The New Caribbean Beach FAQ Part VII

If we request a ground room floor (for ease of parking stroller) will we be hearing much of the people above us? I know it will depend on who is there, but is there pretty good "sound proofing" throughout?

We've had ground level a few times and, like a previous poster mentioned, I heard a flush every now and then, but that was about it. I remember more noise from kids running past the room than actually in the room.

I need help with deciding when to go. Originally I was aiming for February 8th-16th.

Now, I know the latter part of that trip is President's weekend and we were actually going to use those days as resort/DTD days. DS5 will only miss 4 days of school (kindergarten) which I'm fine with and DH doesn't have anything going on at work.

A couple things that I'm not sure about is that we won't have our tax refund. I'm pretty sure we can afford the $5000 trip but I never know when things will come up. (And yes, I'm certain we will get a large refund with DH making a large chunk in commission and it gets taxed super high.)

Another option I have is March 7th-15th. Possibly going into high crowds with spring breaks for some. What are all of your opinions on how busy it might be then? My son has Friday the 13th off for teacher prep day. So, again will be missing 4 days. Only thing with DH is Spring Training for baseball in Arizona (He works for an MLB team). He may or may not have to go the weekend of the 13th. I told him I wouldn't mind him taking off Friday to go if that were the case. We'd all get home on Sunday.

Is weather better one of those times or the other? Will crowds be THAT much worse in March? Will cost be THAT much more one time or another? :confused3 Any insight would be appreciated.

We stayed at CBR two weeks before Easter this year and found it to be quite pleasant both weather and crowd wise. Easter break isn't an option this year with DH's work schedule and plus it's the week after Easter this year which I imagine would be busier.

Ok, we need a place to stay for 2 nights before our cruise. (November 29-30). I can get a crazy good price with Orbitz right now which would be less than our current 1 night at POR and 1 night off-site. The problem... We have a family of 5. Do I book it with the assumption that they will allow booking for 5 by late November? Better to wait and be sure they can accommodate 5? No matter what I book, I would have to call and add my kids later and there's no penalty for cancelling if I have to...

Thanks for letting me think "out loud" for a moment. Should I go for it, and hope?

We are arriving at CBR on November 9 and are booked in a Preferred Room - will any of those rooms be refurbed yet?

Please add me to the roll call! I'm staying here for the first time August 13th-18th. Was originally booked at POR but had to change my dates and they didn't have any availability in king bed rooms for the new dates.

Not sure I like the refurbs but hoping it looks better in person. Anyone have photos of a refurbed king bed room? I requested Jamaica, water view, even before I heard about the renovations.

I can't speak to CBR, but we stayed in a ground floor room at CSR last November and I was pleasantly surprised with how little we heard. We couldn't hear anyone walking, etc. We did hear toilet flushes a few times, but I suppose that could come from anywhere.

The only time I heard this was when I was in the bathroom myself! It's because they mirror all the rooms so that all the plumbing is clumped together - makes maintenance and access much easier in the event of a leak or something.

I never heard anything from any rooms above, behind or either side. I think some of them were occupied, though, as we saw housekeeping trolleys outside and you could peek in through the blinds as you walked past to see if rooms were occupied or not.

I'm a little concerned that the preferred buildings may not be refurbished by the time we come at the beginning of March. I'm in two minds about this: we like the current decor to the rooms but as I'll be sharing the bed this time I'd rather have the queen sized!

My worst nightmare will be if none of the preferred Martinique rooms are available while we're there!

Ok so it's not at CBR but here's the deal. I booked when FD 1st came out and worked around the fact that it doesn't start till SUNDAY Oct 26th. No sweat says me, we'll just stay close to the airport and pull the stupid back & forth on their shuttle and catch ME bright and early (since flight will arrive at midnight Saturday :crazy2:) I can't believe the crazy deal i got for FD -i lost my reservation in the back hole of the Net -- called to get my confirmation # and the price she quoted me was <gulp> close to $2,000.00 LESS than it was showing on -line. I confirmed and she giggled and agreed that the system had worked some weird but wonderful Pixie dust in my favour pixiedust:

Ok fast forward to the day the new RO discounts come out and quick glance on the WDW site and POOF we have a room at uhm, Music perhaps?? for a mere 113!! LESS than i could find close to the airport. Now the only thing i haffa worry about is moving from one resort to the other :confused3
I shall now do my best to settle down :rotfl2:
OOH look a TICKER! 1st time in close to 5 years, welcome back Figment :figment:

If you booked preferred, you may get Trindad North as well; I hope at least one of those is done and ready for you!

Stayed at CBR last year for the first time. We were there last year for the 25th anniversary celebration wasn't much but Mickey and Minnie showed up in some cool outfits on the boats.

We will be there starting September 27th with free dining.

Looking to stay in Jamaica.

Please add me to the roll call.

February 16 is also Mardi Gras, so that week will be extra busy because a lot of people from Louisiana go that week and on top of Presidents' Day weekend I have a feeling it will be very crowded.

If we went then the 16th would be our travel day :) I'm leaning more towards March 7th-15th now... but thanks! :goodvibes

please add us to the roll call November 15 to the 20th post cruise. Free dining wooohooo once again, cant wait to be back although I was a little disappointed in our last stay here Im hopeing this stay will be back to the magical place I had known it to be, issues with housekeeping and cms were just not what we encountered on previous stays. but I guess 1 trip out of quite a few isnt bad as all the trips we had in the past were top notch there! Not giving up on cbr, its a beautiful resort and the food court we have found to be very good!

Any idea on how far they are with the refurb? I may have missed latest posting - into Aruba, correct? Thanks!
