We're going to WDW in November and staying at AKV!! I am so excited :) We are going with DH's grandparents who will celebrate their 50th anniversary in December! They love Abby to pieces so it's great....we travel with them and have babysitters at night...yay. We're getting a 2 bedroom and I think it will be great!

I am so jealous of you two- travelling in nov and dec! it won't be long before your trips are here!

i just applied for a disney visa to use for work! lol

We never did CIO, but my kids are bottle users. Aiden is almost off the bottle. He only gets it for naps and bedtime. I noticed he hardly drank any of it today for nap, after lunch.
Both of my kids slept with us until they were 2-3 months old, and then we'd start by putting them in the crib for naps, and work on it from there... it was just easier and we had no transition problems at all. 2-3 weeks seems way too young to me, but thats just me.

((((Will)))))

When the kids are older, we'll do Disneyland. I do not do rides, dh only would go on rides if big DS is with us, so right now it isn't worth it.

My kids have always had blankets and pillows (yes, we're bad parents. They had almost flat pillows, and now both have their own normal one.) in their beds. Aiden is only now using his blankets. He and Lydia hate and have always hated blankets on them (go figure). We do use a heavy blanket on Lydia, but she kicks it off. Even if she is in a dead sleep. Never fails. Aiden does too, but he will pull it back on.
We put long johns or footie jammies or some type of jammies that cover neck to toes. Both are like mom and hate socks on LOL.

We need to start doing time outs in a chair. What is a good age, and how does one start implementing it?

I tried to find the Aiden story and couldn't :( Really bummed me out. Was there a crash of the boards at one time?

On the puking of the bottle, my kids do not tolerate tap water, it has to be bottled. Have you tried bottled water by chance?? Lydia spits up/exorcist if she gets tap water :( Aiden gets diarrhea.

Kids are asleep, so I am going to nap. I want to take pictures later :) if any come out, I will post :)

Meredith - I am sure the puking gets old. Please vent away ... I wish I had advice for you.

Stacy - for you too. How old is Brady again? I am soooo bad at keeping track of the ages of the babies here. Thanks to anyone who keeps a ticker in their siggie (Becky!!!) Does he still ride facing backwards?

He's 20 months and forward facing. It's weird he had done it a few times and we just figured he didn't feel well. Than in the last couple of months it's been whenever we are in the car for a while. Normally the only place we travel far is to my parents and that's 1 hour 15 minutes. He did get sick going there once about 2 or 3 months before this all happened. But now all of the sudden and he did it on my mom, too. Of course they were using my car.

Question: It is fall in New England -- which means that when we put Izzy down to bed it is still pretty warm in her room (72-74 degrees) and she sweats with long pjs or a sleep sack but by the early morning hours it has dropped to 67-68 degrees and she is cold -- ideas about how I can dress her for bed? When can kids start to use blankets????

I don't think I'd be much help. Brady's room is usually about 68 when he goes to bed and then it's about 62-64 when I get up. I have started putting him in blanket sleepers. And he's been fine. when he goes to bed I do put blankets on him, but he doesn't like them. Maybe long pj's w/a onsie under it??

Oh and let me tell you, my family hacks me off. They have Aiden forward facing. I am turning him back around when we get back to Arizona. He is still small enough.

Lydia had to be moved to a big girl (read facing) chair, as she is nearly 30" long! Her doctor insisted she was in a dangerous 'position', keeping her in the smaller chair was dangerous if we got in an accident.
She is much longer (at least legs) then Aiden was at that age. He was still in the small seat at 10m old and almost but not quite ready for a big boy seat.

I had the wierdest rash yesterday from some sort of bug bite the day before. It was the size of a softball on my inner arm and my forearm was really swollen. It was hot to the touch as well. I called the nurseline and they said to take benadryl and watch it. The benadryl helped and it is much better today but it was wierd. I thought I had a mosquito bite the other day but I guess not!!

I am reading through everyone's posts, but had to stop to reply to yours immediately - this is EXACTLY how my MRSA started out - please get to a doctor ASAP to have that checked out if the benadryl is not helping!

Pollito - Yikes! Luckily the rash was much better this morning. It's only a very faint red and the spot where the bite actually is is a little sore but that's it. Thanks though.

Rachel - You need to do the chair for Aiden? I am trying to figure out a good way to start discplining Alexander. I do the corner time outs with him right now for anything really naughty. usually he laughs at me at first but after a little while he realizes I am not letting him go. They say a minute per year of life so right now we are in the naughty corner for 90 seconds. I have to hold him there but it's ok.

Stacy - I wish i had some advice for the car sickness.

Alexander is forward facing and as guilty as I feel it's just soooo freaking hot out here that rear facing he wasn't getting any a/c and just melting.

Rachel - welcome back! Your kids are so cute and your story just amazes me! Are you in Alaska right now? When do you come back to AZ?

Stacy - no advice on the carsickness, though I always got it myself as a child, not sure how telling him to look straight ahead would work out with a baby.

Becky - you are lucky Vaylie will sit in a time-out chair. If we tried that with Alex, we would have to hold him in place to make sure he stays in the chair - we are still using a pack-n-play, which he sometimes throws himself against or puts one foot on top to try to escape, but luckily can't get any further. Other times he just sits or lies down and sucks his thumb. But he always protests the time-out and says "Nice, nice" in a pleading voice and tries hugging us so we won't put him in.

Pollito -- hope your travels are going well -- you have to travel alot huh?

Nicole - glad you had such a great trip and welcoming back from Izzy. :goodvibes The travels aren't too bad, usually 1-2 weeks every other month, but lately has been a little more often, like 1 week every month. Though there's a good chance I will have to come back here next week. :sad2:

As for pjs and sleep sacks, when we were still in Chicago at that temps, we would put Alex in a 2 piece Carter's shorts and short-sleeve shirt set with a sleeveless cotton sleep sack. We put a blanket in with him now, but I don't remember when we started, and anytime I go check on him he has kicked it off anyway.

so here's a QUESTION OF THE DAY

When is your next WDW trip and are you taking your little one/s? How many nights and where are you staying?

Our next trip is in December, and we are taking Alex - it will be his first trip! I can't wait! My mom, my sister and my sister's new live-in boyfriend are coming with too. We are all staying at CSR, and my sister and her boyfriend are going to be staying in the same room as my mom. :scared1:

I just read your post and I'm glad your rash is better. We put Alex in a pack-n-play for time-outs since I don't want to be holding him down, and the few times we have tried it, he pinches or bites us, so what do you do after that, when they are in a timeout and being bad?

We also have Alex forward facing for the same reason, so don't feel guilty!

We don't do the time outs yet because honestly I don't think Abby would get it. She sooo active too that I have no idea how I would keep her there...haha. She doesn't do anything awful (yet..haha) but she does pinch DH and I on occasion. We get right down at her level and sternly tell her no. She hates to be repreminded so she cries but I think she'd getting the idea that pinching is not ok.

Hi everyone!

On time outs- we just started them in the last 2 weeks or so. I got a little stool and set it next to the wall. So, I give V a warning, ie- "Vaylie, no buttons. If you touch the computer buttons you will sit in time out." So, of course, she does it, and I say, "Time out." So, I take her to her seat and sit her down, and I sit on the floor in front of her and say, "You have to sit in time out because you touched the computer buttons after Mommy told you not to." (Do I sound like I've watched a bajillion episodes of Super Nanny? :lmao: ) So, I make her sit there like, 30 seconds- 1 minute (if she stands up I tell her no and gently sit her back down) and then I say, "Ok, you can get up. No touching the computer buttons, say Sorry." And she says it (she's already trying to say "sorry" as soon as she sits, in an effort to get up quickly) and then I give her a hug and kiss and send her on her way.

Pollito- I cracked up at the "nice, nice" thing- Vaylie yells that at her cousin Landon, who tries to push her around. She will whip her head around and say "NICE!" It's so funny! She also says it when she's trying to pet the cat. "Nice? Nice?"

DMickey- not to freak you out, but I second Pollito's caution- that's what mine was like too! Hot, swollen and bug-bite-ish. But, it didn't go away. Once the swelling went down it looked like a pimple then got bigger again, and super-sore. Watch it carefully!

We have V forward facing too, same reason- too hot, she was sooo cranky, couldn't see anything. I was so scared at first, but talked to the doctor and she reassured me that V was heavy/tall enough to turn around.

Pajamas: we do the Carter's 2 piece jammies, too. Short sleeves with pants. Kohl's always has sales on them, too, it seems.

Our next WDW trip will be next Sept.! It'll be V's first trip, and I can't wait!!

Bethany- oy. Poor Owen! Poor Mommy! He'll get the hang of it, though.

And ok, I have gotta brag a little, which I normally don't like to do because it's generally obnoxious, and I don't want anyone to think I am trying to be one of "those" mommies (I'm totally not!), but just because this is crazy- Vaylie knows most of her letters! :scared1: Can you believe it? She started picking them out a while ago, and now she points to them on the keyboard or on signs or t-shirts and says, "A" or "U" or whatever. It's crazy. And at first I thought it was a fluke- like maybe she just knew one, but nope- she can point out well over half and name them correctly. The only one she consistently has trouble with is "Z"- which she says "N" :rotfl2: But really? I mean, she'll be 19 months on Saturday. At this rate, I figure she'll be smarter than me by the time she's 5. Ok, 4.

Completely, totally, utterly OT- but I LOVE LOVE LOVE  The Daily Show. Completely biased, and totally funny. And Jon Stewart is my idea of adorable.

Morning Moms! Thanks for the sleep advice. It was everything I already knew, but I guess I just needed reassurance that I am not ruining her before she is even a month old. ;)

I can't believe that Lila is already 3 weeks old. She seems so much sturdier and stronger in such a short time. Definitely filling out. I don't think I will ever get all of her 0-3 month clothes on her before she outgrows it all!

We had that problem too! Sometimes I would change V's outfit twice just to put something on her otherwise she'd never get to wear it! Some (ok, a LOT) of things went into storage with tags still on them.

Too funny. Actually, my SIL is pg and I am hoping she has a girl so I have someone to pass these cute clothes to!

We're saving all of ours in hopes that the next one is a girl!

My best friend just had her second girl this summer. I had a box ready of stuf to go to her in case it was a boy, most with tags still on it. I kept some favorites just in case our next is a boy but she ended up with another girl.

Now we are hoping I have a baby girl next so that I can get some use out of those clothes!!! Though i know i will buy PLENTY on my own!!

Pollito - I have thought about the pack n play but we use it for sleeping when we travel locally and I have started using it when i need to get groceries from the car or something. I don't want him to get confused and not understand when it's used for playtime and when it's used for punishment. I did plop him in there last week when I was about to lose my cool because he head butt me really hard in the chin!!! I think I will look for a child size chair for him to put in the corner in the dinning room (boring room) and start with that more consistantly. or even the Naughty Mat!!

My rash is much better, thanks guys. You freaked me out!! Now it's just a tiny bump that is itchy but not red at all anymore!!!

We are going to our free trial class for Gymboree this morning and my MIL is coming in at 4pm.

Hey Ladies!

You guys were busy busy bees in the last 24 hours or so!

Bethany: Keep going with the crib. He'll get it eventually. We switched Colin over from the bassinet at about 2 months, and we ALL got better sleep without him in our room. We started with naps and worked our way up.

Mickey Fliers: You're good! Let her cuddle if that's what she wants to do. Have you tried swaddling? That's how we finally got Colin to sleep for any length of time. We bought something called the Miracle Blanket, since he could houdini himself out of everything else. Of course, we ended up swaddling until he was 8 1/2 months old, but that's another story... :rolleyes1
Nicole: Glad to have you back and glad that you had a great time! We went on our honeymoon 3 years ago in September and loved that the crowds were so small!

RE: Pajamas -- we alternate between long sleeve 2 piece pj's and little "short-alls" I guess. I've just started putting a blanket in with him, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't spend any length of time under it!

RE: Next trip to Disney -- December 6 - 14. We're staying at AKV, SSR (both 2 bedrooms) and BW. It's a crazy amount of moving around, but since we have points at 2 different DVC, we weren't able to book one place at the 11 month mark and haven't had waitlists come through yet. We purposely booked BW though, since we got a postcard code. My parents are coming, so we get built in babysitting too! ;-)

RE: Lots of clothes. Well, we have lots. And lots...and there's plenty that got washed and never worn and ended up in storage. Maybe the next one will be a boy and we can use them again.

RE: Forward facing -- us too. Colin likes it better and it seems easier to get him into it. He was out of his bucket by about 10 months, I think. We have an Eddie Bauer (Alpha Omega I think?) and a Sunshine Kids Radian (in DH's car, will use for the plane). He loves looking forward and he's starting to realize there's stuff going on outside and will point and "ooohhhh"!

RE: Timeouts -- we don't do them yet, but it's coming, I'm sure. He's REAL good at throwing tantrums! That kid does NOT like the word NO!

I guess I should get to work...been here for an hour and haven't done much of anything! Whoops!

WOW you ladies have been busy. I'm going to see if I can catch up some.

Noah sleeps in footed pajamas most of the time. I let him go to sleep with the fan on in his room and then when I check on him when I go to bed I turn it off. He's had a blanket and a lovey since he moved to the crib at about 2.5 months. He was sleeping in the pack-n-play in our room but was always moving the wrong way and was getting too long so we moved him before I went back to work. He started sleeping through the night the next week.

We are going to WDW Oct 6-9 and the DCL Oct 9-12. We're staying at POFQ and I can't wait. We went to the studios, Sea World and Aquatica back at the beginning of June but he is so much more interactive it should be fun.

Don't even get me started with clothes. LOL my mom is always buying stuff and then I buy stuff so he has plenty. He had alot more of the 0-3 months stuff then he could wear but they have already been shared with a friend and now my SIL has them for when her baby comes (she's due 10/22) and then I'll get them back for next time (if its a boy). He has less now but still tons so somethings only get worn once but so far I think I've had him in almost everything at least once. (ok I confess some of the things my MIL brings he never wears. DH and I just put them in the hand-me-down box. LOL they are so ugly.)

We just moved Noah to the Britax Marathon from his graco seat. He was so long in the bucket one he needed a new one. He's still rear-facing and I hope to keep him as long as possible but like others I expect to move him by next summer at the latest due to the heat and him getting air. Of course with the new carseat I needed a new car so we got a new 4Runner last week. LOL My little Rav4 looked like it was all carseat when DH put that Marathon in there it was so funny.
