:furious: BF's mother called yesterday, and he told her all about how we will be going to WDW in early Dec. There is a long pause on his end of the phone, then he says "Oh, okay." They talk for several more minutes. When he hangs up, he tells me that he will not be going to WDW with me now because his mother has decided that they will "convieniantly" (sp?) be celebrating the Holidays during this exact time frame. WHAT! They never do it then, usually it's more like early to mid January, and I have to send him there kicking and screaming because he dosen't like his family! Even worse is the fact that BF does not seem to care at all! :furious:

I pointed out to him that I have spent a lot of money on this trip already (I have paid in full), and that I really wanted it to be a special time for us, which is why we are doing CL. We travel A LOT together for work, and it will be nice to be in a nice place for once. It is also about the only possible time that we could get away. He told me to just go ahead and go alone, because he dosen't know that he will enjoy WDW anyway. He thinks it is like a big Six Flags and will just be "okay".

Anyway, now I have a major dilemma. The only other time we could go is between Christmas and New Years, which will be exponentially more expensive (I would for sure have to downgrade to at least LV) and more crowded (he hates to wait. Ever. For Anything.), or I can keep the reservation I currently have and take my Dad as a thank you for all of the great things he has always done for me. My Dad and I went together on my last trip to the GF and he loved it; we really had a great time, even though we foolishy planned nothing (over the fourth of July :rotfl: ). I think he would be over the moon with RPC!

So, what would you do?

TIA

Okay...what you could do is tell BF to tell his mom you cancelled the trip. DO NOT cancel the trip. Wait a little and I am sure suddenly, the holiday plans his mom talked about will change. You have your vacation back, and thwarted her plans to ruin it.
and then have a sit down with BF to discuss your feelings of mom having to much say. If marriage is in the cards, I would suggest, like others here, putting your foot down here or you will be dealing with it forever.

I too have a MIL you likes to try to change my vacations.
Good luck!

Thanks for the support, everyone. BF's mother thinks that she constantly must be the center of attention. When BF was in the ER because of his extremely high blood pressure a few months ago, I had to call her and tell her, and instead of asking me about his condition she proceded to spout off a list of all her ailments and grievances :rolleyes1 . And she used to be a RN!

I think that BF and I will be having a long talk about this. I know that he feels guilty that he always cared for his father (who passed away a few years ago) more than his Mother, and I think that is at the root of this. Even so, he ought to know that she is trying to play games and make him choose. Hedwig, I think your suggestion of telling her the trip is cancelled sounds like a great idea! :rotfl2:

Anyway, whatever happens, I"M going to have a great time in Disney! :thumbsup2

Janet that Tinkerbell arangement looked absolutley fabulous!

Thumpersfriends, we ate at Gaspirilla's on our last trip, and it was alright. I am very picky and don't remember particularily hating it. We ate at GF cafe for breakfast every morning, though, and it was wonderful!

Thanks everyone. Is there a special site like Tikiman's for the GF? I hope I can keep this a secret from my family about the MK view!

Does anyone know the hours that you can call IPO? I got a message from them today about booking a CP package. :cool1: :cool1: But when I call back I get a voice mail that says they can not take call at this time. I left a message for them to call back, but I am wondering what their hours are.

Thanks

Lyn, I hope you have the best time! Say "hi" to my friend Vonnie....If you need anything, she is the BEST concierge CM Disney ever had.

Travel safe & have a great time,
Channing

Hi ladies! I just returned from a "mom's only" trip. Room 4315. Then moved to room 4426 because we had smokers next door ( in room 4314 ). Both rooms were beautiful, the lounge was so relaxing, and the CMs helpful. The rooms seemed fresh without a lot of wear and tear. The beds were very comfortable. :)

My tip would be to watch the pool closing times carefully if you want to swim in the evening at the slide pool. It seemed to close every evening around 6 pm (maybe 7 ???) I was surprised because the Polynesian's volcano pool stays open until 11.

We utilized the spa and the massages were lovely. I would hesitate to recommend it, though. The spa only has 2 showers, which both had broken knobs. The steam room was out of service. The locker room is very tiny. I'm no spa afficionado, but I can say I was disappointed in the state of the place, especially for the price.

Any questions? We did the Segway tour and LOVED it! Great time! :thumbsup2 California Grill :thumbsup2 Everest :thumbsup2

Search doesn't seem to be working for me right now...But does anyone have a picture of the Lodge Tower Rooms? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Noelle

I know TripleFigs does. I don't know how you can find the pics, but maybe PM her and she will let you know where they are. ??? :confused3

Tinks
, Glad your stay was nice. Too bad about that spa. I thought I had read somewhere that Disney and the GF do not actually run that spa?? They should be aware of how unkept up it is, though. That's a shame. It should be fabulous. When we were at the GF in July, the pool seemed to close at about 8pm, but the other is open 24 hrs, I think. Every time we have stayed at the Poly that darn Volcano pool was overcrowded - like packed, shut down due to chem issues often & I thought their slide always closed early too. I much prefer the GF over the Poly any day, can you tell? ;)

Do you have more details about the Segway tour to share?? I signed my DH and son up for it for our December trip. They are really excited about it. They are doing the earlier tour.....I was told that they should be at Epcot by 8:15 am....If you did that tour, was that early arrival a transporation issue? Thanks for any info.

Come to think of it, I believe the spa is a Nicki Bryan spa and you're right, not operated by Disney. That kinda makes me feel better. Don't know why.....

Again, my 50 minute Swedish massage was heavenly. Cynthia did a great job and it made the experience worth it. I just feel the spa has outgrown its building and needs a little attention.

I'm a Polynesian girl at heart, but I did fall in love with the GF this trip. I've stayed here one other time, but for some reason this trip just took the cake. :) The pool areas at the GF were really nice. Spacious. We were always able to find chairs and there were 4 of us. I wish that the Poly had more pool "space" with more seating. The GF slide is fun, too. Housekeeping was friendly and always did a great job on our room.

Oh! The Segway! LOVED it. I will do it again someday. We did the 2 hour tour. Jeff met us at Guest relations which is to the left after you enter the park. He took us back to Segway Central in an Innovations building and showed us a quick video. He also demonstrated a bit. Then we went out into an open area inside the Innovations building and picked out a Segway. At this point, Brad joined us. He trained us on the Segway---taught us how to turn, start, stop, hills, etc. You go through an obstacle course. They both took the group outside to the World Showcase after that! Brad led the way and Jeff came along behind to "pick up the pieces" ;) he said. What a great tour! You won't have any problem entering early. Just tell them at the gate that your there for the tour. They are getting new Segways very soon. Brad was already on one. It turns when you lean on the main upright stick. No more switch on the handlebars for turning.

Anyway, so much fun!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Posted this in the code and rate thread as well, but thought some of you may know the answer as well.......

We are booked for 11/26 through 12/2. We are staying GF RPC. I know those rooms are all booked for our stay. If I call and try to use the code, will we loose that room? It looks like, from the posts I have read, you have to cancel your existing and make a new reservation. Can you loose the room you have booked already and will they just apply your payments so far to the new reservation?

TIA

I know this has probably been discussed ad nauseum, but I swear every time I try to do a search IT NEVER WORKS - EVER!!

So, can Tammy or one of you other experts tell me if there is an RPC room that sleeps five and has a MK view??

We have stayed in Sugar Loaf before and liked it, but to be honest, we have also stayed in a lagoon view room in Boca Chica which had a fabulous view of the MK and to be honest, we loved, loved, loved the view, the two balconies, etc...over the concierge services.

So, I am trying to see if I can get the best of both worlds for next summer's trip!

Thanks!!! :)

Absolutely, but they aren't guaranteed. You need to request an MK view room with the IPO department. There are actually 2 floors, the 3rd and 4th which have a whole wing over the Gasparilla's Grille and marina. Well, technically there's also the 2nd floor, but these are all honeymoon rooms. Great castle views. We particularly love room 4404.

You can just call CRO, give your current ressie number and ask if the code can be applied to your reservation. I always leave the conversation with "I will just keep the reservation I have and try again another time" - and double check that they didn't touch that ressie.

If all the rooms are already booked, though, chances are pretty slim the code can be used. I have also been trying to get the AP rate on my 12/19 - 12/27 stay. So far no luck, but I know people cancel/change plans all the time and there is some time until our trip for that code to work.....just keep at it. I have been lucky a couple times in the past so I am keeping a positive attitude!! It CAN happen! :sunny:

Good luck,

You are right, the code did not help at all. CRO tried to apply it to our package and it did not change. We will just keep what we have as we are really looking forward to our first GF stay and RPC at Christmas should really be great from everything I have read.
