Park purchases are left for you in the gift shop.

Thanks Tammi!! Do you know which gift shop?

And for everyone else, do you know if the GF is using the same refillable mugs as everyone else? Thinking about having one of those stuck in DS's basket.... Thanks!! Kristin

It was a great basket! We loved it and the GF wrapped the glasses in handtowels to ship them home for us. Here's a pic -- if it's not big enough, I can try to post another one from my home computer. It really was truly fabulous!

It had wine, the two classes, a roll of fabulous cookies, and several boxes of gourmet cookies, food etc. I liked it so much that I sent a similar one to a friend who was celebrating a birthday at the World in January.

How pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys are making this really tough for me to decide what to do!! :rotfl2:

Marcij, the theme pool is only open during specific hours. Depending on season, it can close as early as 6 or 7pm. The courtyard pool is available all the time.

Kristin, ours have always been left in the Mickey Mouse Mercantile on the 2nd floor.

Marci~That basket is beautiful! I am still not certain what I am going to do special for my family. I am really leaning towards a plate of chocolate covered strawberries. Although now I think I will need champagne for DH and I too!!

If I call private dining in the next couple of days, will they put the chocolates in our room on our first night? Or would it be better to do this when I'm there and set it up as a surprise for an evening mid trip? Opinions needed please:)

I leave in less than a week now, so I got our luggage out today, bought new waterproof mascara and extra batteries. Getting ready is actually fun (well, except the laundry:lmao: ) I know I will forget to pack something important!

Has anyone had the chocolate mousse slipper? I am considernig ordering one of these during the trip. I figure I can wait until I am there, however. I remember seeing pictures and thinking the one at CRT was not impressive, but the one at GF was truly lovely.

...the Pirate Cruise...

LoveThatDarnMouse, I have photos of the Grand Floridian's Pirates Cruise in an on-line photo album (along with photos of other kids' activities throughout WDW). Click here to open up my main "Kids' Activities" collection, and then just look for the album entitled "Grand Floridian's Pirates Cruise."

I do have plans to revamp the GF’s Pirates Cruise album since I have an awful lot of photos from that activity (my daughter has been attending it for years). However, I'm not sure when I'll get around to it. As it is, I have almost 8,000 photos sitting on the Flickr website and most of them are still marked "private" from the recent migration from Yahoo. I love technology; however, it really makes my life a pain in the you-know-what. ;)

I hope my current photos at least help in some small way. My daughter loves all of the kids' activities at the Grand Floridian. The Cast Members who run them are a dedicated (and fun) bunch of folks.

Any chance you guys can start this thread over again there is just too much info to read through and don't know whats up to date or not as the thread started 3 years ago???????

I would love to see two threads started. One that was specifically a GF FAQ thread, and another that was similar to what this current thread has become – a chatty place where people discuss all sorts of things. I believe the Swan & Dolphin has two such threads. Perhaps it’s time for the Grand Floridian, too.

I think it would make sense for TammiMcMan to start the official GF FAQ thread. She is an excellent source of resort information and could keep that thread on track. That is something that is needed in a Frequently Asked Questions thread.

As to the second thread (a thread that is similar to the Swan & Dolphin’s “Sigma Delta Sorority” thread), it could be started by any number of fine folks who help keep this place hopping. At least ten names immediately come to mind (if not more).

So, Matsterrocks, that’s my humble opinion, for what it’s worth. Please PM the Moderators and let them know what your feelings are.

If someone wants to start a new FAQ thread for the GF that won't be a problem. We can move this thread to the community board for those that still want a place to chat or you can start a new thread on the community board.

We can lock this thread and still keep in the sticky at the top of the resort board. Then someone can start and keep an eye on the new thread.

Just let us know what you want to do.

HI I was hoping someone could tell me if all rooms at the GF (Garden View) will have a daybed. We are only a family of four, but my kids are boy and girl and they don't want to sleep together if possible. I just figured that if I booked at GF it says it accomodate 5 that we would have a room with a "extra" bed of some type. I know this is probably just a day bench or something, but when I look at pictures I don't see this extra bench. Anyone know if I have to request to get a room like this? Can I even do that since we are not five people in the room. Is there some building that has a better chance of having a room like that? Thanks for any information.

I think a sofa/daybed is provided in all rooms but the dormer rooms (top floor) and the lodge tower rooms. One of my daughters sleeps on one of these and says that is pretty comfortable.

Re: the starting of a new thread, I think a FAQ updated info thread would be very helpful to me, but all this "chatting" has helped me alot as well!

When I stumbled across this thread earlier in the year when we first decided to switch from CR to the GF I felt a little intimidated by its size and the amount of "chatter".... but I think this is such a super friendly group (not to mention EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE!!!) that it is still so easy to get info.

CMbar, I would request a room with a daybed if I were you. I think Asta is right... for the most part all rooms but dormers and lodge tower rooms have a daybed. But if you don't request it, you might get a dormer room.

I know of at least one other room with no daybed but it's an accessible room with a rollin shower. It has a love seat instead of a daybed.

I think Tammi would be perfect to start a new thread if it is necessary. But I think this thread still works fine. Most of Cali's info is still accurate and most of the posts are GF related. Most importantly, people on this thread are very helpful. Whenever any of us have a question, everyone tries to help.

Isn't there some kind of length rule....when a thread hits a certain length, it closes an a new one is started?????

Yes, you do want to pre-book the pirate cruise, it does sell out. Call the 407-WDW-PLAY number and have your credit card handy.

Unfortunately no room for us. I wonder how often these things open up. Anyone have success getting a cancelled slot? Oh, and I thought I read somewhere that there were two of these a day but the CM said no, only one in the morning.:confused3

Great Pics Janet! Thanks so much. I will keep trying to get them in but it's not looking good. They did tell me there is a slot over at Port Orleans (i think) but for God's sake, I'm staying at GF, I don't want to have to travel there, kwim?

Hello -- To my knowledge, the garden view rooms either have 1 King, and a Queen Sleeper, or 2 Queens and 1 Daybed, or just 2 Queens. The day bed is usually between the TV and patio or balcony door in the rooms I have seen. Have been told by family members that the day bed was comfortable for a child. I would suggest calling and change your reservation to request the room with 2 Queens and a day bed, and state your need for the day bed. I 'm sure they will try to accommodate your request. Usually if you book for 4, (unless a room for 4 is not available when you check in), you will be assigned the room with 2 Queens.

Have a great trip!!!

On our last trip, our room had a daybed for DD which she loved! It looks like a sofa and is between the armoire and the sliding glass doors. We only had 4 people but we got one. She said it was very comfortable and she thought it was great that she got her own turndown and chocolate! I am planning on requesting one on our next trip! I'm not sure how many GV rooms have the daybed but I would just request it. Have a great trip!:)

I didn't see where anyone had responded to your question, so I thought I would. A couple summers back, I ordered a chocolate slipper for DD's birthday tea at the Garden View Lounge at the GF. It was delicious, and a big hit, though it nearly took an Act of Congress to order it, lol. I tried calling the GF bakery, got the answering machine, called again and got transferred to the Poly bakery, etc., etc. All on my cell as we were driving through many states to Florida! I finally got through to the GV Lounge staff, and they put in the order for me. I'm not sure who you call now to order, as everything has changed recently.

Thank you k&a&csmom! I like the idea of having it delivered during the tea as opposed to having it sent to the room. Was it delicious? Or is it just a nice presentation?
