The *NEW* Coronado Springs FAQ Thread

OK, when I first looked at pictures of CSR I liked the look of the Casitas, thought the Cabanas were OK, and definitely did not like the Ranchos. I had decided to try to request Casitas 3 as it seemed fairly close to bus stops 1 and 2, as well as the main buildings, plus there would be no way I could get a parking lot view. I know it would just be a request and that's OK. I thought I like the Casitas, but could live with the Cabanas, so my chances of avoiding the Ranchos should be pretty good. Right? Now after looking at dcg0317's pictures I sortof like the look of the Cabanas (still don't like Ranchos).

I'm taking my 73 y/o mother for her first ever trip to WDW in Dec. We will be spending 5 nights at POFQ before we switch over to CSR for 4 nights. She will have an ECV and I really don't mind walking, so if walking distance to the main buildings were not a consideration (we won't be using the pool), which area do you think a 73 y/o would prefer and why?

Does anyone know where the king bedded rooms are located? They charge the water rate, are they all preferred view?

The bus service was exceptional. We rarely waited for the bus (even though the bus stop at MGM is so far away!) and once we were on, it whisked us away without sitting forever. The resort was also centrally located to all the parks, with no park more than 10 minutes away by car. The key-card system for entering the resort by car was a total PITA. It never worked for me the first time and I even had to ask for the gate to be opened once by a sarcastic CM.

All-Thanks again for everyone who posted on this thread!

We were there last week as well, and had a problem with the gate as well. None of our cards worked for the gate. On our check out day 9/3 we noticed that they had workers fixing the gates with the underground wires dug up. I guess they were fixing it.

having stayed at the other Moderates, we're going to CSR next year. Although the Casitas look amazing especially at night, I was looking at the Cabanas. My DS (will be almost 16!) loves to hang out at the pool wherever we go and I'd like to be semi-close. So many posts have said the Cabanas are not very well themed. Say it ain't so!!!!

To each their own is what I say. The cabanas are my favorite, not because of the themeing but because the buildings are close to the main pool, bus stop and El Centro. For the amount of time I spent in the room, themeing is not my major concern when picking a location. If I'm not at the park, I'm at the Dig Site lounging by the pool.

The cabanas have the sandy beach, hammocks and reminds me of a shoreline village in Mexico or an island. Very beautifully landscaped too. Check out picks on my website below. I am sure you DD would love the short walk back to cabana 8a regardless of the theme.

Buzz is right. 8A is an excellent location for the pool, hammocks, and El Centro. My kids were steps away from the pool, in fact I could hear them at the pool from our doorway (we were in room 8257)

The walk to the main area wasn't far either. It was just over the wooden bridge.

i'm not sure i want to hear the kids at the pool! Is 8A too close? and buzz, I agree that i'm not spending huge amounts of time at the resort, but i want it to be nice anyway! BTW, since i always get up at least an hour before everyone else, planning on taking a nice early morning stroll around the lake, then stopping for breakfast for all to take back to the room. Buzz, I know you'll know how far this is and about how long it would take.

Thanks

Pooch

No, it wasn't too loud. I could if I opened my door hear specific comments like "Hey, over here", or "Let me try", or "Ok". I could not hear it if the door was closed.

It wasn't a constant thing. There was a chair right outside my room. I could sit in the chair and hear the comments. The slide was near the room. It was reassuring to me to know that my kids when they ran ahead to the pool that I could hear them.

8a was about a 5-10 minute walk to the lobby area. The entire whole lake, with some stopping to take a picture or look at things took us about 30 minutes or so. We also had two kids with us, so adjust your time accordingly.

One time I went out alone, went to the lobby, and went to the healthclub which took about 20 minutes (including lobby stop).

Esplanade is a 9/10ths of a mile walking, jogging and biking path around Lago Dorado. From cabana 8a to El Centro, it is approx 3/10ths of a mile.

The Dig Site is surrounded by trees which are very effective in blocking the noise.

Dh and I would both like to use it but will we be able to take dd in it at 1 year old or will we have to use it separately? I know some resorts and hotels have rules about this and I am not sure how strict CS is about it.

Even if they let you take Kylie in the hot tub, PLEASE be sure not to allow her in more than a minute or two. The reason that some facilities restrict little ones in hot tubs is that it doesn't take much at all to raise their little body temperatures up into the dangerous zone. As you know, a high temperature--especially for kids--results in a risk of brain damage.

Of course it's not as much fun to have you and DH split up with one caring for Kylie while the other's in the hot tub, but she's such a beautiful baby and it doesn't seem worth the risk. --I know I'm just an anonymous person, but I'd suggest you ask your pediatrician for their opinion on the subject next time you take her in.

I've been a lifeguard forever, and most folks think the reason we don't allow little ones in the hot tub is because they might drown. They don't understand that it's just as dangerous as leaving them in a car on a hot day.

Thanks for allowing my input on the subject.

Thanks for the advice and it is well appreciated. I had actually wondered and worried a bit about that. I thought about elevated body temps. so I didn't think that she would even be allowed in the hottub so I was kind of surprised when Buzz said yes, she is. Unfortunately we are not staying at CSR afterall now. It is still on my list of "must stays" for a moderate resort but Dh really wants to stay at the WL now, so we have made our reservation for there this time. (That one appeals to me too so it's okay. I want to try all of the resorts at some point anyway!) I don't think I am going to let her in the hottub this time. I agree it's not worth the risk and I was a bit concerned about it. If we do use it we will probably use it separately or only for a couple min. Just wanted to reassure you that I have thought about that and will take your advice to heart. Thanks! :)

Hi everyone,
Just peeking in for a moment. I was at CSR at the end of July for 10 days and I still haven't gotten around to writing up a resort report. I promise to do that soon :rolleyes1 ...

If anyone was wondering about Spa rules I thought I'd post the picture of the Spa Rules sign. Hope it helps :)

Does the CS offer coffe machines in rooms?
Yes, but they are the small four cup ones. The cups are light plastic. Be careful pouring the water on the top of the machine. It may spill.

Well, I finally did it! I made my ressie for the honeymoon.
Coronado Springs, here we come! :cool1:

Has anyone here done the dining pass & was it worth it? I know everyone says that booking everything through Disney is expensive but it seems to be really easy. It's almost like you can do an all inclusive feel with meals & recreation paid for in the Premium pkg. Has anyone done it?

I don't have AAA or an AP so my options for discounts are kinda limited. Plus, with planning the wedding, I don't want to wait to long to get things going.

Anyway, super duper excited!!!
Thanks for all your input!

First, I just wanted to say hi.... I have been reading this board for many weeks and finally decided to post....This board and especially this thread is such a wealth of information.... I have gone to Disney for years and even worked there years ago, but I always find so many helpful hints and ideas here....

Quick question, I am going to be at Coronado for 12 nights at the end of September and it will be my husband's birthday... I wanted to do something special for him and I thought a gift certificate for a massage at the spa might be nice...any idea of the cost and if I can pre-purchase?

Thanks for any responses..
