Yes, I would like to know this too as we are coming mid-February.

Also, are preferred rooms more? What exactly is a preferred room?

Martinique and Trinidad North are the preferred "islands" (groups of buildings) because they are closest to the main areas of Centertown/Old Port Royale.

Here are some shots of our refurbished room, Jamaica 4555. Our balcony overlooked the sidewalk to the bridge to Centertown, as well as the water. It was also very near parking and not far from the bus stop. Perfect location!!

Here are some photos of the building and the grounds right outside our room, Jamaica Bldg 45.

Our room is on the second floor where the balcony juts out:

Walked around a bit this morning before checking out and noticed they started working on Martinique 21. Barbados 15 is in progress and looks to be close.

We'll be checking in in 9 days! So excited! Just finalizing our details and praying no one gets sick between now and then!

Thanks to all posting pics and refurb updates! I'm getting so excited for our Feb trip, and it helps with it being so long away :-)

We booked a standard room, and judging from the pace of the refurb so far, I'm thinking or chances are pretty good for getting a refurb room when we go in late Feb. Any guess at what percentage of rooms have the Murphy beds? Maybe using another resort with Murphy beds as an example for percentage, anyone with more resort experience care to offer a wildly speculating guess? Or anyone know for sure? We sure would love to have one :-)

Good good, glad to hear they've begun on Martinique. We're banking on it being finished for March!

I believe the refurb is slated to be completed around mid-March. As it gets closer, there should be more of a definitive time frame. I'd make the request and if it's not necessary then nothing lost.

Preferred rooms cost more per night. They guarantee you a room that is near the main building (Old Port Royale), which has the concierge, food court, restaurant, and also near the main pool. The resort is very large, so many people will book a preferred room to minimize the amount of walking.

Just got back on Saturday from a week at CBR. I want to share my experience with this "mini" report. This is my fourth time staying there. This was a solo trip. I arrived via ME around 12:30; did not do online check in. No line at check in. I had booked a preferred room; one was ready, second floor Martinique. I hesitated and she told me that I could wait for a first floor. I decided to take the one that was ready. So glad I did. It was the perfect location. Building 25; short walk to OPR was great. I was on the dining plan. I did not have any issues with buses. Guess luck was on my side. Only time was heading from MK to OKW for dinner at Olivia"s. Waited at least 30 minutes for the bus. Long ride. This resort is HUGE. I had never been

Had lunch at OPR; Hamburger FF, Pineapple upside down cake. Pretty good. Headed to DHS. Rode TOT and saw Indiana Jones. Park was somewhat crowded. Boated to Epcot and walked around WS to get a feel of Food and Wine Fest. I had never been. Epcot was crowded. Expected that with it being Sunday and lots of locals take advantage of F & W. Had dinner at Biergarten; had never been and was very good. Enjoyed entertainment.

Next day headed to DHS. After a while there headed to MK. Had lunch at Village Haus; had chicken Caesar salad, Mango gelato. Rode SM, TMR with Fastpasses. Saw new parade. It is awesome. Bussed to OKW for dinner at Olivia's; Prime Rib, potatoes and green beans. Dessert of Banana bread pudding, scoop of ice cream and rum sauce. YUM!!

Next day bused to AK for late breakfast at Tusker House. Second time there and I love it! Stayed there most of day; used fp. Saw Lion King in new building. It is smaller. Headed back to CBR. Got CS meal of Cuban Panini and Pineapple Upside Down cake. Early to bed night!!

Up early for breakfast at H&V at DHS. Probably one of my fave meals of the trip. After riding a while boated to Epcot. Rode several things here (crowds were thinning) Ate late lunch at Mexico; salad and chirros. After a while I tasted the Braised Short Ribs from France and Cheddar soup from Canada. Both were very good.

Had breakfast in room. (for days I eat in room I bring from home individual cereal boxes and get milk from CBR grocery. Headed to DHS and rode things I had missed previously. Ate lunch at Catalina Eddie's; Pepperoni Pizza (greasy) small salad and banana parfait. Then went to MK; finally rode the Dwarf Mine Train; fun!! Had dinner at Grand Floridian Café. Had their fish of the day; Blackened Mahi Mahi. VERY good!!

Last day :( Went to Epcot and stayed there all day. Lunch at Sunshine Seasons. Tried Belguim's Potato and Leek Waffle (I know didn't sound good to me, but lots of people were raving about it, so I tried it and it was surprisingly good) Also tried the Beef tips from Africa. Also very good. Headed back; Halloween night and lines were LONG to get in to Epcot. Glad I left early. Stayed a while at Cabana Bar and watched the festivities then dinner at Shutters. Ribeye, potatoes and brocolini was good. To bed for early morning!!! Very good trip!!

Anyone have any idea about how much a taxi ride from the resort to Downtown Disney would be? My DH has a conference to go to the last few days of our trip at the Hilton across from DTD, and I can't decide if we should rent a car or just let him call a cab?

Just wrapping up another day, hubby's working on a client's mess. Every day we walk into our room we giggle like 2 school-girls! It's just so perfect, I'm sure some might consider it to be a bit removed from the "important" things (bus & food/pool) that is why we love it so much. So quiet and relaxed. I'll be posting pictures and more details from home, the Kindle really isn't suited to much posting!

Thanks for the report MICKFan! Enjoyed it and hope to have as good a time as you on my solo trip in 3 weeks + 4 days. Not that I am counting or anything. :rotfl2:

I think less than $15.
