My son-in-law is in the army posted to Ft. Drum. He and my daughter have an apartment in Gouvenour. Its totally out in the middle of nowwhere!!

You said he out processed? What does that mean? You're not in NY anymore? I'm new to this army lingo. My dad left the army when I was 4.

He is still in. He is just in the Reserves now. His last deployment he was deployed with a Reserve unit. They have to be mobilized to a Army Mobilization Base (Drum, Dix, Gordon, Bragg just to name a few -there are alot) before going overseas for training, medical and paperwork. And once they come home to outprocess from Active back to Reserve.

He is coming up for reenlistment this March. He is at the point now that when he signs, it will be his last re-enlistment until retirement! It would be a shorter enlistment if he was still active but they add their time different. But in 6 more years and he is D-U-N! (yes, I spelled that wrong on purpose!)

I was reading another thread about things you bring to WDW that you were glad you learned about from the DIS, and the one I added to my packing list was spare sunglasses!

I didn't forget my sunglasses!! I accidentally left my very favorite pair of cool red sunglasses on the bathroom counter in the bathroom on the 2nd floor of the land pavilion. As soon as I realized it, not too long after, I went back to that very bathroom and they were gone. I went to the Soarin' desk... the first stop for lost and found... I went to lost and found... three times over several days. No red sunglasses with the little rhinestones on the sides! I ended up having to buy a pair.... and it said Walt Disney World in cursive letters across the top of one lense.. and I could see it!! Drove me nuts!! I now have prescription sunglasses, and they're very expensive. I will only put them down inside my purse... .no matter what!! too risky!

We used the Verizon app on our last trip. It came in handy. But if you're not in the park that you're asking about, it just said something like, low, medium ect. for wait time, instead of specific times. But it was nice to find out the info before hopping! It worked very well though, for the park we were in. But when you're using it to decide if its worth it to hop to another park for a specific ride, it wasn't as helpful as we'd have liked. I can't remember all the features that we used. I sort of remember something about it telling us what characters were going to be where and when.... now that was handy.

Last year i forgot to pack female products because i wasnt expecting it but low and behold...my body said Vacation oh ok lets try and ruin her time..LOL
Needless to say i had to go buy some so from now on ill bring some just in case..LOL

UGGHHHH....How many times has that happened to me? Geez...!!!! I think my 'forgot to pack' item was Excedrin....arrival day usually gives me a headache for some reason...Ex is the only thing that ever makes a dent in my head pain!!!

Oh yeah... one year, I packed a dozen pairs of socks, but left behind the tennie shoes!! They must have been left out of the suitcase somehow. So, I had the sorest feet ever! I too had to buy some tennis shoes a 1/2 size larger. Not cause my feet were swollen but because I bought them at Mousegear and the Mickey tennies only came in whole sizes and I wear a 7 1/2. That's ok, they were such a relief to my feet. You never realize what muscles your feet are using and calfs too, when you wear slip on shoes or flip flops til you walk all day in them at a park or four! Now I always make sure that my socks bring their companions.

Does anyone else have the bed bug thing in the back of their mind? Its not so much a creepy bug thing as much as the issue of bringing them back home.

I'm not obsessing about it but I will check the beds just to make sure. My main concern is the crud on the tv remote, I always wipe it down before anyone uses it.

Walker? We have friends who live in Walker!!! Tom's my DH's best friend, has been since 2nd grade.

emt_pinky, how did I miss you joining this board? You know me & DH (him mostly) IRL from high school and working in the field together! Small world! We're almost there at the same time; you'll arrive the day we're leaving.

Gracious, two days and I had like six or seven pages to read! Guess the closer it gets the chattier we're all getting! Since I'm up past midnight, that means we're officially FIVE WEEKS AWAY from leaving for WDW! Going to really try to get started on things this coming week, as mid-late October is going to be crazy busy for us: the 16th is our wedding anniversary (contemplating getting tickets for us to the LSU game that night), the 23rd will be DD's birthday party, then Halloween weekend we have a church retreat in Mississippi. Then the weekend after that we leave for Orlando! Talk about insanity of the best kind; at least I can't say I won't have anything to keep me busy while we're waiting!

Oh that would have upset me so bad. In all our trips to Disney we have only lost 2 things, once my DS left his brand new shirt down by the pool and by time we realized it and went back it was gone, we put in a claim at our resort desk for lost and found but like the CM said it probally got put in with the towels and went to their central laundry , needless to say we never did get it back although we did get a very nice letter followup from Disney after returning home

The other item was a fold up umbrella which my DS friend was using while we were at Disney and he left it in the bathroom , went back but no umbrella, did not even bother checking lost and found for that one, with the daily downpours that August , little chance anyone would have turned it in

I for got my hair mousse last time. Not a big deal. I just used alittle more hair spray to give my hair some volume.
But when I got off EE, my BiL about bust a gut laughing so hard, as his very sweet girlfriend tried to smooth my hair back down!
It was total Bride of Frankenstien!

I agree with you. Our last trip, I only brought 1 pair of sunglasses and the screw fell out while in American Idol Experience and I could not find it. Luckily, this happened at the end of our trip. My mom usually brings extra screws and screwdriver for her glasses, but did not have them with her at the park. I am definitely bringing 2 pairs with me.

Yes I did, I forgot to pack my underwear!! We were going to a car show in Old Towne and then do 2 days of WDW...I guess I was so preoccupied with packing "car stuff" I didnt realize that I missed a very important item!

Luckily there was a Walmart down the street from Old Town so I could pick some up.

I was a nut case, I looked through our bags a million times until I realized there was no undies for me...but of course I remembered to pack them for DH!

No ME package for me since we're driving, but I did get one big thing for our trip in the mail yesterday. Did you know that the Disney Store has an official outlet on eBay? I got DD a 12" plush Eeyore, normally $16.50, for only $5.99! Even with tax and shipping it only came to just over $9! I plan on bringing that with us to Orlando for her to open on her actual birthday.

Oh! and I forgot that I also have a funny WDW sunglasses story. Back in '03 I went with my sister and her two kids. Whenever we went into the Mexico pavilion I took my sunglasses off and hung them by one stem on the collar of my shirt. Well, as I was climbing into the boat for the ride, they fell into the water! And the CM wouldn't let me reach in to get them! Now granted they were only Walmart sunglasses, but they fit really well, and despite being plastic sport-style wrap-arounds, also had little rubber grips over the nose instead of just the hard, sweaty plastic. I was so aggravated I ended up going the whole rest of the trip with no sunglasses.
