Wow, DDW, those are some great pictures! Although I have to say that new building looks a bit obtrusive. Anyone else think that? I've only ever seen pictures of that area, but it looks so "crowded" now.

I think it only looks obtrusive when viewed from that angle which, fortunately or unfortunately, few of us will ever see. :-)

I have a tower room bay lake view booked & wanted to put in a request, but not sure how to word it. I wanted to be as far away from Chef Mickey's due to the noise from there. I will have a 4yr old & 1 yr old so we will be going back to the room for naps, plus early bedtimes. Any suggestions on how to word the request?
Thanks!

I just made this same request today! Have the CM add a note to the reservation: "Requesting a room on the north end of the hallway, as far as possible from Chef Mickey's."

Good News is that we are going to be staying at the Contemporary for the first time. Bad news is all we can afford is the Garden Wing Standard View, because we are going during Spring Break.
This is just morbid curiosity, but increases your liklihood of getting a free upgrade? Rate booked? Empty Hotel? Full Hotel? Mood of front desk clerk:confused3
I am really hoping it isn't hottness of guest....because I'll be shacking up in the broom closet:rotfl:
I'd love to hear free upgrade stories.
I understand it doesn't matter, but I keep reading all about you "Tower People" Now I have tower envy

Room assignments are made a week ahead of time, so the mood of the front desk staff on day of check-in has nothing to do with upgrades. I'm sure it's all about availability.

I stayed in November '08 during a not-so-busy time, reserved a North Wing room, heavily discounted rate. I got an upgrade to the Tower, Bay Lake side. A nice surprise. I asked if an MK view was available, and was told that only one upgrade category was ever awarded. I still felt lucky, and loved being a Tower Person during the trip!

I recall seeing a floor plan of the 12th & 14th floor of the CR tower. Can someone point the way?

The 12th floor looks exactly like all the other floors in the Tower, with the exception of the lounge since they took out 3 rooms to make it and here is a picture of the floor plan for the 14th floor.

Oops, a couple more questions.

Are the shorter-looking rooms on the 14th floor the same size as all the other rooms throughout the resort?

Are the hallways dark, as they're not open to the atrium below, on the 12th and 14th floors?

The standard rooms on the 14th floor are the same size as the other Tower and Garden Wing rooms. The hallways are not darker and you don't look down onto the 4th floor like you would on any other floor, so that means you don't hear any noise coming from there.

We are going to be staying at the Contemporary from Jan 23 - Feb 1 and staying there has always been a dream of mine so I have a few Question for you guys, we have a tower park view room booked and I was wondering are there any bad views? Are the lower floor rooms still considered park view? Should I make any kind of special requests besides highest floor possibe.

You Contemporary Vets have any pointers for me?

Thanks in advance.

Rooms 4911 and 4912 are about the best ones one could hope for, in a 'normal' budget....

We've been trying for these for years....

My same question exactly:cutie: We're also booked in the tower w/ MK view and I was wondering if there were any rooms in particular we should try and request for early.

That and do the parking lot lights take away any of the effect of the view/fireworks/etc?

We just got back from the 6th floor Theme Park View. It was amazing. Nothing effects the view of the fireworks etc. We were in 4243 on the 6th floor. Convenient location. Great views. We didn't miss a thing.

Awesome, thanks^_^ I had been wondering if all the orange lights from the lot might affect anything. They seemed sorta bright from all the pictures I've seen.

Not at all. We actually had the Christmas tree in our view as well. And even with all the lights on that massive tree, it never effected our view of the fireworks or castle.

My biggest gripe about the Contemporary Tower is where in the heck are the stairs!!!!!!!??? Waiting for the elevator took a long time sometimes. One time my DH scored us a walk up at Chef Mickey's for dinner and we couldn't get to him because the elevator took so long. We could see him and were yelling at him but couldn't get down. We did eventually get down and we did get into Chef Mickey's. I was wondering if anyone knew where the stairs were????

My family and I once had a Magic Kingdom View as low as the 6th floor which is the lowest floor you can get (there are none on the 5th floor because of the Monorail station) and we found nothing wrong with it at all. If you want to stay as high as possible then request a room for the 11th floor, since it's the highest none Club Level floor in the Tower.

In May 2000 when my family and I got upgraded to the 14th floor I forget which room we had, however it was either 4913 or 4915.
