I have been thinking about joining Gymboree. Alexander is at the age when he would benefit from running around!! I'll have to look into it. do they ever run any specials? What did you sign up for?

We did Music Together this summer and it was really good but I decided to do something more active for the colder months. I tried a few different places and for us, Gymboree was by far the best. I just signed up for the basic membership. The enrollment fee was $40 but I got a coupon in the mail so it was only $20 and the monthly fee is $59. This gets you one 45 min structured class a week plus there are 3 opens gyms that she can go to. I am sure we will take advantage of those when the snow starts and we are stuck in the house...yuck! The monthly rate goes down after 6 months of membership so there is an incentive to stay. I really like the flexibility. There are classes almost everyday so if you can't make it on the day you signed up for you can re-schedule very easily. They even have some classes on Saturdays so I thought DH could take her a few times. So far it's fun. Abby really needed to be around peers. The only kids she is around on a regular basis are my nephews and they are 3 and 6. Plus it's a great way to meet other moms in a relaxed atmosphere.

Ash - those are so cute. I think I voted ... :-)

kpm - I signed up for the free class next Wednesday to check it out. I think it would be worth but I couldn't tell on the calendar when the open gyms are. If they are times we can make I think i will do it. Ours is $70/month for the one class ...

That's great! The open gyms were not listed on my online calendar either....when I registered they gave me a print out of the times for open gym. I hope you like it. I think it is all dependent on the instructor. Ours is great and I can tell she has a background in early childhood education because she really tailors the class to the developmental needs of the kids. So I feel like I am getting alot for the $$$.....

Friday. Ahhh. Almost the weekend. I wish I could fast-forward to Monday though, and find out if I got the transfer. I think I did, but I just don't want to count my chickens, you know?

And I am really excited to get this WDW trip sorted out and planned, and BIL and SIL fly back in tonight, so I'll probably see them tomorrow.

Oh, Ash- that sucks! What's going on?

Well, it looks like all the girls at my branch are pretty positive I'm going to get the transfer. They were all planning who go to move to my station and talking about the new girl. I told them they had better not count their chickens or they'd be stuck with me! ;)

I'm going to miss them if I get moved.

But I keep getting sick. Since June I've had strep throat, 2 colds, and just this week I've ran a fever around 102-103 and I don't know why. I have no immune system.

ellery is saying words, or trying to! She says Mama, Dada, Nana, Papa, BaBa, and Hi! (with the hi she also waves)

Ugh, I am the same way with getting sick, I get so tired of being sick all the time! And strangely, I only had 1 sinus infection the entire 10 months I was pregnant! :confused3

That is great that Ellery is starting to talk already! And I voted for your overalls - you were in 3rd place! :thumbsup2

That's too bad about your disney trip, what happened?

So... I am thinking of trying out Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover program. Or www.youneedabudget.com

Anyone ever try these?

I haven't tried any of these, but I have read the book "Smart Women Finish Rich" and tried to apply some of those concepts. I also have an accounting degree, so I understand the concept, it's just forcing myself (and especially DH!) to follow it! I always reason with my self that I "need" things I really don't, you know? Or have to get something just b/c it's a good deal.

Oh, and good luck with the transfer! That will be great to have such a short commute!

****************

So I finally finished my antibiotics for the mrsa last Saturday, and wouldn't you know, now I have a stupid yeast infection. :headache: I just can't seem to get well lately!

But Alex did the cutest thing today - we have a CD player in the kitchen that we listen to while making dinner and stuff, and he pointed at it today and said, "music," then while I was turning to start it, he started singing, "Yo ho, yo ho," pirate: He doesn't know the rest of the words, so he just keeps repeating that over and over, so cute!

And I have a bad case of baby fever right now, especially for a little girl, but I know it's just not the right time for us. :sad2: I want to at least wait until we are in our new house, and preferrably after disney so I can go on all the rides, since it will probably be awhile before the next trip.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! :goodvibes

Finally, a few moments (or an hour!) to catch up with everyone! I was working more childcare hours this past week or so, plus had friends from out of town visiting and then had the big consignment sale last weekend. I brought almost 200 items and sold about 25% - I should earn around $125 - but I spent about $225 on stuff for Owen! :rotfl:

Michelle - sorry about everyone being sick, and glad you're feeling better. We refer to it as "up" for the puking and "chuck" for the other end, and ask each other "is it mostly up or chuck this time?" Keeps us laughing when we're feeling miserable. :)

Becky - Wow! Glad V is okay, and sorry about the drama with your mom. Hope the transfer goes well.

Denise - cute pics! Glad Mo is okay after the crib dive.

Ash - sorry about canceling your trip. :guilty: The overalls are cute - I voted!

Stacy - DH and I did an Alaska cruise for our "babymoon" before Owen was born. It was very relaxing - just watching the scenery and resting - except for all the morning/afternoon/evening sickness I had.

Hi to everyone else and sorry if I missed anyone - I'm trying to remember everything I've read...

No baby fever here. I do feel nostalgic for when Owen was a little baby, but I'm not confusing that with wanting #2. I really think we're done and we'll stick with just one child. We'll see...we decided we have until I'm 40 (3.25 years) to make a final decision.

As for the flu shot, we'll all get it because DH is diabetic and we need to keep him as healthy as possible.

Tomorrow we're going to a Gymboree birthday party! It's the first party invitation Owen's received, and it will be fun to see him playing there.

Owen had his 9m appt yesterday, and is now 17lb12oz (10%), 27.5in (25%), and HC is 17.5in (35%). He's on track developmentally and doing well, except that he has "retractile testes" - his testicles sometimes drop into the scrotum, and sometimes retract up into his groin. DH calls them "super ninja boy parts"  . It sounds like it might resolve itself by the time he's 12m, but if it doesn't, he might need surgery. DH is strongly opposed to surgery when Owen is so young, but he wasn't at the Dr appt, so we'll see what he thinks after he talks to the dr.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I actually laughed out loud. This is SO something my DH would come up with!!!

Hopefull, they'll fix themselves and surgery won't be an issue, although at least he'll be young enough he won't remember it!

I am working on things. I am going to see if the library has Dave Ramsey's book, and then I'll make a decision. I am really disorganized about our finances- I forget to pay bills on time, forget when things are due. I NEED a system.

ANd thanks- I find out Monday if I got it or not. Either way- it's alright. I like the branch I work at now- just wish it didn't COST so much to work there (with gas $$).

Yeast infections are awful. Get the pill. A woman HAD to have invented that.

The pirate thing is too cute!

And I hear ya on the baby fever. But, same thing here- it's not the right time, and I want to go to WDW next year, and I want to save some $$ first. It could be a rough ride!

I am the same way. I am getting better but I am still pretty bad. I have most of the bills done online automatically. My problem is spending. I just spend to much ... $20 here, $30 there and it adds up so fast. DH doesn't help but he's usually pretty reliable. I am the type to try and fix it myself and let him be!

We have a spreadsheet tracked out until mid January and it looks like we should have $X in the bank by then. DH and I were looking at it last night and I told him I didn't account for a few things so it was more like $X-8K. He was like :scared1: WHAT? $8K, that's kind of a large discrimination don't you think?? I just know that we can blow through $2K in a month while THINKING we are on track!!!! I am going to go back to couponing and making a shopping list. I bought a new pda cell phone and was wondering if it was too much phone for me but DH told me I should use it to menu plan and writing a shopping list ... I am sure that will help me. I just spend a lot of money stopping at the grocery store!!! I have been going to Publix lately because it's closer than Wal-Mart but it is soooo much more expensive.

Good Luck ...if you find something that works, let me know!!

DMickey- I will let you know!

I talked to SIL today- poor thing is so sick (she said it started on Tuesday). Yuck. But, they had a good time. AND- like I knew she would, she has a plan for us for next year's family trip. :yay: SO, I was bummed for no reason.

I guess they got incentive points at SSR for signing up for DVC, so we're going to stay there. We're hammering out some of the details tomorrow night. It'd be cool though- I have never stayed at SSR- and I think it looks really nice. I like the proximity to DTD, and I loved taking the boat when we stayed at POR.

She really liked going this time of year, though- she said it wasn't crowded at all. However, on the Jungle Cruise she dropped my nephew and he hit his head hard on the concrete (the day before Vaylie took a spill- weird, eh?). So, the paramedics came and she was hysterical, but they got VIP seating for the Halloween Parade! My nephew is fine, btw. Kids and their heads. :headache:

I think I need a new stroller....

Congratulations!

its just your typical no money sucky stuff. i hope it will just be postponed for a couple of months and not cancelled all together. it's really hard to get my DH interested in going anywhere to begin with.

So I need advice. What do you do for teething problems? Ellery is miserable. She's not sleeping at all, unless I give her tylenol before bed and I can't do that often. I'm just feeling like a total failure right now.

Why can't you? Is it a problem with the meds or you feel like you shouldn't give her the medicine?

If it's because she really can't have Tylenol, then look into teething tablets (they helped Vaylie some) or Motrin. If it's because you feel bad giving her medicine like you're doping her up- think about it this way: you're giving it to her for pain; it's not going to fix it, but it can help make her much more comfortable, and that is a good thing, for her and for you (you need to sleep too!)

I alternated Tylenol and Children's Motrin- Motrin seemed to work much better. And add some Baby Orajel- Vaylie hates the taste so putting it on was a pain, but once it was on she felt much better.

ETA- Vaylie was never much for chewing on things, but I have heard wet frozen washcloths are good, as are cold teething toys. ? Beats me, but maybe it would work for Ellery.

And I hear ya on the "no money" stuff. :sad2: I hope it gets better and you just postpone the trip for a little while. DIsney will still be there (that's what I keep telling myself too).

I am up "chucking", as Bethany would say. DId you girls give me the stomach bug?
