We got the call today. They are moving us to Sugar Loaf. I was called by member services (using DVC points for this stay). Is Sugar Loaf a long walk to the main building where the monorail is? DH was injured in a car accident and can not walk to long before he loses sensation in his leg. I am a little bummed, but will get over once at WDW!

Sorry to hear you're getting moved, too.

Sugar Loaf is one of the closest to the main building. There is a map posted on the first page of this thread & you can take a look at the resort layout.

Thanks Lives4Disney, I am going to check the map. I also just realized that there are no castle views (at least that is what concierge just told me. Is there any room that someone would suggest trying to get? TIA

Hi - we're heading to the GF for the first time at the end of the month. We had to add a night at the start of the vacation because of an airline snafu (they stopped the Orlando flights, but didn't bother telling us until I read it in the paper!)

We won't arrive until probably 11 pm and the resort is booked solid (it took me 3 weeks of checking 3 times a day before I found a cancellation for that night!). I'm concerned about getting bumped and sent to another resort for that night. Has that happened to anyone?
I think you should be ok, but if you want to check and make sure, have them note it on your reservation that you are arriving late. Then get up the next morning have a good breakfast and have a great time!!!

I agree you will most likely be ok. I have had many late check ins at WDW hotels (and others)- not just the GF - and only a few wtih issues. It worked out one way or another and we weren't too put out.... We still take off to arrive late on Friday nights often. Sometimes we stay at the S/D that arrival night and get to the GF bright and early the next morning to check in.

Happy travels,

PS>.....I have a question.....About those turret honeymoon rooms.....do they have balconies??? I thought Janet had one that did not?? Do most??? Thinking late Sept 08 for our 20th anniversary.:goodvibes

Lives4Disney :)

Channing,

The turret honeymoon rooms don't have balconies, but have all those windows giving a great view (of course I've only seen pictures). The second floor rooms above Gasparilla's are the only honeymoon rooms with balconies. (And those rooms also have jacuzzi tubs, I believe.)

Thanks guys. I LOVE those turret rooms (I have been admiring them for a while, lol) and DH and I are in agreement we should go to our favorite place for our 20th. :thumbsup2 I just think in Sept we might like a balcony.:confused3 Hmm......Those windows sure do have gorgeous views, though, I agree.

Here's my sob story....:rotfl:

When we got married we were so broke we didn't even plan a honeymoon. It was all we could do to cover the nice wedding/reception....we didn't even have the money to pay our photographer for the pictures we paid him to be there and take. :guilty: During the reception my uncle gave us the keys to his Vero Beach ocean front condo so the Monday following we drove down to FL stayed there in Vero a week and a few nights at WDW in some hotel somewhere. Not even sure which or where! :confused3 Whatever was cheap.:rotfl: :rotfl: And the monorails were being upgraded so they weren't running and that was my favorite memory of WDW as a kid - the cool monorails. AND it was about 100 degrees out and DH got super sick with a high fever!!! And it gets even more pathetic but I won't go there haha.:rotfl2: Now we need to honeymoon in style at the good old GF while my parents (HOPEFULLY) come up and watch my kids here. ;) :rotfl: ;)

Go for the honeymoon rooms, Channing! If you get those on the 2nd floor, you'll have those nice-sized balconies you're used to up on the 4th floor. If you get one of the turret rooms, there's always the RPC 3rd floor balcony! There never seemed to be anyone out there.

I hope to post pics soon that we took of the GF early last month, complete with pics of our room (4203). We also did an intimate dining dinner on the 3rd floor balcony, and it was amazing!!!! :thumbsup2

All this talk of honeymoons, and anniversaries at the GF, and my (non) DH can hardly stand the place!!:lmao: How I got hooked up with him, I'll never know! Oh well, at least he lets me go when I want to, and my sister is my travel buddy who loves WDW almost as much as I do...

channing i thought i would miss having a balcony in our turret room, but the panaramic view VERY much maes up for it! plus we opened the windows a few times too so its LIKE a balcony! lol. plus it was january and a bit cold...but anyway, we thought we would miss it but didnt. the beautiful room and views very much made up for it!

Hey guys! I haven't had time to catch-up lately, with work and plans for our trip, but we just got back from RPC -- 12/27 - 1/2. It was a great stay -- very busy! The Osbourne family was staying on the 4th floor, along our hallway, and we saw them in the parks. A good friend in tours told me they had been in WDW for a while. My pictures look similar to other ones I've seen recently, but I can give you a few of NYE. I'm back at work today after our office closed for the holiday's, so it may be a few days before I get to pics. They took down the gingerbread house yesterday -- Jake, my youngest, was devastated to see it come down -- he thought it should be up all year! ;)

Happy New Year my GF friends!

I have a question about rooms. My family is staying at the GF in March for a week and I am already getting ready, we are so excited! I have already made a huge to-do list and my kids and I made a countdown poster on new years day!:yay: Anyways, back to my question. Do the rooms have fans in the bathrooms? I can only sleep with some type of white noise and I need to know if I need to pack my noise machine.

Thanks!

I would pack it if it isnt too big....My kids also need a sound machine and the fan wasnt enough! I can't remember if it is on a timer, too. You know, turn the knob and it lasts a little while?!?!

We had a ceiling fan and a fan in the bathroom. And the one in the bathroom was constant. The timer was for the heat lamp.

Have fun! :)
