The ~New~ Hulk Stand-Up Coaster

Today, I went to Universal for a quick vacation before school started. While there, me and my brother were talking about how cool it would be to ride a stand-up coaster. Therefore, we thought of a great idea of seeing the Hulk as a stand-up coaster. This is a great idea for Universal,(read in middle paragraph.) Everyone who reads this message and thinks this is a good idea, please Rate 5 stars, Reply to thread, subscribe, and SPREAD THE WORD, for best results. I will be reminding Universal of this forum everyday!

The good thing for Universal is that they can have to world's first stand-up launched coaster and the first stand-up coaster in Florida. This "WILL" attract lots of customers which will, increase Universals values and profit. This is probably the easiest way to to attract attention without wasting money.

I think you for taking your time to read this message, and the next time you go to Universal, when you feel the Hulk in action, just imagine yourself standing up.

Terrible idea. There used to be a stand up coaster at Great Adventure back in the day and it was the most uncomforable coaster experience ever. There is nothing wrong with Hulk, why ruin a good thing?

There's plenty wrong with Hulk, it is the most painful roller coaster I have ever been on.

But that is not going to be solved by making it a stand up.

I've been on Mantis at Cedar Point and Georgia Scorcher at Six Flags in Atlanta,I liked them but won't put them in the amazing ride category.With Hulk getting rougher over the years I don't think it's a crazy concept to consider,my question is would a stand up coaster work with Hulk's launch or with the general ride itself or are wasting our time talking about it.If it would work,I wouldn't be totally opposed to it if they can make it work.

No, sorry. The ride's been designed to safely carry people sitting down. The g-forces for the ride have been designed and engineered around a sitting down person. Putting stand up trains on the ride would make it unsafe for anyone riding it, because your center of gravity has now changed, and is not proportional to the way the track has been engineered. Also, the ride clearances have already been built using sit-down trains (clearances meaning the distance between track and supports or track and other objects). Since stand-up trains are taller, it would require re-working of the clearances, meaning redesigning supports, tunnels, bridges, station, maintenance bay, launch tunnel etc. It would be almost impossible to convert from sit-down to a stand-up, mainly because of the amount of positive G's the ride would now be inflicting on your knees, back and legs.

Iron Wolf at Great America was a stand up coaster.
it sucked big time.

your head was constantly banged side to side.
It was taken down this year and no more stand up coasters for that park.

I havent been on the Hulk in a while...maybe need to check it out again next time I am there, to see this roughness people are talking about..

Hulk is a lot smoother now that it has been repainted.

My local Six Flags got a "new" (relocated) standup coaster this year and I'd prefer Hulk stay a sitdown coaster.

I also hope it isn't ever converted to a floorless coaster like Sheikra was at Busch Gardens. Floorless coasters are so gimmicky to me since you really need to sit in the front row to get the floorless effect and I really preferred Hulk's trains with a floor compared to the 2 floorless coasters I have ridden.

Can't stand stand-up coaster. Had one here in KC ages ago and it lasted only a couple of years. Not nearly enough interest to keep it going.

Ninja at SFOG is bad,however the two roughest I've been on have to be Manhattan Express at the NY NY casino in Vegas and Kong at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo,Ca. As far as Sheikra going floorless,I can't see how that was a bad thing,sure it only works for the front row but on a Dive Machine coaster like that one it was a good change.I love floorless coasters like Kraken,I know you can't always get the front row for the best ride experience but when you do get it I think it's amazing.

The stand up I'm most familiar with is Mantis at Cedar Point. If it ends up becoming anything like that it would ruin what I consider to be an already great coaster.
Plus Mantis hurts your man parts.
