The New Caribbean Beach FAQ Part VII

Does anyone know if I can call the resort the day we leave to find out what kind of room we are in? If we aren't in a refurb room, we are going to bring an air bed. Would rather not have to pack it if I don't need to.

The resort number is just a call center outside of Disney. They answer the phone as Caribbean Beach Resort, but they are not on site. They could not tell you your room assignment.

Hey y'all!

First post for this normal lurker! ;) Add us (me, DH & DS2) to the list please. Nov 9 - 16 2014. This will be a first time trip for both DS and myself. Can't wait! :hyper:

We will be there the same week as you! Maybe we will cross paths!

Hi
We're coming to CBR in Oct 2015, it's never too early to start planning, right? . It's our first trip to WDW since 2006 this time with DS4 , wow a lot seems to have changed! It'll be our first on-site stay too.
Apologies for the non CBR question (I'm sure i'll have plenty of those) but this is the only thread I'm following at the moment, so here goes :
Do the 14 Day Ultimate Tickets that we get here in the UK allow us to visit more than 1 park in a day?

TIA

Maybe you should post your question on the UK Trip Planning forum, http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=47.

My DD13, DD11, and I are booked at CBR from 2/28-3/7, leaving DH behind while we have our first girls trip :goodvibes. This is our first time staying at this resort and we are really excited by it. We are booked in a standard view room and if the weather cooperates with us, we will be enjoying the main feature pool and eat at Old Port Royale for breakfast a few days during our trip. I have been looking at the resort map and it looks like Martinique would be the best section to request, however I was wondering if there is anywhere else that is better. Of course I would like to be close to the main pool, the food court, and a bus stop (I know there are multiple) so any suggestions would be great.

We just returned from a trip yesterday and had a room in the Jamaica section. It and Aruba were just across the bridge and I found it a nice, but pretty short walk.

Unfortunately not. As PP said, the "resort" phone number is just a central call center that fields all resort phone calls. They won't have access to this information.

Besides, whatever room you are assigned to that morning has the possibility of changing up until the moment you physically check-in, based on the needs of the resort.

Not sure how to really post since this is my first one. I've been a long time lurker and info gatherer but after just returning after 8 days at CBR (also my 19th trip to the world) I felt compelled to write that I will never return to this resort. Not sure where to start without tears welling up. I'll start with room requests: I requested a connecting room and ground floor. Ground was noted for medical reasons due to my father in a scooter and my daughter who was suppose to be on crutches until the middle of our trip with a sprained ankle. I had requested online Jamaica or Aruba as close to the footbridge as possible (this was also sent in previous to the announcement of the refurbed rooms through our travel agent). I also sent in a fax the previous week asking to please consider our requests to help make mobility slightly easier for my 8 year old. We checked in last Saturday to be told we were in Barbados in building 16 in the farthest room away from not only the food court but also the bus stop. After asking to be moved closer if possible even will to pay for an upgrade if possible. I was told by a extremely rude CM it was not possible due to the resort being 100% capacity. This was even though he was checking me in at 10 am with the room ready. I had not let it get to me and was determined to not let it spoil my fun.

What did was the Mousekeeper that I ended up with. My room still had hair on the toilet when I first arrived from the previous guest. I left a note for mousekeeping the first day. Needless to say I finally had to clean it myself. I was lucky to get basic refills daily. Even when concierge sent a bag over it still wasn't correct. My beds were never truly made. The extra blanket that I had requested was thrown over the bed with the colorful runner under it daily. Requested clean sheets after my daughter lost a tooth and got blood on the sheets, needless to say when I checked out it was still there. Sinks were never cleaned and room never vacuumed. No towel animals or set up of stuffed animals. I had to stop tipping and by Thursday I was up at the custom house with the Resort Manager with pictures. There were others I spoke with who also were have a tough time and others who had no problems. After this experience we have decided to try out a deluxe. Hope everyone headed to CBR has a better experience than ours.

Is there a BB offer at CBR right now? I'm seeing in other threads on the DIS that people aren't seeing the offer in their welcome packet.

Will start by saying that your experience sounds pretty far from optimal. I honestly wish it had been better.

I wouldn't expect anything different from any resort though, certainly not a category of resorts. People have bad experiences at all types, though they do not seem to be the ordinary, it does happen.

Here is the thing, Disney gave you poor service, and as a result you are not only going to be a return guest, but you are going to pay even further inflated prices !?!?!?

How does this make sense, in any way shape or form ???

The service is no better at deluxe resorts, not one shred. They are supposed to do the exact same thing, the only difference being the size and styling of the rooms, and usually most importantly, the location of the resort and its proximity to the parks.

That just seems insane to say, well, they gave me crappy service, so not only will I return as a customer, I will give them even MORE money next time !!!

:confused3

Still not sure I'm posting correctly. Since it was the first bad experience I've encountered in 19 years, its not enough to stop me from coming back to Disney all together just seemed we had issues with this particular resort. I've stayed at alot of on property resorts and CBR was the last moderate on my bucketlist. I was very cautious going into this one because of all the mixed reviews I have seen. I was just hoping I would be on the positive side.
We decided to stay at a deluxe next year due to the less spread out feeling yet still not in-your-face Disney as the values but this experience push me to try another category. I will say the overall feeling I got from CBR was not what I am use to as a Disney standard. Usually when I go to with any concerns (which is not often) it is remedied quickly. This resort did not try to fix the situation until the third time I had to say something. The first time I went to the custom house, I was basically told that it wasn't possible. The second time I had to show pictures for them to believe me, they would see about possibility housekeeping for a redo the next day (btw they didn't clean again the next day) and then by the third time I was in the custom house in tears (which was my last day). My trip in the parks were fine but services as this resort were not. Others in my building were actually having decent service but I evidently ended up with someone who was having a very unmagical week.

Also have to figure out how to fix my ticker. That was my countdown from last year lol

and before CBR lovers jump on me. I'm glad others have had a great experience, I just wish I could also have been able to say the same. Unfortunately that is not the case for my family.

We check out tomorrow :(. My kids just found the paper about the treasure hunt and are upset because we won't have time to get all the answers. Anyone want to help them cheat? Lol. What is the "treasure" for completing it? We are sad to leave, but my poor toddler got pink eye today so she is quarantined anyhow. I'm sure it is now just a matter of time before the rest of the family gets it.

Well my kids won (after all WDW vacations are mainly for them how do we move them when they love the pirate rooms?) - would love to be closer to OPR but it's all manageable.
We are very close to bus stop (literally right there) - and next to laundry (doing some now).

Rain has been here to some degree every day - fantasmic cancelled due to it tonight - so we're a little soggy but not dampening our fun.

Side note: DH and I highly recommend MamaMelrose in DHS! Didn't see overwhelmingly great reviews but we were impressed! :-)

Are any preferred rooms finished? We paid preferred but I want a refurb room. Any suggestions on what to request?

We were there last week. The BB offer was in a booklet that was on the table in the room, not in our welcome packet. I think the number to call from your room phone is 8845 - someone else can probably confirm that. Once you call, you don't need a code. Just tell them you want to book the future stay offer.
