We have a reservation for a standard room April '08. Can we request a specific location. Is so when should we do this? And, if so, what should we request to be close to the dig area/big pool?

We reserved a standard rm for April/May 2008 at this resort also. I was told to request my building of choice at the time of resv, but it's not guaranteed. So I guess we'll just hope we get lucky. I have 2 little kids and think that would be best for us. We chose cabana 8A or 8B, I can't remember which. Those are both very close to the digsite pool. If you look at a map of the resort, you will get a good idea of what else is close. (www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/cspringsmap.htm)

THat map is incorrect. Do not go by those numbers. Check out the map on my website below. Cabana buildings are 8a, 8b, 9a, 9b.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool and is the old smoking optional building.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool and is the old smoking optional building.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

Oh, that's very interesting. Glad you caught that. I had no idea the maps were different. Good grief, now I'm not sure which building I asked for!!!

You can't go wrong with any of the cabana buildings.

Yeah, maybe we should! haha. I just checked and found we asked for Cabana 8A. So I guess we'll be right by the pool if we get it. Buzz's website is the best!

We are also booked for April/May 2008. We have a waterview room reserved but didn't request a location yet. We would prefer to be close to the pool or the main building. One of the Cabana buildings would be great.

we leave the 21st of this month. I'm sooo excited. I requested 9B when we made our reservations but I remember reading you should also fax in a reminder about 10-15 days beforehand. Do others do that too?

Here is some great news I just heard from a good source and fellow Disney lover.

Rix (the new Francisco's) probably won't open for at least a couple of more weeks due to building permits (it keeps getting pushed further, but hopefully by the end of November anyway!). Rix is being describe as more of a disco with live entertainment, and it is supposed to look VERY nice when done - lots of money put into it.

Coronado is slated for room rehabs in 2008.

Coronado is looking at making the Pepper Market more user-friendly.

The outdoor bar (Laguna Lounge) was supposed to be temporary BUT now CSR plans to keep it and add an awning going outside, but I'm not sure how that will work.

CSR may upgrade their offerings from the room service menu as well.

I heard when we were there in Sept/Oct about Francisco's/Rix being a night club. Overheard one of the convention coordinators talking about it. The way she described it, it will "shake the building" with the sound system they are putting in (not sure I like that!), plus that it will have a cover charge and be 21+ after 9pm.

Definitely going to be a different feel in El Centro in the evenings....

I never really went to Francisco's either but it being in the main building and having a cover charge after 9:00pm won't effect me at all because I usually don't hang in the main building that late in the evening.

I faxed a request for Cabana 9B about a week before our arrival. I made sure it would be noticed by a cast member and pretty much begged for the room. When we checked in they had our request and we got the room we wanted. I think you can find the fax numbers on allearsnet.com and I know they're listed in the Unofficial Guide.
