Did anyone stay at CSR for free dining last year? I was wondering if they had rooms available last year for this promotion. I am *hoping* for free dining, and would love to try CSR. It looks AMAZING!:thumbsup2

I wouldn't say the entire Ranchos section is far from the pool. We stayed in 7b (I think that's right). We were on the side of the building that faced the main pool. It was out the door, up the sidewalk, maybe a minute's walk. Our bus stop was at the parking lot on the opposite side of our building next to the parking lot. We used our own transportation so it was a quick walk to the car as well.

I stayed 9/25-10/1 for free dining this past year....But now here I am trying to book for 8/24-9/2 THIS YEAR and CSR is booked solid!!! WAHHHHHHH!!! I am beyond upset over this :(

Great thread with lots of info.. I have read about 80% of it and still have a few questions.

We are going in December

Are the pools heated?
How comfortable are the beds?
Are the towels large or regular size (it matters to DH ;) )
What is the driving time to the parks? We will have our car and DH likes to have control.
Does anyone have a picture of a king room? This is what I requested so I would like to have a visual.

I am sure I will have more questions but for now that is it. Thanks as always for the info.

You are correct, 7b. Most of the ranchos are close to the main pool but are far from the main building. The ranchos are located on the bottom portion of the picture below with the casitas to the right and cabanas to the left. The pool is in the middle and the main building is at the top.

Click the link in my signature for a pic to the King room....it isn't much different except the fact it had a king bed instead of 2 queens.

Are the pools heated? yes they are
How comfortable are the beds? I find them comfortable, on the firmer side.
Are the towels large or regular size (it matters to DH). regular size, they are similar to all the resorts.
What is the driving time to the parks? We will have our car and DH likes to have control. CSr is 5 mins from AK, MGM and Epcot and 10 mins from MK. But for MK you have to park at the TTC and take the monorail the rest of the way. You're better off taking the bus to MK because CSR has stop #1.
Does anyone have a picture of a king room? This is what I requested so I would like to have a visual. see below. many king rooms have some sort of handicap accessibility feature.

I am heading to CSR for 2 weeks in June... This will be my first time at CSR... I have requested a King room... Which building would you suggest I request? It will just be 2 adults... We want to be close to what CSR has to offer and the bus stops.

Any advice? I am so excited...

75 days and counting....:cool1:

Can anyone gives us some room location advice? We want to be close to the main pool (didn't like the trek after a day of walking in the parks when were at POR last yr), don't care too much about being close to the food since we drive and bring a travel fridge full of staples and drinks, the Ranchos just don't seem our style, and being close to a bus stop isn't a big deal for us. I've heard that 9b is really popular, what other Cabanas are nice? We like the look of the Casita's - how far is Casita 5 from the main pool? We'll be there in early June.

Any advice is much appreciated!

My DH and I stayed at CSR in a King Room over Christmas. We LOVED Casitas 5. It was right across from the first bus stop, so it was never really crowded when we got on. The Main building itsn't very far away and it was a really nice walk. There is a small adult type pool about a building away. The other really nice part was that there is a smaller parking lot at the end of the casitas area, that was never crowded even though it was Christmas. Enjoy your stay and I hope this helps!

We stayed in Casitas 5 and thought that the walk to the main pool wasn't really bad. All we had to do was cross the bridge and then follow the path to the right. We took our time but I don't think it took us more then 5 minutes. There is also a adult type pool on the other side of Casitas 5 which was about a 4 minute walk as well.

Here are some good building choices.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool and is also a smoking optional building.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building.

see above post for room locations

There will be some walking involved at CSR but not as bad as some make it out to be. The distance around the whole lake is just under a mile (.97 miles).

Walking Distances
From El Centro moving clockwise around the lake path to:
Casitas 3 = .16 miles
Casitas 4 = .24 miles
Casitas 5 = .27 miles
Ranchos = .46 miles

From El Centro to the Dig Site, via the bridge near the Cabanas
= .35 miles

From El Centro moving counterclockwise around the lake to:
Cabanas 9B = .16 miles
Cabanas 9A/8B = .22 miles
Cabanas 8A = .31 miles

Ladybugsy, your dates may be fine...I was originally booked (but cancelled) for 9/24-9/30...it was available...but it's booked solid the end of August...Good Luck to you!! :) If only I could be so lucky!

Buzz2001, thanks for the link to the menu. If anyone has any particular recommendations for vegetarian dishes at PM, would you please post? Thanks!

Thank you Buzz2001! Your website is wonderful and I think after looking at the pics we are going to see if we can't get Ranchos 7b or Casita 5. Worth a shot. Of course, I think wherever we are, it won't matter as long as we are at Disney!

I like the salad station. Lots of salad choices and fresh fruit.

Hi Everyone! Reading through all the posts is making me so excited to return to CSR in May!!! My DBF and I stayed there for the first time last year and we absolutely LOVED the resort!!!! I can't wait to go back!!!!!!!! Less than 2 months!!! CSR HERE WE COME!

We will probably eat breakfast at the Pepper Market on several mornings of our stay...probably around 7:00-8:00am. Do you think it will be especially crowded around that time? Of course, I know it has a lot to do with conventions and their schedules. Wondered if anybody has had any experiences. This will be mid to late June.
