We just got back on Wed...so I haven't had to time to post any reviews yet.....but we did the new luau Sat.nite.
I haven't been to the old luau so I have nothing to compare it too......but we really enjoyed it
On the way in you recieve lei's , are checked in and are led into a waiting area until they are ready to begin seating. While you are waiting there is an opportunity to have your picture taken. The photographer will come around later on and show you your picture if you would like to purchase it. We didn't have our pic taken so I have no idea about packages or prices.
You are seated in accordance to when you booked you ressie. We booked in nov. for March and were in the 2nd row of tables.
When you get to your table there is already a plate of salad with mandarin oranges, coconut bread and fresh pineapple. Soft drinks, bud, bud light, a chablis and a cabernet sauvignon are included also.
They begin the show while you are eating your appetizer with a basic intro of the characters and the plot.
Then your dinner arrives. Roasted chicken, ribs, a type of rice, and some vegetables. All were good ....my bf loved the ribs....I was lucky to get one.
After you done eating...they continue with the show.
Basic plot....Aunt Winnie is throwing a party because her niece is coming home from the mainland. When she arrives she has a hard time adjusting to her island heritage. So they do things to help bring it all back to her. They perform songs and dances from different areas of the Polynesian Islands. The fire dancing was pretty neat. The female and male dancers are definitely hard on the eyes either.
They conclude with a presentation of the volcano cakes. Not sure exactly what these were but they were really good. They bring each person and individual cake. I managed to get half of mine. DBF ate his and the other half of mine.....and he is not a dessert kinds guy.
We really enjoyed this dinner show. It was my bf's highlight of the trip. He is already telling me he wants to go again next time.
Beware.... this resort is so beautiful....it may make you have to start planning your next trip there.
