The NEW Official November 2010 Countdown & Planning Thread ~ Come join us! (Part 2)

43 days :)

Our plans start before we actually get to Disney..The day we leave will mainly be driving all day..We plan to try and make it to Valdosta Ga and stop for the night. Then the next morning get up and drive to Daytona Beach..Have lunch at Bubba Gumps and hang around the beach for an hr or 2 then head on the DTD..We have ADR at House of Blues that evening and are staying at The Royal Plaza that night then actual package starts the next morning at CSR :) We plan to get up early eat brkfast at the hotel then head over to CSR and check in to get our park tickets and head to HS for RD..of course all these plans are just what we are thinking..you never know whats gonna happen..LOL

We're doing the slow roll into Disney....;) Leaving our house in the middle of the night (morning?) on Friday and driving all the way to the last exit in GA. We will arrive at the Best Western LBV on Saturday (Disney property, :cool1:) and do some shopping at Downtown Disney, followed by dinner at House of Blues using a restaurant dot com certificate. Sunday, our official "arrival day", we will check into AKL bright and early to do rope drop at Epcot, followed by dinner at the Brown Derby. Whew!:yay:

We are similar, leaving at 3:20 (Wednesday) from DD8's school (we will pick her up as a family and leave from there.) We drive straight though but if we need to rest we will pull off and rest in the car for a bit, so the time is not set but it could be anytime after noon Thursday driving time wise (21 driving hours) but will more likely be around 5ish.

If we're arriving on November 28th, can I be included in the November countdown? We are staying 5 nights and leaving December 3rd. Sure wish we could stay a couple of extra nights but we rented points months ago and can't get anything for Fri and/or Sat night (unless I try at a mod or value resort). We are staying at BWV with a boardwalk view in a 2-bdrm villa and we can hardly wait! (just keeping my fingers crossed that we can actually go because I don't even have air paid for yet )

Arrival day. We should be within minutes of Disney or maybe in a Disney hotel the night before. So once we check in, drop off our bags and get our tickets, we are off to Magic Kingdom! And we have ressies at Crystal Palace for dinner that night.

I have a question for frequent November travelers. Do you swim?? We went last year in Oct. The first half of the week it was too cool(but nice) to swim. Later in the week it hit 90 and was perfect swimming weather. I know you can't always predict the weather but do you think there will be weather for swimming in Nov? ...2nd week of November.

We always go for Thanksgiving and we always swim. The pools are heated so even if it's chilly we are fine in the pools then we run like heck to the room! My kids will be the ones quietly swimming till midnight at the ASSp pools while I sit with a blanket over me drinking hot cocoa. But yes we swim (I only do during the day though.)

What does everyone have planned for arrival day???

We're going to do some hotel hopping, explore POP since none of my group has ever been and then dinner at Grand Floridian Cafe. We have early days the whole week we're going to take it easy our first day there so we can go full force

We'll leave WV on Saturday & drive down to a hotel room somewhere, if it's not too late & we're nearby we may spend some time at DTD.
Sunday morning, Nov 28 we'll check in early at POP (we know the room won't be ready but we have to get our park tickets!!)and go off to AK (I think) or Epcot. We're debating which park ;)

Hello

Just got home from work. Just wanted to pop in and say we are in the 20's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 29 DAYS to go!!! :cool1:

It's a long weekend, no school on Monday. And it is supposed to be sunny and in the 70's! :goodvibes

Have a great weekend everyone!

What does everyone have planned for arrival day???

We will leave our hotel in Ormond Beach in the morning and head to Disney. We aren't rushing, whenever we get there is fine. However, I expect to be there by lunch. If our room isn't ready, maybe we will head to DTD. If it is ready, we'll settle in and then head over to Epcot, dinner reservation at Le Cellier.

What does everyone have planned for arrival day???
We don't have anything planned (not even an ADR!) . We are just going to play it by ear and see how we are feeling. We will be getting up at 4am so who knows how we will feel (especially DS) once we get there.

We're doing the same thing. Leaving the house at 3 or 4 AM and driving straight through! Hope to arrive by 8 PM, so won't be doing much but grabbing some dinner and going to bed!!!

My husband's first real words to me this morning (all words spoken before coffee don't count) were, "Three weeks and two days." Wow -- he's actually counting down!

We are flying. Our flight leaves at 7am and arrives at 945. We are flying SW so I am hoping the flight will land early like it normally does. When we flew to vegas we were 45 mins early, I thanked the pilot for "having a heavy control finger " lol. $811 for airfare *gag* flying home the Saturday before Thanksgiving probably not my smartest move!!

Last time we were leaving Disney my then 14 year old DD said "hey mom, next time we come I can help drive." :scared1: At the time it seemed like it was forever away. Well now here I sit, next to a drivers ed book, waiting for her friends to arrive for her Sweet 16 party and that day feels like just yesterday.

Sorry, had to get that out. I'm having a little anxiety today. My first born is turning 16!

I feel your pain... my oldest is 16 and will be taking his license test in 2 weeks. When we've been talking about the drive down he says "if you guys are both tired, I can drive!" Last time we went it was a standing joke he would make... but now he really can!!! :scared1:

We are in the same boat... DD 15 has her permit and wants to help drive!!! I just don't think I can bear it though, she is my little girl, she should not be able to drive herself to Disney!!!

:)

I don't think I ever noticed this thread!

So for our arrival day...
We'll be staying in Orlando for three nights before we check-in @ Pop w/ family for Thanksgiving and to visit. So we'll leave their house really early, probably around 7 and head to Pop to check-in. And straight from Pop to Epcot where we have a breakfast ressie at Akershus @ 9:30! And we'll be spending our first day at Epcot! Can't wait!

I can't imagine dealing with my kids learning to drive! Luckily I still have 12 years before that becomes an issue. Scary!

We get into MCO at about 10am on our first day, we plan to check in and head over to Epcot to catch a little bit of the F&W festival before it ends. I plan to buy a couple of wine glasses so we can enjoy a glass of wine on our patio after we've put the little ones to bed at night - one of the reasons we splurged on the MK view! We have ADRs at Coral Reef and Akershus, very excited about our first princess dinner! I will then run back to the room (who am I kidding, walk quickly) to set up the "surprise" from Mickey for the girls. I've been watching sales for the last 8 months to try to recreate a Grand Welcome from Disney Florists. I think it's such a great idea, but the price tag was just too high. And has anyone seen the new Princess one? Wow. That should be it, a long day but it will be so much fun!

Yeah, she said it joking then too but now it's not so funny. Plus, she is saying "mom, can you believe you are old enough to have a daughter driving?" and that is not funny either. :rolleyes1

29 days until we leave, 30 days until we arrive!

On our arrival, we'll be leaving from my cousin's house in northern FL. I really want to be on the road at 7am Sunday morning so we'll get to WDW between 2 and 3pm. Mapquest is saying 6hrs 11min from his house to CBR, though my parents SWEAR there's no way to get there that quickly. We shall see. My biggest concern is that we'll be traveling with a newly potty trained almost-3yo. I figure we'll put her little potty in the back of the truck so that if she has to go we can pull over, but also I'm thinking of putting her back in pull-ups that week just in case. I'd hate to be at the front of a 45min line, even if we had just gone, only for her to declare "I have to potty."

Anyway, we'll get into CBR (my parents at Pop) mid afternoon and check-in, bring in the luggage, hopefully unpack a bit. Then we'll hop busses to meet up at Epcot for a 6:40pm ADR at Akershus. Not sure if we'll catch Illuminations that night or wait until our full Epcot day on Wednesday.

Sadly, we won't be going to MK until Tuesday on day 3! Shocking I know, but that's DD's birthday, so we're holding MK day 1 until that day.

Have any of you ever seen a rehab finish early?? Winnie the Pooh is on rehab our week, and scheduled to reopen on Sunday (the day after we leave). We have breakfast at MK on Saturday before spending the bulk of the day at DtD, and I'm hoping WtP will open early so we can catch it after breakfast. (Thankfully Mad Tea Party is scheduled to finish rehab on Friday, so we'll catch it that morning as well.)

What does everyone have planned for arrival day???
QUOTE]

Well, we'll be up & heading to the airport by 4:30am :scared1: It sounds like bunches of us have horribly early flights! Plan is open until 4pm when we will be at Harmony Barbershop for DS haircut. Fireworks in MK at 6pm & dinner at Boma at 8pm. Then bed. We may cancel Boma as the day progresses, just depends on how we feel. Hoping room is ready a little early & we can have a little nap before heading to MK.
