issue one there. It does help for those with endurance and mobility issues as well as those with illnesses.... the cast members are very nice about it.

Thank you for the information!! :woohoo:

LOL! I love that he stuck the tooth back in the hole!
We're driving too, from PA. It takes us about 16 hours. We're leaving Thanksgiving day this time, so we're hoping for lighter traffic-maybe we can get there sooner!

Oh goodness - it's Tuesday morning, and we're leaving Thursday at midnight....and how much have I packed? Let's count....toiletries, check. Hmmmmm...that's it! Uh oh....:rolleyes1

:lmao: sounds like me.. we leave at 7:30 on Friday morning and I am still doing laundry...
doesn't help that my son has had diarrhea all morning!!:sick: so now I even have MORE to do..

I'm not shiny or sparkly, or bubbly even, but here goes!

The Chip and Dale camp fire is over at Fort Wilderness campground. There's a big fire, with marshmallows to roast, singing, etc.

QOTD: Are you doing anything new this year? And, if it is your first trip, do you have a "must do" at each park?

We are trying to do something new at each park this trip. Here is what I have come up with (DH is making his own list downrange):

MK: Country Bear Jamboree
EP: Imaginatin with Figment
AK: Festival of the Lion King
HS: Voyage of the Little Mermaid

We always try to do some new things along wit some traditions. The #1 thing we are planning on doing is the campfire for the first time. I wanted to do a carriage ride but didn't think about it in time so we can't get in, so that will be next time. We also want to go to "Minnie" Golf, we always say we will and never do. We also want to spend an evening walking along the Boardwalk, but that may or may not happen this trip, we will see. One tradition for us is we go to Beaches and Cream on Thanksgiving day for lunch and have just a Kitchen Sink. That is a favorite of ours!

If I could 'like' this (like on facebook!) I would!!! :thumbsup2

Aww, thanks, I love that on FB and wish DIS had it too!

That is so sweet. DD11 lost her 2nd tooth att the Pool at ASSp, and then DD8 lost her 2nd tooth at the pool at ASSp. (Different pools though.) We always thought that was pretty neat! The Tooth Fairy always leaves the teeth, we wrote a letter with the first tooth for each of them saying mommy is pretty senimental and would like to keep them, she was nice enough to always leave them! :thumbsup2

Our drive is 21 driving hours, we usually stop for around 3 hours total (gas, bathroom breaks etc) making it just about a full day. We are picking up DD8 from school (the other 2 get home before her) and will be on the road at 3:30 and are planning on having dinner at the food court the next day! :woohoo:

QOTD- New thingsthis trip:
1. La Hacienda for illuminations
2. Sci-Fi lunch
3. Tonys
4. Pirates and Pals cruise
5. New resort- POFQ

16 days to go!!!!!
And I have nt even begun to pack outside of the park bag!! I HAVE to get laundry caught up this weekend so that i can start filtering out things we won't need before the trip and packing them!!

Leaving at 6am tomorrow morning!! It seems so surreal. Can't believe it's already here.

11 Days away from work. That's enough for anyone to be excited about!!!

Everyone have a great day!

QOTD: Are you doing anything new this year? And, if it is your first trip, do you have a "must do" at each park?

MK: Dole Whip, Breakfast at Main Street Bakery, MVMCP
EP: Food and Wine Festival
AK: Expedition Everest
HS: Lights, Motor, Action

Also New this year -
Going with a first timer (last time I did that I was the 1st timer and I was 6)
Staying at a Value resort
No "Adults" - while we're all adults there are no parents on this trip so I feel like we'll be kids in a candy store
DxDP
Stress from planning my first grown-up vacation without help (asides from travel agent) :scared:

Today is the ONE WEEK mark :woohoo:

Since our departing flight was pushed from 2pm to 5pm we've added a breakfast to our departing day -

11/16 - Whisper Canyon Cafe @ 9:35am

I've never had such a late flight leaving WDW before so this is also new to me - having like an extra day.

We're leaving sometime tomorrow night! :cool1:

Still left to do:

- Finish packing
- Write note to DS's teacher that he is being taken care of by his grandparents next week, but we'll be available via phone if anything comes up
- Write instructions for DMiL as to where DS needs to be when...
- Decorate a Thanksgiving paper turkey with DS for school project
- Finish cleaning house, so DMiL doesn't have a conniption...LOL!

This time Friday, we'll have been on the road for at least 10 hours already!

Its really a cold morning here too!! we are all still in our jammies because the kids have the week off of school. My 6 year old has a fever...glad its now and not next week;)

QOTD...
MVMP
Boardwalk villas with our girls
San Angel
Taking the Autotrain
Bluezoo restaurant at Swan/Dolphin for hubby and I.

to answer an earlier question..we did the Chip and Dale sing along. It was really cute and there was a Disney movie after.

I wanted to do a carriage ride but didn't think about it in time so we can't get in, so that will be next time.

Really? I just called on Monday and they had a lot of availability at Ft. Wildnerness. I called for Nov 21 - 23 and they had multiple times each day. In fact I have a ressie for Nov 22nd at 6:30pm but I don't think I'm going to use it.

DD5 wants to go to DTD to see Santa Claus and I want to go to WoD, so I'm probably going to cancel it soon. If that time works for you, I can let you know prior to canceling.

Both the carriage ride and visiting Santa Claus are new things for us.

We are eating at Turf Club and Liberty Tree Tavern which are also new for us, too.

QOTD: Are you doing anything new this year? And, if it is your first trip, do you have a "must do" at each park?

Even though i have been 2 times when i was a child, but i cant really remember much so everything will be new to all of us because my dh and 2 sons have never been. The must do's for us just because i have been on this board will have to be

MK: eat a dole whip :)
HS: ride TSM
AK: EE and Festival of Lion King
Epcot: Soarin' and my oldest ds cant wait to go around to all the countries
DTD: both the boys cant wait to go to the Lego store

16 DAYS:banana: Its getting closer and closer..woohoooo!!!!

QOTD: Are you doing anything new this year? And, if it is your first trip, do you have a "must do" at each park?

Yeah, Stay HOME! LOL That is definitely a first! ;)

We were *this* close to re-booking the other day. If we used the military discounted tickets and the Shades of Greens Nov special, we could go for less then $1000 for 4 days -including food! But, we had to remind ourselves we are trying to be responsible, which is why we canceled to begin with. It was tempting tho! Very Very Very tempting.

Right now, we are going to stick with our June trip. My bff and her family are going with us. And my stepsister and her family are always there that week, along with another family we are close with. We are still not sold on where we are going to stay. Our friends want to stay at the Movies. I want to stay at AKL. We already switched back to the Poly for the girls. I dunno what we are going to do. But I do know we won't be doing DxDP. No way I could eat like that in the summer. I make ADRs on Dec 7. So, I suppose we should start planning some.... lol

Hey Jessica! Glad you are still here!! Did you ever get any info on who hit your car? I still can not believe no one saw it or has felt guilty enough to confess:rotfl:...well...I can believe it, because people are crazy sometimes, but I did hate that for you!!!
I can do online check in today, but kinda, not sure...what has been yalls experience with this?
