The New Hub

Yes. Yes it does. Because beyond the "perceived benefit of saving a few minutes", it improves the guest experience to where I'm not dreading going to the MK like I have been lately.

Having returned from the MK from last week, I am not pleased at all with the changes to the hub and if you look at the increased volume of guests . . . the guest experience has NOT improved by the new hub alone. There are numerous congestion points that extends way beyond just the hub area. So even if you go with the premise that the hub helps reduce congestion (which I am not buying), there remains congestion points throughout the park . . . so the Hub panacea doesn't alleviate several other choke-points throughout the park . . . so what is the RX for those points of congestion?
So assuming you save a couple of minutes of hub congestion . . . you are then greeted by numerous other congestions throughout the park . . . will those points in the park also be going to receive changes like what occurred with the new hub? Guests just need to pack their patience as they navigate through the parks, as has been done for many years, albeit I have to say the guest volume in the MK has grown exponentially over the past few years . . . so leaving a lot more time will be needed between points within the park.

if it's that bad for you stop going complaining on a message board isn't going to make them change it.

So lets be clear IRT this major structural change to the Hub. This change is the equivalent of going to a resort and entering a lobby of that resort. First impressions of that lobby are important in terms of your perceptions of the resort or hotel in general which is the equivalent the theme park. Obviously, the Hub or "lobby" is not going to sway my opinion or others as to whether or not I or others will go/stay at that theme park. The hub is a passthrough or gateway into the park and I already know of the quality of the hotel, because I have been there many times, however, the environmental change is significant and I recommend to you that you visit the park first before commenting . . . your opinion may be altered against the change or perhaps not once you have seen/experienced the major change to the park.

Will complaining about it on the boards change what has already been done to the Hub . . . no in terms of having it return to the original state. Nor did the complaints about changing the Main Street Bakery to a Starbucks didn't change anything either or for that matter the hundreds if not thousands of other complaints that are posting on the boards. I shared my complaint with a CM when I was in the park last Tuesday and that individual understood my concern without explicitly endorsing it, because they are not going to do that . . . the CM did indicate going to City Hall and issuing my concern may help in some of the future build-out of hub.

Than
I'm happy to read their comments, even if I don't necessarily agree with them. That's what a message board is all about.
Thanx Jeff. I appreciate being able to voice MY OPINION, and reading others OPINIONS, even when we don't agree. SOmetimes their OPINION makes me think about mine, and sometimes has even caused me to change mine. ANd yes - I thought that's what forums like these were about, stating opinions and points of view, as long as that was done in a rational manner, without personal attacks. I was trying to say that "the issue" to me was much wider and deeper than "just the Hub, or a bit of grass and waterway" but maybe I'm the only one that feels that way, or was not expressing myself in a way anyone else could understand very clearly, even though it has very recently been expressed on the podcast. However - like I said - I felt it got pointless, and I must have been doing a terrible job trying to explain myself, because every conversation went right back to "just the Hub" so I stopped trying. And I always said - nothing that I felt will keep me from returning - I acknowledge and own that.

I will say that being told "calm down" and being called a "soldier" was a bit personal (and wrong, since I am a US Navy vet) and uncalled for. But - that's just my OPINION.

You are entitled to your opinion. Now I haven't seen it in person yet but from all the pictures and video I've seen of it I happen to like the look of it and think that once all the work is done it's going to be a great addition to the Magic Kingdom that has been long overdue. Will what someone says on a form sway my opinion not very likely but it's my opinion. Just as what I say won't change yours.

Sometimes what people complain about at city hall can have an impact but other times it's not going to happen and the CMs lily know that but will direct people there anyway to give them somewhere else to direct there complete a little more ficaly.

I am too it's just that when they get argumentative with others it's a little hard to understand what they mean. It can sometimes come across that the opinion you are sating is fact and everyone else needs to listen to it because you are right and they are wrong.

kcb1dizbksfan, let's be real here, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion. I disagree with you for the most part but I'm entitled to that too. Me and my girl are actually going to Disney World in October so I can't say I've fully experienced the new Hub at Magic Kingdom. I feel that you do have a valid point that taking away some of the beautiful aesthetic of the original hub is different and may at times not work in crowd control sometimes. But at the same time, Disney has to try & make the necessary changes to make it a better experience for you, me and everybody else. It's not going to please everybody but from my years of going to the parks myself, I've noticed that the full benefits of some of their changes typically aren't fully realized until maybe a year or so, if not earlier, after the change is completed. We all will not like certain changes Disney makes but it's the nature of progress. In my opinion, with all due respect to your feelings of course, I feel that you should try to have an open mind about it and just have fun man, it's Disney World!!!! LOL. Maybe next time you go there, you can possibly think of ways to use the new hub to your advantage, just saying. From the clips I've seen on YouTube and been reading on this board and others, I'm already thinking of ways for me and my Queen to enjoy the fireworks and parade at the new hub. I think the new Hub looks breathtaking, can't wait for us to experience it ourselves. Change is good most of the time, we may not like it but we must adapt as best we can.

Wow! Lots of very strong opinions. You know, Disney can't please everybody. I think they are doing the best they can to accommodate what seems to be growing numbers of people, world wide, visiting this magical place. I'm pretty sure it's still magical! We all are challenged by change...but....like life...it's inevitable. For those of you who are upset with the changes....I hope it doesn't ruin your experience at Disney. For me....I'll love it till the day I die...no matter what!

Let's be clear ... The Hub renovations hasn't changed my overall favorable opinion of the park ... I was there all day and enjoyed my day and will in the future.

I don't want to diminish your hopes of being able to view the Fireworks, however only approximately 300 FP's will be issued for the Hub and the probability of obtaining those FP will be difficult to obtain given the thousands of guests who visit the MK daily. Net/net the addition of the Hub will actually increase the concentration of guests within other areas within the park.

Actually the number was about 650 for number of FPs for the new viewing areas. I heard they have had a lot of no shows so they upped it to 900 to see how that works out.

The 300 FP number came directly from a CM who I spoke with last Tuesday working the Hub.

Where are you getting your higher number?

I heard from someone who used it this past week. Maybe it's 300 per side which gets to that 650 number. But they also said they were getting a lot of no shows so they were going to test a higher number around 900 total.

This is the key to me. The Hub for me is a passthrough. If I'm in Adventureland and going to Fantasyland, I do it via the Hub, not via Frontierland/Liberty Square. I almost never go past the Tangled bathrooms for instance.

Also, this is clearly an agree to disagree, but the Hub renovations have a new aesthetic. It's not they it is better or worse than before, simply different.

Thanx Jeff, back atcha!

By the way - as a "side note" - ever since my first visit after 9/11 in Dec. of 2001, which was also my first time seeing the Partners statue - I have made it a personal tradition to spend a few moments looking at the Partners statue, remembering those we lost that day, and also honoring those who have served, and are serving, and all emergency responders, every time I visit. Being there soon soon after 9/11 made me even more "grateful" for others sacrifices, and also made me think of how many people who we lost that day had plans for visits in progress at the time, or thought to themselves "someday I'll go", or whatever, and never made it. So - this conversation does relate to "the Hub". :)
