The New Lizard Lounge

Angel: It is so good to hear from you! I am truely sorry for all that Tim has been thru, and continue to pray for his recovery. Your faith must have been a source of strength throughout this time. Your interviews for donor awareness will help those who may not have friends and family willing to donate to them, so God bless you both for your willingness to open your heart. CHeck in when you can, you are in my thoughts and prayers daily.
 Nancy

Angel, I'm going to echo Nancy and say that it's wonderful to hear from you and I'm so glad that Tim is doing well. Hopefully, you'll both get some much needed rest and get back to your daily lives very soon. Best wishes to you both :grouphug: .

Thank you everyone for all the good wishes and prayers.

So how is everyone doing today in the lounge?

We have made ressies for WDW after Thanksgiving this year! Woo Hoo :Pinkbounc pixiedust: I am getting really excited about a upcoming trip. Guess I just couldn't wait any longer to book. :scratchin So now the fun part of planning and dreaming.

Anyone else planning any trips?

Ann

Hi Ann. Doesn't it feel nice to have a trip in the planning stages? Which resort are you guys going to stay in this time? There are still no Disney plans for us, although I'm helping my sisters out with their trip to Fort Wilderness next April. My DS and DH are going to Nice, France in mid-April for skating. I was thinking about doing a "girls" trip somewhere with my daughters while the boys were away. Disney is calling my name, but it would be school vacation week and I honestly don't enjoy it when it's that crowded. We did end up renting a house in Lake Placid for a week this summer, so we have that to look forward to. Like everything else in our lives, there is skating involved, but Ducklite (aka Anne) gave me some information on a great spa in the area. I can at least plan on a few hours of pampering myself ;) .

Continued thoughts and prayers for everyone.

Angel, I'm so happy to hear the good news! What an incredible story! It's amazing how God's miracles work, isn't it? What a great thing you did for the entire community. {{hug}} to you and Tim.

Hugs to the rest of you!! By the way, you heard me complain often enough about the changing table that has been four years in the making (LOL), so now I will share the finished product with you. Here it is:

Here's a picture of the matching crib, which was done four years ago. Both are made from pine, and my DH designed and built them both.

Unfortunately, my next trip won't be until December of 2007, but I am really excited about it. And if nothing else, I have plenty of time to save up for it. :)

Setting out some cordials and desserts for everyone's enjoyment tonight. Hey, I can have a cordial now!!! :cool1:

Angel: Your story was so powerful I wish it had been televised nationally. That is the kind of thing we need to see on the news to give us all hope that there are still more good people than bad in this world -- not something you really get from the national news services.

Steph: That crib looks incredible -- and time consuming. I can't imagine even attempting like that. What a family heirloom that will be -- not just something valuable but something made out of love. Absolutely beautiful.

We do have a trip in the planning stages but it is April 1 this year. Much closer than all of yours. It's for DD's adoption day (celebrated each year like a birthday at Disney where we went to celebrate the day the judge made her adoption final in 1999). I can't imagine having a whole year to plan a trip. The waiting would make me crazy. Living close is definitely an advantage.

Pixie Dust to all.

Funny story -- Do you all remember back in early september I had asked your opinion on e-mailing the parents in my DD's class to invite them to a B-day party at Disney? I knew it wasn't a good idea although it was appealing and all of you pretty much agreed? Anyway, yesterday I got a phone call from one of the parents in my DD's class. Guess what, they are having a surprise B-day party at WDW this weekend and wanted to know if DD could come up for it. Of course I said yes and now we have another spur of the minute trip :cheer2: but I just thought it was so funny. The reason she waited is because she didn't want her DD to get wind of it and didn't trust anyone not to tell the kids. Interestingly there are only two other kids going.

I'll think of all of you while I'm strolling AK on Saturday. Have a great weekend.

What a great story! Have a great time, and I will be thinking of you also...but I will be cold. :goodvibes

Good morning, Ladies! Well it looks like we are in for a warming trend here, so I am in a better mood. I love hearing all about the trip planning that some of you are in the middle of, because ours seems so far away. We are planning for the end of January, and I hope that we will be able to follow through. You all have heard about my DH, and how hard it is to get him to vacation with us. Now that he can't say no to our Kady, it is looking easier. BUT: we have some major purchases this year, so we'll see how that goes. We knew that we needed to furnish our living area now that the addition and renovation is complete, and we also want to finish at least part of the basement. And pave the driveway. But there is always another but, isn't there? Saturday, my DH truck finally stopped running. Now he has a lot of quirks, and this truck is one of them. It is a 1978 Chevy pickup that hew has had for 21 years. He kept fixing the poor old thing, and it kept breaking down. We live in a small community, and everyone knew about Buddy and his attachment to this rusty bucket of bolts. Anyway, I had to rescue him and all of the new greenhouse plastic, etc. Well he is in mourning, along with some severe sticker shock.( This is a man who thought that you could buy a stove for $300, and was told we call those gas grills.) He needs a heavy duty vehicle for the farm, so the price is a bit higher even for a used vehicle. I need :wizard: to keep my Bronco running, because his poor heart won't survive replacing 2 vehicles at the same time. He is still trying to cope with the (his) plan of replacing mine first. Oh well, enough about this.

Angel: I am so glad things are going well in your home. How is your knee? Minniesummer is right, it would have been nice to see the national news pick up your story. We could use uplifting news to inspire good people to do good work.

Steph: Your baby furniture is beautiful! What a treasure to have a set that was made with a Dad's loving hands. How are your little ones?

Minniesummer:What a nice way to celebrate a special birthday...witha family tradition! I know that you will enjoy your "special" trip.

Tammi: Your post made me smile, because my sister always planned vacations around her DD's who played softball. There was not so much traveling involved as there is with your DS, but teenage athletes require a lot of "scheduling". It's awesome, isn't it? The amount of time these kids train, and still maintain their commitment to school and home is amazing.

My godchild is a catcher for CCSU, and has a major conference game scheduled in April She is one of the two best catchers in the country, and this game she is opposite the other girl. My sister said that there will be olympic scouts at the game. Debbie never talks about it, but we are very proud of her accomplishments.

Minniesummer, I hope you and DD had a great time at Disney this weekend. My cousin lives near "the world" and her son's seem to be at Disney at least a few times a month for someones birthday celebration. I envy you guys being so close.

Steph, hope you and your little one are doing well and getting plenty of rest. The changing table and crib are beautiful. Your husband is very talented.

Nancy, doesn't the forecast for this upcoming week sound nice? I swear when it hit 49 on Saturday, I took my jacket off and wore only a sweater outside. They're even talking the possibility of 60 degrees this weekend. It might be a nice opportunity to break out the shorts, or at least open some windows and air out the house. Sorry to hear about the passing of DH's truck, but 21 years old! That's amazing. I hope he is that lucky with his next purchase. As far as the house stuff goes, you're right, it's a never ending process. Once you finish one project, another pops up. Best of luck to your godchild in her conference game. That is an amazing accomplishment.

Off to get kids to school and start our day. Enjoy everyone.

Hi Ladies! I have good news on the truck front! DH broke down and bought the truck he really wanted. He is still clutching his heart because he never spends money on himself, but I think that the day that I forgot him at work clinched the deal. It was not on purpose, but it did serve the purpose. :goodvibes ANyway, I hope that mine lasts a little longer, because the poor guy cannot stand anymore too soon.

My BIL seems to be doing okay. He is due to have a third round of chemo, and then the Dr's will reevaluate him. The girls are back to being annoyed with him, so that is a good sign that they are adjusting to the whole situation. My DS still does not need to cook, as his Mom copes by cooking all of his favorite foods, but low fat. Still much better than my DS meals. He says that he doesn't remember telling his Mom that all of these meals were his favorites, but that is a mother's perogative.

Minniesummer: How are your Mom and Dad doing? I think of them often, and always include your family in my prayers. As always, you have my best wishes for their health, and your continued strength.

Minniesota:: I keep thinking about your Dad. I know you are planning a visit with your sister, and I am sure that this is the best medicine. I continue to pray for a complete recovery for you dad.

Angel: Hopefully, things are getting back to normal in your household, with a rapid recovery for Tim. Please remember to take good care of yourself. It is always easier to think of others, than to set some time aside for yourself. Best wishes for your hime.

Steph: I know that you must be enjoying your two boys! There is something so wonderful watching babies grow, and watching a little ones reaction to the baby. My DH nephew brought his new son (he is not little, he takes after my DH) and my DGD was having a hard time when Buddy played with him. He had to make sure taht he had room for two. She is happy withthe baby, and misses him between visits, but is a little possesive with "her Pa".

Tammi:: It is Spring here in CT, and I am so enjoying the sunshine. Did you get any of the wicked weather that came through this past week? I don't remember such high wind in a long time! Oh well, it is part of March in new England I guess.

Elizabeth, I sometimes see your Posts in other forums, and marvel at the way you express yourself. To be able to wish others well in the manner that you are able to is truely a gift. I hope that all is well with you.

:sunny: Hi Everyone,

Boy it sure is quite here in the lounge. :listen: I know….everyone is in WDW except me. ??????? So how is everyone? I know it has been a very long time since I have written. In fact I have not been lurking either. I have been slammed at work. I guess taking off four plus weeks with Tim had to be paid for. So it has been some very long hours to try and catch up. Between work and trying to take care of my sweetheart. I have not had much time for my boards, but, I have certainly missed everyone here on the DIS. :grouphug:

Tim is doing pretty well. He gets tired rather easy, but is getting stronger and trying to accomplish something each day. Last week he re-glued our antique oak chairs. He did two in one day and was sore and had a headache for two days. Needless to say the other two chairs are going to wait a little while and then only one at a time.

Next week I have taken a day off to take him to his surgeon. Then we are meeting with Cardiac Rehab. They on doing a BIG work-up then see how he responds to the beginning level of PT. They want someone to drive him to the appointment and be there. It should be interesting and educational. I am hoping he will enjoy it, hopefully meet some neat people and work to get stronger.

Nancy- I am so glad your husband got a new truck. :thumbsup2 I hope he has fallen in love with it and is over the sticker shock. How are your sister and BIL doing? They are and have been in my prayers. Thank you so much for your prayers and good thoughts for Tim. You ask about me. I am tired, but I feel things will get better once I have the taxes put together this weekend for our appointment Monday.

Tammi - How are you and your family doing? You have some very nice plans coming up this year. I really am sending pixie dust :wizard: your way for a WDW trip this year sometime. Maybe you can head out while we are there. It would be super to get together. We will be there after Thanksgiving and plan on staying at the Poly in concierge then over to AKL. I am having difficulty getting concierge level at AKL, even this far out. They are showing they are full, and that was the end of January. So we have a standard room right now. I am not sure what is going on there. I hope something will open up in April.

We keep second-guessing ourselves as to where we want to stay. First we think we want to go back to a resort we know and love. Then we think it would be wonderful to try someplace new and different. We are really having a hard time decision. We talked tonight about staying over at one of the Epcot resorts. Last week we were considering the Dolphin or Swan. I just know I had better made reservations if we are not staying at the Poly and AKL.

How is your son doing with his performances? WOW France. :cool1: That is really Big. Congratulations to you ALL for achieving such a high level of success. I am sure he works at his routine more hours then most of us spend at work each week.

Steph - Your husband woodworking is wonderful. He is very talented! The changing table is beautiful and it appears to be a piece of furniture that will grow as your little ones do. Oooooo I just noticed you have a trip report with pictures posted. I must go back and take a look. Everything you do is so professional, I am sure I will like I had a mini vacation when I finish.

All right lizards. I am putting out a large breakfast spread from Boma. We are having fresh juices, Boma special omelets made to your request. There is also a large plate of fruit and on the sideboard I have placed an assortment of pastries. I have pots of fresh pressed coffee ready when you are.

Have a good Saturday Everyone! Sending prayers and Hugs

Angel

Hello everyone!

Nancy, I'm glad to hear that your BIL is doing well. How funny that his mom is cooking up a storm--she must be related to my grandmother who thinks that eating will fix anything that might ail you. She's 87 now, so she must be onto something there. My prayers remain with your BIL and his family in the days ahead. Thank you for the sweet compliment--it really means a lot.

Angel, I'm glad to hear that Tim is growing stronger as well. I know PT is difficult, but I am sure it will do him a world of good. Keep us updated!

I have a question for all you experts. How far in advance can I book the Chefs Table at V&A? I would really like to have this be a very special dinner for Tim and myself.

Good morning ladies,

It is snowing here, and I am not liking it, so I am planning a vacation!
Angel, I am so glad that Tim is feeling better and that you are into the planning phase of your trip. V&A! How awesome is that??????

Now I have been scouring the boards, but I know that when I need info this is the place to be. We are planning on the Poly next January. I really loved AKL, but DD wants to be on the monorail line, and DS wife has never stayed there and would like to. DH, the softee, said go for it when I told him that "the girls" have their heart set on it" We are not going to request a lagoon view because I cannot justify the extra money this time. Are the GV locations nice? DH will indulge the little one with extras and character meals, and he will also treat them all to extra meals, etc. So, do you think that if I just request a balcony, and connecting rooms that I will be okay? I was at Tikimans site, and liked where Tokelau and Tahiti were located, but I honestly won't know what I am asking for. I really got confused by all of the longhouse locations. Once again I am here for advice, and thank you for your help.

:wave2:
Hi Nancy, So good to hear from you. I have been wondering where everyone has been lately. This thread has really been slow…maybe when tax season is over. :rolleyes1

You are going to enjoy the Polynesian. Tim and I stayed there last year for four or five nights. We requested and received Tahiti; we also requested a third floor lagoon view room. It was a wonderful and we enjoyed watching the castle change colors at night. It was also very nice to be on your balcony-relaxing sitting with a glass of wine and Wishes going on in the distance.

That being said, I know you will enjoy your GV room very much. The grounds are beautiful. Wherever you turn you have flowers, greenery and water. Tahiti is not right by a pool if the is important to you. It is less than a 5-minute walk to the GCH. However Tahiti is very quite and right around the corner from the Disney Ferry, which is a great way to travel from your room to the MK, especially if you are loaded with strollers and kid stuff. The TTC is also right near Tahiti; you can get on the monorail to MK or take the Epcot monorail. Very convenient :thumbsup2

Another plus with Tahiti is all the rooms have double sinks in the bathrooms. Even the concierge rooms can’t claim that. When are you planning your trip? Tahiti is scheduled for rehab. But I don’t know when. It would be great to stay there after their redo. Be sure to request either a third floor room as they have a balcony you can sit on. The second floor does not. You also may want a first floor room with a patio. Either way it is beautiful.

How is your family doing? You all are in our prayers, especially your BIL.

Hi Angel,
I knew that I could turn to the "Ladies in the know" for some advice. We are planning for January 19th thru the 28th. I would have loved a LV but would rather have more time and less view. I am all over Tikimans website, and liked Tahit and Tavalu because of the double sinks and larger rooms. There are 7 of us with 2 rooms, so a little more room is always nice. We would love a balcony. I do not want to be too specific in the request, because I really want connecting rooms. Do you think that if I request Tahiti, balcony, connecting rooms and no smoking I am boxing myself in too much?

Thank you for asking about my family and including them in your prayers. My BIL is doing okay, my sister does not say much, so no news is good news. She will share if the tests do not go well. Everyone else is fine. Chris arrived in Iraq, and says that there is more to do this time around. He has more access to email, so he can let his Mom know that he is okay more often. Buddy spends almost every spare minute at the farm, so I also wind up there a lot. I was not the most efficient assistant when we were filling trays with soil, but I told him that I was free. As he was cleaning another pile of soil that I sent flying, he just said, "You are not free." Not really sure what that meant.......;)

How are your plans going? I know that a vacation will be the best medicine for the both of you.

Hi everyone. It's nice to see that things are going well for everyone and that so many of you have trips in the planning stages. I'm mad at my DH right now because I told him the only thing I wanted for Mothers Day was AKL for two nights that weekend. I checked, they were available, called him to tell him the cost and when I went back to book them they were gone. :sad2: So is everything else we wanted so I guess I don't get to go. But that doesn't mean I can't plan for our Christmas trip so I have a question for all of you Concierge people. I know you all have your favorites but what exactly makes you like a specific concierge over another? Is it the food, the service, the rooms, the location, the resort itself? Be specific if you can.

Happy Easter Everyone !

Just hopping in for a quick hello and wishing everyone a wonderful Easter.

Got to get planning on our Holiday trip. Taxes are not done so I can have fun with Disney. :cheer2:

Sending prayers and pixie dust.

MinnieSummer, I will try and get back tonight to answer your question in depth. Good question. :thumbsup2
