I had no idea the rooms were so high! I have always stayed there with the Florida resident rate which usually runs about $89.00 a night! We Floridians usually hate going to Disney in the summer so we usually stay around February. I have always wondered if that slide by the DIG is as fun as it looks? This is such a great place to stay!

my kids love the slide. My son has been going down it since he was 18 mths old. I cant say enough good things about it. I think we will try the fishing this time as both of mine love to fish with their daddy.
the bars are great at the CSR- if you have a drink in the bar area they have fresh salsa and chips. goes great with their yummy margaritas! I think they may be a tad cheeper than the ones in the pepper market.

I just booked CSR this week for August 21-28, taking advantage of the free MYW dining. There will be 2 adults and 2 6 year old children. I booked a non-smoking Standard View room, but now I'm thinking that I should pony up for a Water View room. If I do, I want to be able to see the water (preferably Lago Dorado) from my room. I don't need to see it sitting at the window (although that would be nice), but I would want to see it at least standing up. I also have a daughter who was born with gills. She's 5 years old and already has one season of swim team under her suit and will be swimming 3-5 times a week this summer. Not too far from the pool is important as she has little legs.

I like the Casitas section the best with the fountains and covered walkways. However, I read that the columns and other architectural details block the view from the room :(. Is that true? I am thinking of Casitas 1, 3 or maybe even 4. EpcotFan says it's only about 6 minutes to the Dig Site from Casitas 1. I'm thinking it's only a couple minutes more from 2 and probably just as close from 4 if you go over the top of the lake. Am I right? I think 5 is too far from El Centro.

I also like the Cabanas and the tropical feel. It sounds like 9B is the DIS favorite. 9A and 8B also have their fans. They seem a lot closer to the Dig Site, but how far to El Centro from 8B? I'm guessing it's only about 6 minutes. Are the Water Views good from 9A and 8B too?

The Ranchos holds zero interest for me. I don't like the architecture or feel at all.

So ... I'm sorry to ask all the same questions again. Given my preferences (see water from the room, 6-8 minutes to the Dig Site, really like Casitas better) what should my request be to CRO? Lastly, is the Water View really worth the extra $15 per night? I think I might be perfectly happy with a courtyard view in Casitas 1 or 3 (no cars).

Hi Robin,
Personally I don't think paying for waterview at Coronado is worth it, no matter what section of the resort you are in. Waterview can also mean pool or pond view. However being a moderate resort, there are walkways in front of all the rooms. Chances are trees or foliage will be blocking your view, unless you are on a higher floor in the Casitas. Even so, the columns may be in the way. I would book standard, and hope for a possible upgrade. I don't think any of the moderates are worth paying for a water view room.

It isn't as close from 4. It is a fair walk from 4 to the Dig Site. Also Casita 2 has rooms further out (depending on your room) than Casita 3 which is actually closer to the lake. Casita 5 and Ranchos 6A are the furthest from El Centro. If your daughter likes swimming Cabanas 8A is a good location for proximity to the bus stop and pool. We were last in Casita 3 and it was faster walking around to the Cabanas and cutting across the bridge than going the other way around the lake to the Dig Site. I've stayed in Cabanas 9B and it still took a couple of minutes to go to the Dig Site. 8B would be a bit of a walk. Either way, you are going to have a little walking to do, just like at all moderates. I would try to make my preferences for one of the options you prefer most, ie close to El Centro, close to quite pool, bus stop, etc...

Hope this helps. :)

Holy - this thread is long!!!!

Who wants to help me out?

DH, myself and our 3 yr old dd are looking to book here for a week :cool1:

Since dd is young but loves to swim, I am leaning towards requesting the Cabanas - we will be in a standard room - is this a good spot? Any other suggestions for this family would be great!!!

cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site over the wooden bridge. Most convenient. Mostly waterview rooms.

cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. The back portion does not have waterview and would meet your needs.

cabana 8b and 9a are inbetween the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool and is also a smoking optional building.

Cabana rooms are mostly waterview rooms or non parking lot views but that doesn't mean you couldn't get them at a standard price.

ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a. 6b is also close to the Dig Site but obviously further away from the main building. 7b or 6b would be other good choices.

The casitas are close to the gym, spa and have great fountains and courtyards. casita 5 is close to the Dig Site with a good walk to the main building. The lower the casita number the closer towards the main building. Casta 4 has a quiet pool.

Remember, with the new internal shuttle system, room location isn't as crucial as it used to be.

Thank you for all the info - do you think it is worth it to pay for a waterview in hopes of getting a better location?? The cost isn't too much of an issue (we have already upgraded from POP, heck lets keep going :rotfl: ) but I was curious. The casitas look really nice too - but don't most of the convention people go there?

Can you find out what conventions will be there during your stay? I am hoping most conventions are standard business and nothing off the wall.

I also heard it isn't owned by Disney - who owns it? Does it affect your stay at all - is it not Disney atmosphere???

I'm not sure it's worth the extra, because the standard rooms almost all have a nice view of the landscaping - and some waterviews are actually pool views - not views of the lake. Especially since there aren't balconies that you could sit on and enjoy the lake view. And there are plenty of places to sit and sip a magarita and enjoy the lakeview.

This most recent trip to CSR I requested Casitas since we stayed in Ranchos the last time. Well, we didn't get Casitas and got Ranchos instead - they tried to change it but couldn't because of our length of stay. Well - long story short - the Rancho location was wonderful - convenient to bus stop, shuttle stop, elevator, laundry room, quiet pool and theme pool. And even though it was in the very same building we stayed in before - it was at the other end, so seemed like an entirely different area. And in walking to dinner one night thru the Casitas, I was actually glad we were in Ranchos because it was so much quieter and serene where we were - the Casitas has much more of a party atmosphere - especially when there are conventions being held there. There were people out on the walkways all over the place and corridors talking back and forth to each other across the way - just seemed more crowded and active than where we were. Not saying anything is wrong with that - if I was at a business conference I'd probably be partying with my friends as well. But for a mother/daughter vacation - the quiet of the Ranchos was much more what I wanted.

As far as how "Disney" it is - it seemed just as "Disney" as any of the other Disney resorts we've stayed at.

quick question to all.....

I was looking online and it looks like all of the moderates have a bench with a mirror or hooks above it next to the armoire. I didn't see anything like that in the pics I saw from CSR, just a wall - do they only have the table/chairs and armoire like a value? Also the table looks really small comparable to others as well as only one sink? The grounds seem great but for some reason the rooms didn't look as nice as the other moderates - please prove me wrong :confused3 as I really want to stay there!!

Buzz,

You always give such quick and thorough answers! I've noticed this even when it's a question that gets asked over and over. Don't know where you work but your boss must absolutely love you! :flower:

a desk job allows me the freedom. most of the time I'm just copying a previously answered question so it really doesn't take me much time to find it with the search feature.

Thanks for your assessment. I guess I feel the same way as I have never booked a Waterview at a moderate. It seems that a lot of people pay for Waterview at CSR and I thought maybe there was something special about the views. Is there anyone here who books a Waterview purposely?

I think I will request a non-smoking Cabanas room near the Dig Site and take the luck of the draw (*gasp*). The fact is, I think I would be happy with any of the Cabanas buildings as they seem to be within 5-10 minutes of the Dig Site and El Centro. I guess I would prefer 9B, but I don't think there are many Standard View rooms in that building!

Thanks again for your help :). I'm really looking forward to staying at CSR.

Question - I will be attending a convention at CSR in two weeks and trying to figure out the best location for me, my ds(6) and niece (16)....There are some days where she will supervise him most of the day (she is very reliable) and we both have cell phones in case of unexpected emergency - I am trying to figure the best room location to minimize my trip to the convention area but allow them good access to the Centro, a bus stop and the pepper market?
I assume most convention guest are placed in the Casitas but would the others be better as a middle ground

Sounds good Robin. That is what I would do. I think you will have a greater chance of getting what you want by NOT requesting 9B and just generally asking for Cabanas instead. For my upcoming trip I simply asked to be close to El Centro. So hopefully this could mean Casitas or Cabanas. I would be happy with either location. I had a standard room booked in 2003 and asked for Cabanas 9B and fortunately got it. They gave us a pond view room around the back of 9B. It actually was quite nice. Very quiet and a short walk to Bus Stop #1 and El Centro.

In 2004 I needed connecting rooms and again requested 9B but they didn't have two connecting rooms so they put us in Casitas 3 - which we ended up loving as well. I actually would be pretty happy with any of the Cabanas. It really is a nice walk to El Centro from the Cabanas or Casitas. :)

I would suggest Casita 1 or 3 for your Ds and Neice. They are both a short walk to El Centro and Bus Stop #1. Maybe 3-5 minutes. I have a map on my website which might give you a better idea of how the buildings are situated.

Hi, everyone :wave2: !!
I just changed our reservations from Pop Century to Coronado Springs. I was wondering if any of you CSR experts know if the King Rooms at the Casitas Building 4 are on a certain floor and if the walk to the bus stop is far...it does not look like it from the map, but I have never been there. Thanks!

Not sure about which floor has the king rooms but the walk to the bus stop is close to casita 4

I've stayed in a king bed room at CSR twice now. Both times I was a couple minutes walk from bus stop 2. It was no big deal at all. It was also very easy getting to the quiet pool and El Centro, but the Dig Site was a short hike.

I hope you LOVE CSR as much as all of us - it's beautiful!
