Just booked Kidani Villas for Thanksgiving week for me and my girls!! Can't wait!! Nov seems like forever away!!

boy...this has been a long day---the weather has been miserable and I have fought a headache and lethargy all day! pitiful..... I see no relief in sight either....I say lets all leave the south and head to alaska...or antarctica....

You could head up here to PA, it's pretty much like Alaska and Antarctica for about 8 months out of the year!!

Hello everybody

Wow you have been very chatty while I was away today! I was on DS's field trip. What a day!


I found out some interesting news. . . I scheduled our vacation for the second week of November - just like last year, because that's the week that we have parent/teacher conferences and half days. Therefore, less school time missed. Well, they moved the conferences/half days to the third week of November next school year. Crap!! No one okayed this with me!! Now, should I even bother to try to change our whole trip by a week, or just leave it alone??? My oldest DS will be in 6th grade. He will have a ton of make up work if he misses 5 whole days. But I'm not sure I can change our airfare without getting charged for it. . . And I booked WDW with a 40% off PIN I got clear back in Nov 2009.

Just wanted to say hello and that we just booked WL for Nov. 28-Dec. 4

This will be our second trip and the first one for our third child. We are also going to be there for DH's 40th bday

I have less than a week before we are 6 months out and I'm totally stressing about ADRs. We are doing the dining plan for the first time and I'm kind of worried about it -- mostly b/c I think it's confusing and I am very easily confused

The school won't care either way. It's the make up work I was trying to avoid. He'll have a lot either way, it will just be a little lighter without having his afternoon classes that week. . . Oh I don't know!!!

I will probably leave well enough alone, but I will talk to DH tonight and see what he thinks. Plus I'm not going to change it if it will cost more. This deluxe trip is already expensive enough, even after the 40% discount.

I don't think I would change since you did use the 40% off pin you might have problems getting BW, and like you said there is probally a fee to change the air. Perhaps he can get work to take along on vacation, I did that one year with my son, we had planned our usual April vacation and because of all the snow days they decided to cut the school vacation short.
Hope it works out for you whatever you decide.

Your 40% can change with you, as long as your dates are open. You may run into the same issue I did tho. Which was only one room level was open still and that was standard. We wanted water view. Our TA said the pickins' are gettin' slim! Atleast with the discounts.......

Question Of The Day!

Have you ever had a bad experience at Disney? If so, explain!

Yes, unfortunately we have had a few. . .

In May 2008 we stayed at CSR and had several bad experiences. All the CM's were extra grumpy that week. Our room was very dirty - all week. When we checked in there were crackers and used kleenex under the beds. They were still there when we left a week later. So, that explains our mousekeeping experience. For 3 days in a row I left a note for mousekeeping (on top of the tip) asking for a shower cap. Each day the money was taken, but no shower cap was left. The phones didn't work all week. Therefore we couldn't call and ask for one. DH finally went to the front desk and explained what was going on and they said they'd send someone with a shower cap to the room. But offered no apologies or anything. The food court at CSR was another unpleasant experience. The first time all 4 of our dinners were done at different times, so we weren't able to all eat together. Even though DH and I ordered the same exact thing at the same time. Plus we got fries instead of potatoes and when DH told them that we had asked for potatoes they said - you get what you get. The next time we went back we decided to get in the pizza line. We waited and waited, the CM kept her back to us the whole time. The line piled up behind us. A CM finally came to the counter and asked if we were wanting pizza, when we said yes she said she couldn't help us, that we would have to wait for the other CM. After 15 minutes of being ignored we left. Then the day before check out I went to the front desk to get my boarding passes printed out, like I always do. The CM told me no. I told him that Disney always does this. He argued and argued with me. I told him that he could have done it already in the amount of time that he had stood there are argued with me. Still wouldn't budge. I asked for his manager. He went in the back and came back 5 minuted later (without a manager) and said (very unapologetic) -- I apologize, I can do this for you. Never smiled or offered any sincere apology. We will never go back there!!!


Our other bad experience was at LeCellier in November. I was so disappointed because I was looking forward to it so much because it had been so perfect in the past. We had dropped the kids off at the kids club and headed to LC for our "date night". We were seated timely and ordered. We waited and waited and waited. Our waiter came by and said our dinners would be out soon. We hadn't really thought much about it at the time, but then looked at the time and we had waited quite awhile longer at that point. He came by another time and apologized for the wait and said it would be right up. But we waited and waited some more. Finally another CM brought out our dinners. He set them down and left. I cut into my steak that I asked for well done (like I always do) and the blood came streaming out onto the plate. Sorry for being so gross, but I am very serious. It was nasty!! Rare to say the least. DH had asked for his medium-well and it was also rare. He can eat his like that though, but I can't. I am not one to send food back, but there was no way I could eat that. I waited about 3-4 minutes before our waiter came back by. He noticed my disgust and the blood on the plate. I said - this is nowhere near well done. He apologized and took it back. I told DH to go ahead and start eating before his got cold (colder). So he started to eat his slowly, hoping mine would be back out soon. I was glad to wait, as long as it was well done when they brought it back out. It was about 10 minutes later the waiter came back out with it. The edges were nearly done this time, but the middle still very pink. I just couldn't believe it. Neither could our waiter. At this point I was pretty upset and when he offered to take it back AGAIN, I declined. I told him that I would just eat around the outside where is was nearly done and that we didn't really plan to be in the restaurant all night. He said he would send his manager over. Pretty soon she comes over and says -- I understand there is a problem with your food not being prepared correctly. And I explained that my well done steak was very rare and bloody, even after I sent it back and that we had been in there for quite some time and our kids were at the Kid's Club and we didn't want to be in there all night. She wasn't the friendliest, but did apologized and said that we wouldn't be charged for my meal. Well that was nice, but we were on the dining plan, free dining at that!


We've had a couple of other minor unpleasantries, but those are the 2 major ones that stick out. Definitely more good experiences than bad!!

Question Of The Day!

Have you ever had a bad experience at Disney? If so, explain!

Yes, but it was because of a guest! It happened when my sis and I went last March. I dunno if the FP line for TSM is still like this, but when we went it seemed like everyone was bottlenecking at the first FP machine, and they thought that line is for all of the machines but really for each machine there was a separate line. So anyway, after rope drop in DHS, we were almost at TSM and I walked ahead to get on the FP line. I was on line for the last FP machine on the left. My sister, trying to catch up to me, said "excuse me" to some lady (who i think was at the "front" of the "fake line") and the lady wouldn't let her get past and was really nasty & confrontational. My sis said, "my sister is right there, sth up" and moved around her to get to me. Then the lady proceeded to run up to my sister, grabbed her by the arm to whip her around and shook her while saying, "don't you dare curse at ME!" My sister was really shaken up by it and wouldn't press charges So we went back to the room and eventually returned to DHS later in the day after she calmed down.

What happened was so scary because the lady was a lunatic! I remember screaming at her and unfortunately b/c I was yelling ppl were taking the lady's side. Ugh!

I agree about the Grays Anatomy finale..that was crazy!!!

Some interesting news today..it seems we are going to ALASKA at the end of August...well my husband is kind of king of finding all things cheap..so he just happened to come across flights to Anchorage for 246$ round trip including all fees...he told his mom and she said lets go.. she is paying for our flights I am one freaking lucky girl

I am very excited about this...also nervous. Not sure if we can afford it, even with her paying for the flight..oh well I guess you only live once..guess I'll have pick up some extra shifts at the hospital.

I agree! We had a busy weekend, then I had three dr appts in two days (one was actually for DD) and was busy around the house today, so I just had nearly 10 pages to read!

First of all on the HP issue, I was rather sad when I finished the last book. I think it'll be even worse though after the last movie.

And Shawna, living next to you in Louisiana, I'm right there with you over the heat; this has been crazy!

Sjs314 - Thanks for the tipoff on the schedule change! I'm trying to plan on EMH days in case DD needs a mid-day rest, so I'll have to flip-flop our Donald's Safari Breakfast and Play & Dine Lunch ressies. I would do it tonight, but yeah, it's 12:40am, so I think I'll wait until the morning to deal with that.

On, and regarding shoes, it'll probably be one pair sandals and one pair tennis shoes for both me and DD, and likely just tennis shoes for DH. I am on the lookout for some new sandals though. I don't want flip-flops b/c I have a hard time keeping them on in my wheelchair, but am looking for something adjustable across the top of the foot, not just the ankle, as I have problems with disability-related swelling in my feet. My daughter's sandals would fit the bill perfectly; too bad Stride Rite doesn't make a ladies 10!

Go ahead and add Tutto Italia at 6:15pm on Fri, Nov 26 and Ohana at 4:55pm on Sat, Nov 27 to my ADR list.

We really want to wing it on a few days, but I am afraid with the crowds that we may not end up being able to get anything. So, I figured better safe than sorry, right?

So I am officially done switching everything around. Dates are a go, Resort is a go and now my ADRs. I have no plans to change anything again. And you know with ADRs, even when it was 180 days before, I still don't remember it ever being so easy. I think mine are pretty darn awesome. I never imagined I would get them all and so easily! I had 2nd and 3rd choices ready! Ahhhh.... everything just feels right now. Now, if November would just hurry up and get here!

It was the night EMH they changed on my week, which did affect my tentative plans but I just switched DAK for in the morning on Friday instead of going later in the day or plan 2 now head to DAK the morning of our last day, it will all work out as long as Disney does not change too much more and mess up my schedule

Andrea~ heck yeah...you GOTTA go!!! How awesome is that!?? We are not usually summer travelers --even tho I would love to go north in these hot summers...but, we get flyer miles all year and our Disney flights are covered...well....we have enough already for Nov and extra to boot!!! So...I may be on the scavenge for a short summer trip summer 'up' on the globe from us!!!I have two church camps to schedule around....other than that I am good! Of course, Mike is sooo busy in the summer...but i am sure he will wnat to find a way to go with us!!

I am officially "done" , I think with my ADR changes, I switched up two of mine yesterday from dinner to lunch after seeing the price difference between the two, I had ressies before at both places for 4:05 right after dinner started so for a change of an hour, not to mention F&W will be going on and who knows we might not want to eat or eat much anyhow whats done is done now
I do so hate this second guessing when your making plans and it is worse when you travel with grown kids trying to coordinate planning the daily activities while on vacation. I should be getting good at it , DH and myself have traveled to Vegas, and Disneyland and last year to WDW with our grown DS and wives but for some reason it is not any easier yet
