Mindy,
We are flying out of Reagan the morning after we go...the hotel has a courtesy shuttle to the airport which is 3 miles away. Why do you think it will be an issue touring the city based on what airport we are at? We plan on getting into Washington in the morning and possibly going to the Smithsonian and then heading to the hotel.. We are not going all around..we may just see one or 2 things then let the kids go swim at the hotel. Our flight is at 1130am the next morning.

What day will you be in DC? Traffic and touring are great between 10 am and 2:30, after that everything during it is a mess. What hotel are you at? VA side is better than the MD side. We live about 1/2 hour outside of DC , and DHs job takes him all over the Md/VA/DC area. Any ? you can pm us. Jenn.

Add us too..Nov 7-13 vwl.. Got all our adr we wanted too..The 7th at wcc,8th at Boma,9th at Tusker House breakfast,10th Le cellier,11th Fantasmic mama melrose,12th Ohana

I'm glad to hear you're flying out the morning AFTER you go to the Smithsonian. They have just reopened the Smithsonian Museum of American History after a multi-year closure and rehab. I haven't seen the new exhibits. I'll go after tourist season is over. Whenever that is? Not when its THIS hot though. Its been 104!:scared1: One day is not even enough for just one museum to see it all, so you might want to skim if you want to visit several museums. They're all mostly right next to each other though, so travel between museums isn't an issue and the Capitol and Washington Monument are at each end of the National Mall (the Smithsonian lines the sides). Anyway, Reagan National is actually in Alexandria VA on the "fun side of the potomac". www.funside.com or http://visitalexandriava.com/ lots to do there too. Its the closest to DC, but since you're not trying to fly out the evening of your visit, you're doing it the next morning, you'll be ok. Just allow plenty of time for the hotel shuttle to get you there. I'm sure the hotel concierge can tell you what time you should expect to board. Is your hotel in DC? Va? MD?

Is your Cape May Cafe ressie for Thanksgiving Dinner or is that the Character Breakfast? In 2007 we did Thanksgiving dinner at Whispering Canyon. I've done the CB at Cape May last July and loved loved loved it! Such selection of yummies!! This year our Thanksgiving dinner is at Chef Mickey! Can't wait.. never have eaten there and we're going to have to cancel Chef Mickey for our August trip because we keep getting hit with unexpected big ticket costs!!

I know what you mean by the truck repairs. Would this happen to be a Chevy truck? Ours always gets jealous (my Chevy van too) and seems to need something right before a trip or right after another big ticket purchase. We just got slammed by a nearly $500 electric bill thanks to our 100 degree record breaking heat, and the next one is slated to be the same!:scared1: No more Chef Mickey. No more Typhoon Lagoon... all these big ticket items are cutting into my Disney fun!! We also have to pay my son's college tuition a few days before our Disney vacation. :sad2: As Gilda Radner said.... "if its not one thing..... its another!!".

At least I use a Disney Visa so I get points that get put on a gift card as $ that I can spend at Disney!:woohoo:

We have 5pm reservations on Thanksgiving Day. My DD20 and I did a lot of searching around to see where we would like to go. I ,DH and DD16 went last September and loved Cape May and its selections so thought we would give it a try. DD20 was in college and not able to go so this will be her first time.
Where does your son go to school and what year is he in. My daughter is in her Junior year and we started the process of finding who has her books the cheapest for the upcoming semester. College bills. YUCK! She is one reason we are going Thanksgiving week so she misses the least amount of days possible.

Congrats on your two more days! We did the exact same thing and saved money.

Thanks, and I was so worried a week ago. :) I haven't felt this good in months.
Aren't you glad it's over and done!? I am glad you are feeling better!!!
Hello my friends:yay:
Just wanted to say hello..I have been neglecting my lovely DIS boards lately..life has just been crazy!! I will continue to lurk from time to time and I am sure once it gets closer, I will be all over this place:banana: We are going to Alaska one month from today..so that is occupying my free time. Our flight is out of DC so we are going a day early to take the kids to some museums and so we can be close to the airport..I fear DC traffic when I have a plane to catch:scared1:

How fun!!! Enjoy it and say hi when you can!!!Try to take some Alaska pics for us!!!

Our reservation at Chef Mickey for Thanksgiving is at 4:00pm. We typically eat our Thanksgiving meal at home between 3 and 4, so we thought we'd aim for the same time slot. That should give us plenty of time to walk off the big meal.

Our son will be a Freshman at Florida Tech starting next month. Florida Tech is an hour from Disney in Melbourne, next to Kennedy Space Center. We will be driving him down with all his stuff starting on Aug. 8th. He has to be there for orientation week starting on the 10th. He has a full week of activities and then classes start the 16th. There are parent orientation activities on the 10th and 11th. We have reservations for 8 nights at the Pop Century starting Aug. 11th. We will have our 8 year old DD with us. She will be so bored at the orientation, so I'm hoping we can extract ourselves from it early. There is a parent reception with the college president sometime that evening, but I"m hoping to make it a very short Hello-goodbye. The sooner we leave there, the sooner we get to Disney. We don't have free dining for several reasons. We have AP's, and you need a package to qualify for the free dining. Plus, we're checking in a few days earlier than it starts.

We decided to return for Thanksgiving because for the first time our county schools have the whole week off for Thanksgiving so its a unique opportunity for the kids not to miss school. (my sister and BIL are coming with their son). and the other reason is DS18 does not have the whole week off at Florida Tech, so instead of flying him home for just a few days, we'll go there. We're picking him up Tuesday evening after Fantasmic.. which he'll miss.....:rolleyes1 We've got Mama Melrose for the dinner package. We did the Hollywood & Vine buffet a few years ago, and I've sworn off buffet dinners for DD8. She barely eats $4.00 worth, so paying $17.99 is not what I want to do. Mama Melrose doesn't have a fixed price anymore, you order off the menu, so we can get her a kids meal and be done with it.

We're eating at 11:30 at LTT on Thanksgiving Day. DH and the kids said they wanted their turkey at lunchtime. I figure by nighttime the restaurants will be backed up. We are going to spend the rest of the day at our resort. DM, DD and I have a reservation for Tea at 4:00 while the guys watch football.

We order my daughters books on line all the time... I just type the ISBN number into google search.... just make sure your getting the American version.... all of her professors sent her the titles and ISBN numbers when she emailed them... then at the end of the semester she sells them back to the book store on campus... last year she made more back than what we paid for the books...

Made it to the double digits - 99 days to go :dance3:

Awesome ~ Congrats!! :cool1: I will hit double digits later this week!! :woohoo:

We are getting there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay for double digits!!! Will I ever get there? I think I am at 110 today!! Sounds like we are weighing!!! Ha!! Of course, I haven't seen 110 in quite a few years!!!:lmao: Hey...I saw a cool thread ....will have to find the link...for making trip journals into Disney Planning Binders! It was sooo neat! I think it was on the Disney for Families thread...anyway... I think I am gonna do one for dd as an autograph book....then do one for me as a trip planner...they are so cute-and doable!!!

It wasn't on the Families thread..it was Disney Tips:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2115381
I like them all, but the one the OP made is more my style!!! I don't want to go bankrupt or crazy working on it!!! Especially the one for DD...I might do hers first and see what works...it won't have to be as detailes...just scrap papers put in and a few different ones for if we divide them into sections!

Can someone tell me what the Celebrations magazine is I keep seeing you refer to?

125 days for us :)

I resisted ordering the last time you posted the addy for the Celebrations Magazine but caved today :rotfl2:

Years ago late 90's to early 2001 or so I subcribed to a Disney Magazine never renewed then at one point I tried to renew and found out they no longer published that magazine (for the life of me I can not think of the name, I have the issues all packed up in a box, one day I will dig them out)

Anyhow now I have something to look forward to while waiting for my clicker to go down in number of day

YAY! :yay:

I had heard that there used to be some type of Disney magazine years ago, but we never started going to WDW until 2005. I hope you enjoy Celebrations! I like that it only comes every other month. I wouldn't have time to read it each month. So it's just right! :goodvibes

We used to get a disney magazine for kids, I can't remember what it was called either (maybe Adventures?). I think it was still out when we went on our first trip in 2006 my kids loved that thing and we had a subscription and would've continued with it but for some reason they quit publishing it!
