I'm guessing it was just an off night. It's a signature restaurant, it wouldn't get the attention it does it if served bad food every night.

I'll be there for my birthday dinner this June, I'll let everyone know how it goes.

But then again, I'm a loud mouth New Yorker, I'm not going to accept gressy food. They will hear it from me at those prices! I'm expecting a perfect dining experience and I intend to have one.:rotfl2:

I've been reading about the GF photo shoot and pre-ordering CD, but that's about all I know. Anyone do this and can tell me about it?

I know the basics of Photopass - take photo, they give you the card, you go home, enter the number on the card, edit your photo, they mail it to you.

But is this pre-ordering a deal? Is the photo shoot worth it?

We usually just take our own photos.

A word on Narcoossee's (don't throw things, please!) - we were very disappointed. Our meal took two hours. And everything was greasy. My husband ordered the filet and it tasted like the gas flames it was cooked on. I ordered the tilefish and it was greasy and tasted like it was reheated.

I love love love Narcoossee's (and almost everyone I know has been extremely happy with their meal there), but my boyfriends mom had the same complaint about the tile fish. maybe everyone should just stay away from the tile fish?

Or if you're looking for another great GF restaurant try Citrico's. It is my personal favorite. I am a big time fish lover and i had the best meal of my life the first time i ate at Citrico's (I had the swordfish). Their desserts are yummy too;)

I ate at Citricos for my 40th bday and had a WONDERFUL time and service and food was excellent. We went back for Xmas Eve six months later and it was a total bust.:sad2: I haven't been back since. Don't even want to try it again, it was that much of a disappointment.:guilty: Have you been there recently?? Our last time was Christmas Eve 2006. Just curious if maybe we caught Citricos on a bad night. :confused3

Disneyscotland, welcome to the GF Thread!! Congrats on your upcoming marriage. Hope you have a fabulous time!!:goodvibes

We did it last year when it first started. Back then it was free if you had pre-ordered the CD. You get your own PhotoPass photographer for about 3o-45 inutes who takes you all around the resort and takes your picture. It was a lot of fun! We intend to do it again this December with a Christmas theme :santa:

If you pre-order the CD, you save $25.00. The photoshoot is also only $25 instead of $50 (I believe)

I was there in August '07 and had another great meal. However, my aunt who loves Citrico's went on New Years Eve '06 (about a week after you were there!) and was very disappointed to find that they had a special "holiday" menu that had very few choices. perhaps that is what happened to you? In August we had the typical full menu and great service so we were happy.

We had a less than great dinner at Citricos on Christmas Eve back in 2002. The food was great as always but our server wasn't. I also don't think he was a regular as that was the only time we saw him there. And they were absolutely slammed. I just think it probably helps to lower expectations a bit on holiday dinners.

I love the new menu for Citricos and plan to schedule dinner there for our Fall trip. It's not on our list for our May trip but I made those reservations months ago.

Lower expectations for the higher holiday prices?? I don't think so. If they are going to raise the prices over the holidays for the SAME food (it wasn't a holiday menu & I ordered exactly what I did 6 months earlier) then they should up the CMs working and the level of service, too. The dinner was yucky (I am a fairly decent cook but certainly not a chef, haha, and I could have made it better & tastier) and the waiter was an unfestive unhappy pill. We left and went and had some snacks in the lounge. :rotfl:

LOL, I don't mean lower expectations in terms of quality of the food. That should be as good as always and was for our dinner.

I just mean when restaurants are crammed for holidays whether at WDW or anywhere, service can suffer a bit. I don't like that but it's the reality in my experience. So for the most part, we stay at home for holiday meals.

If at WDW ever again for Christmas I think we'll do what we did the two times we were there. We did the CP in Epcot. Those restaurants are always busy so nothing new on Christmas. And there's nothing like the CP.

And if you notice, the only times any of us have reported a less than satisfactory meal there have been holidays.:confused3

:rotfl: Oh, I am so not into yucky bland blah food for raised prices. :rotfl:

It just really seems like you never know how it's going to go. We've always loved Ohana (even thru their menu changes;) )and eat there at least once, sometimes twice per trip....the last time we ate there in March it was the biggest disappointment and even my DDs said they wouldn't care if we never ate there again. We aren't big on giving second chances.:rotfl: It's been YEARS since we booked Chef Mickey's because the food/character interaction were such a letdown from previous times.....that used to be a family fun favorite every trip.....never again. :sad2: When i mention booking it the kids all groan!:rotfl: Jojo still remembers how the mac & cheese tasted like "sweaty socks"...and she KNOWS her mac & cheese, lol.:rotfl:

Hi everyone I will be back on Tuesday and then I will start a new FAQ. I have organized all the GF pics I have plus some from others and will load them all and set up link to the first pages so its easy to find info. I am also going to add some links to menus that are available on the DIS plus links to room pics, and food pics from the dis.

Ohana was our favorite also until this past February. There was something different about the sauce on the meat. I cannot put my finger on it but I was sick the rest of the night. We are going to skip in Dec. This was always our first night ritual but now we are going to have to try something else...not sure what yet.

OK, now I'm really curious. What did you order that was so good your first time at Citricos and so "blah" the next?

And were prices really inflated at Christmas? I know they've started holiday pricing for the buffets and character meals but had not read that had happened for the better restaurants.

I still contend that it is no different at WDW than any local restaurant. Holidays are busier and service might suffer a bit. WDW can't conjure extra servers out of thin air. That's but one more reason to relish going when things aren't quite so busy.:goodvibes

'Ohana and Chef Mickey...uh, no...I don't think so.;)

I think one of GF's real strengths is the quality of their restaurants. No matter where we're staying, we enjoy GF Cafe, Citricos, Narcoossee's and V&A although rarely all of them in one trip.

Two out of four coming up soon though!:thumbsup2

I don't think that's the new one... I'll see if I can find it... someone took pics...
