Just wondering what you guys wear to the MVMCP...do you get the kids festive in Christmas stuff, princess stuff or just normal...I am trying to figure out what we should do.

We sometimes dress normally and sometimes we wear matching shirts that I make. I want to do the tye dye mickey shirts this year but I only have 3 weeks left. We have a Tye Dye Nation store in town and they said they would make them for me! I need to get on that soon.

I also wear my Mickey Santa hat!

Souvies:
ornament
magnet (old monorail magnet that says phrases is my favorite)
candy from Epcot countries (may use as stocking stuffers)
bag of gingerbread men cookies from Germany
mickey rice crispy treats/mickey pretzels for lunch boxes once we get home
try to find something with my family's tartan plaid from England

I'm picking up suitcases from MIL tonight.

3 more weeks!

Hello my fellow Disney friends!

I wanted to stop and check in while I had a moment. DD is doing much much much better. She finally had a break threw. And I mean that literally! lol The dr had to clean her out, which was a bit traumatic to say the least. We have to follow up with Gastro in the future. But for now, her dr thinks it may be a one time thing. Or, she is hoping it is. We should know in a week or so if her bowels stop working and the sensation to go poo goes away again.

We are still on for June 5-11. We did switch back to the Poly from AKL. We are going ahead with surprising the girls with our stay there. But we are not doing DxDP. Just regular DDP. We don't eat alot when it is hot, so the DDP is even a bit much for us in the summer.

As for DH and the great job hunt, he has kinda put it off for the moment. He will be working almost full-time for the Army. For those of you who understand military lingo, he made E5 in 2002. He made E6 in 2004. He never went to PLDC (or WLC, whatever its called now) or BNCOC. He kept getting delpoyed, then he had to have surgery on his knee that he hurt jumping off the top of a fuel truck when it was being shot at. That took a year alone to get approved! Gotta love the army and their paperwork! Then, he had to go threw a med board which took almost 2 years. He ended up on a deadmans profile and wasn't allowed to carry a weapon. Deadman for his knee. Not allowed to carry a weapon due to severe PTSD. He has since gotten his knee repaired enough to do PT (walk, but not run) and has been and still being treated for his PTSD (its ongoing for life) so they appealed his med board results. Now he has to do PLDC, BNCOC. And to top it off, he has to reclass because his job isn't needed any longer! Then, if he wants to, he can go right into ANCOC since he has been a E6 FOREVER! So, that should keep him busy well into next year.

So while the job thing didn't work out like we planned and we will be taking a bit of a pay cut, he will atleast be able to get all of his military stuff out of the way and not have to worry about a civilian job finding a reason to get rid of him for all the military training he has to do in the next year. You wouldn't believe how these companies who claim to support troops react when one of their employees are gone for any length of time. Its really sad.

But anyways, that is life in a nutshell right now. We are surviving. Things are working out in their own way. And we are still planning to go to Disney! Life could be a whole lot worse.

I promise to get caught up. I think I am only a couple weeks behind now... :sad2:

Glad to hear things are on the upswing in your camp. I'm happy to hear that your DD's situation as passed. It can be very scary, even as an adult.

Not familiar with all the military lingo, but it sounds like your DH will be quite busy for the next bit, and that is a great thing. Keeps the mind sharp.

Happy planning for your trip in June..... :yay:

I can't believe how close our trip is!! I need to get with the program! I have a list of trip to dos but I haven't even thought of crossing anything off!! Oy!!

We will be there at the same time!

You're ahead of me I haven't even made any lists yet:confused3.
I keep telling DD we need to make a countdown chain - thats todays
"Must-Do"!

And I keep saying I need to finish the scrapbook from our last trip befor our next trip. I need to get busy!:scared1:

We have 3 weeks from today, and I am starting to get nervous. I know there is no reason to, I will be ready, but I just have to get though Halloween first. DD11 is in middle school this year. Believe it or not, her 8 year old sister can't do Halloween at school but she is. :confused3 We got a letter home yesterday saying they are having a party with food and candy the whole thing. All NO-NOs at the elementary school. (Course when DD16 had her b-day a couple weeks ago she was allowed to celebrate in class at the HS, not allowed at the MS or elemenatry.) Again... :confused3 . Anyway, she brings home the paper YESTERDAY saying they are having a HOMEMADE Halloween costume contest! I have been making their costumes for years but this year she couldn't think of anything so we were ging to buy one. Thankfully she had not found one yet, I was going to take her last night. So, she has decided to revisit a costume from a couple years ago but it needs some work, so I have to get on that. So after Halloween I can focus more. Oh, and DD16 has been so busy she has not gone for her permit test yet. DH wants her to ahve it before our trip so she can get some practice when we are on the empty roads for our trip, so we have to get her studying for that so she can take it soon. Just so many things to do in the next 3 weeks but I know I will get it done, but it would be nice to be more relaxed about it, but I guess that is what vacation is for.

We had been doing a countdown chain and it was working great (we started at like 100 days) but as my son gets older he started to recognize more of the characters and instead of taking of the link at the end he started to take it apart to pull out the charcters he liked!

What are you looking forward to buying on your trip that is not food?

Good question! I just told hubby last night that I want to go the Christmas shop at DTD and get one of the really big decorated glass ball ornaments. My Mom had four when she passed away and my sister and I split them up. As such, I would like to continue the collection and start adding a new one each year.

As well, I want to find my sister's angel there this year. - For more years then I can remember Mom has bought Charlotte and I an angel every year for Christmas. Last year after she passed we decided we could keep up the tradition. BUT let me tell you how Mom found a classy but unique angel every year that fit us so perfectly I will never know. So.... I am hoping I find Sis' amgel at Disney this year.

Funny how this trip is supposed to help me deal with the anniversary of her passing but so much of what I am doing is based around my Mom and things she did.

Edited to add that I am also going to get a Duffy bear for my MIL. She collects bears and I think this would be an excellent one for her collection. AND I want another pearl from Japan. I have done this the last two trips and I got one at Sea World last year during my daughter's school trip there.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Halloween, we need to get a pumpkin and carve it!

And did I mention I'm having Thanksgiving Dinner for 20!

:eek::scared1::eek::scared1:

I have decided that I’m not packing until 5 days away from the day I leave:scared1:, I just attempted to pack and realized I’m packing for all four seasons, it’s insane! Shorts jeans crops t shirts sweatshirts, bathing suits?!?!?!?!?!?!?:sad2:

I am soooo wanting a Duffy!

Also, want to do Pick a Pearl (first time), and get some scrapbook stuff!

24 days, got Mickey Mail yesterday! :cool1:

Ok so this is a bit off topic. But it seems I have developed a distinct love affair with cold Starbucks drinks.

It all started with Coffee Fraps Light blended coffee, and now I have found this new Starbucks doubleshot Energy + Coffee drink - This is a canned drink that you can buy in the convienence store. MMMMMMM .. Has anyone else ever tried it?

Is anyone else here going to The Benefit Sale on November 6 at Downtown Disney? DH has decided to drive straight through on the 5th:headache:, so I just bought vouchers so we can shop. Well, at least we'll be so tired from the drive that we'll fall asleep early on Friday so that we can get to the sale at 5:30am:scared1:.

Shh, don't tell my hubby, but I'm eyeing the 40% off Dooney & Burke bags....

I haven't heard about this. Can you share?

I am super duper excited!! as some of you know we booked the autotrain for our trip in 17 days.....well we used our continental miles transfered to amtrak and got the entire trip roundtrip for FREE..not only that, we went from regular coach seats to a bedroom....I am so excited I can't believe it:banana::banana::banana:

Sweet deal. I've always thought about using the Autotrain, except that my son currently lives in GA with his mum, so I'd still have to drive back up to ATL to get him.

Great score on the bedroom snag. I've done some research and it they look pretty cool.

And in your case it worked out that it was FREEEEEEEEEEEE!

Gosh! I'm sooooo behind :sad2: Would you mind taking my "Turkey Head" request info off of the front page? I fulfilled everything I've received, and I don't think I'll have time for any more requests. So sorry :guilty:

If you missed out on a customized Turkey Head, here's the blank one: I just used the font "Good Dog Plain" on the name at the bottom. I pulled in the lighter brown from the turkey's body for the color of the name. Hope this helps someone!

The reason I've been MIA is because DH tore his calf (grade 3 tear) 3.5 weeks ago & he's STILL on crutches!!!!! I may need some advice on those electric wheelchairs since we leave in 3 weeks! I've missed chatting with you guys! God bless, Angela
