Okay.....we are paying for the dining plan, not going during free dining. My question is this (and I would have searched but the search function is currently disabled). If we book some of these restaurants that now require a credit card, do they charge an amount on it to 'test' the card? I know that sometimes businesses charge a 1.00 or something to make sure the card is good, but I've also seen gas stations place a hold of 150.00 on them, so I want to be prepared for what Disney might do.

And for Cinderella's Royal Table, do they still charge you full price at booking? I know a few years back we ate there (only time) and even though we were on the free dining plan then they still charged us the full price at booking and told us that when we got to the restaurant it would reverse it if we were on the dining plan. I think we called back later and they refunded us or something when we linked it to our dining plan ressie....but I really can't remember because it's been so many years.

Thanks for the help :) Our 180 is tomorrow!!!! YAY!!!

I called this morning to book CRT for our trip in October and they did charge my credit card for the entire amount. I am now trying to figure out if I can get the TIW discount after the fact. The CM on the phone said they set aside a few tables as eligible for TIW which is the first I've heard of that. Hopefully the search will be back up soon!

I can't speak to CRT as I have never eaten there.

However, I was at WDW last month and ate at 'Ohana, which is one of the restaurants that requires a credit card hold. They did NOT charge anything to my credit card. I actually had the meal charged to my room, which was then charged to my credit card. But the restaurant itself never charged my credit card.

I have read on here that some people have reported seeing $1 authorization charge come through after booking restaurants that require a CC hold. I think this depends on your bank, and how they process authorizations.

As for CRT, they do charge your card when you make the ADR. When you're on the dining plan, they often charge cards in error or they will charge cards if you make the ADR not logged in under your reservation that includes the dining plan. They should refund you when you call in that case, not reverse it when you're at CRT.

I made my ADRs two weeks ago and they put a $1 hold for each one. The money wasn't an issue, but it caused me to reach my max authorizations for the day. (Cape May wasn't working correctly and it authorized $1 each time I tried!) I didn't realize I even had a max per day until I tried to use it at dinner that same night and it was declined. So if you have a lot to make, its worth finding out your bank's policy.

I made all of my adr's including 4 that required a cc number to back up a "no show" for the reservation and there was no charge made to my card for any of these reservations.

There have been a number of people who had their card charged for the full amount at CRT even though they have the dining plan. You need to make sure that you have checked off the box indicating that you want to use your dining plan credits. When you get to the page that shows the total being charged to your card, there should be no charge if it linked to the DDP correctly. You still have to give the cc infor for the "no show/failure to cancel" guarantee however. If it wants to charge the full amount to your cc, you should call and make the CRT reservation that way.

As for the TIW, there is no way for the reservations CM to know who is or isn't going to use the TIW since most people aren't going to mention it at that time or may not even have the card yet. Most people first mention it when they are at the restaurant. Our experience at CRT was the server refunded a portion of the amount we prepaid. It wasn't quite 20% because the cost of the photo package isn't included, just the food portion.

Thanks everyone....I'll be sure to look for the little click box that says I want to use dining credits. YAY, can't wait until the morning!
