Okay I have an exchange in May at SSR - unless I add days before this at a DVC resort using my points - I can't get the new DVC member discount on annual pass.

right or not?

this is for member only - not just anyone who stays at a DVC resort - like UPH were.

or am I just trying to make it more complicated than it will be?

No one said you have to be staying there to buy the AP. However, we have not heard all the rules/restrictions yet. I imagine you would only need your DVC ID to buy the AP pass, not have a stay booked.

I spoke to a DVC CM in management a few minutes ago. The CM read to me from the upcoming Vacation Magic. I don't recall it saying anything about where you are staying. As a DVC member you should be able to buy an AP or a PAP. Be on the lookout for the upcoming Vacation Magic!

Do DVC members get a discount on APs? I didn't think there was a discount for Annual Passes. If so, please let me know, b/c I am taking my family there in a couple of days and was planning on getting the Utimate Park Hopper pass as opposed to the AP.

Thanks,

This will not start until January 2nd,so this will not help you this time. The new discount is 100.00 off AP and 125.00 off PAP.Renwal is 75.00 off AP and 95.00 off PAP.I forgot about Childrens passes.

It is brand new. See the following thread plus many others for more specifics. Not a lot is known yet.

Annual Pass Thread

Thanks for the information. Right after I posted this I saw the Annual Pass thread, like Happy Birthday Cat mentioned. Bummer it is Jan and not immediately. Well, I guess that means I will just have to come back next year. ;) (like that was going to be a problem.)

Ok, I wanted to post this question to the other thread but it was wayyyyy to long. How much does a AP or PAP cost. All I saw was the discount. We don't go but once a year and I doubt it will help us any. I will have to see after I know the cost. Thanks for the info.

Go to this page on this site for actual ticket prices: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/tickets.htm

Basically it will mean an adult AP starts at $303 and renews at about $275. That is basically an unbeatable ticket if you go for a week or more unless you already have a Charter Member AP. For many DVC members, this is like the perk of all perks, always pined for, never given. Jeesh! What are we going to have to complain about now?

I think you're making it difficult. Sounds like it's linked to a membership, not based on a points or even a DVC stay. I bet you can get the AP or PAP.

Hi!! I hope this isn't a repeat question. We are not planning to go to WDW until August of 2005, but will hopefully be returning in Feb. of 2006. Atleast that is my hope at this point. I had been already thinking about getting APs instead of our usual park hoppers since we will be going for 9 days in August and possibly for more in 2006. Needless to say, I am very happy about this new discount.

My question is: Do I and can I wait until August to purchase the APs and still get the DVC discount and it will be good until August of 2006 or do I get the "voucher" in January and it will be validated in August when we go. I am sorry, I have only bought one AP many many years ago so I forget how it works. Now with this new perk, I am more confused and wondering if you have to purchase them right away in Jan. to get the discount. Thanks for all your help!!:D

It sure is exciting, I just bought 7day park hoppers and right now it sounds like I paid more for them than the new discount. Sure can't wait to see something official and see what will happen. Anyone have any ideas? Hope I can change them.

I think you might find that the discounted price will be more like $297 for the adult AP with taxes included, as the $403 figure includes taxes. $6 is $6.

I am just about positive that you can wait until August to buy your annual passes. The only reason they are talking about January is that they are not available until then.
Hope this helps.

So, if I already have an AP (which I do), then do I get the $95 for renewing plus the $100 discount for DVC. If so, wow. No reason at all to have anything but the AP.

I'm sure you won' get both, this is Disney we're talking about. I suspect it's off the renewal price. I am told by a friend that they routinely get offers to renew that are far less than the listed renewal price if they renew EARLY, I'm also sure it will be either are in that case and not both discounts.

Just read your reply Wendy. Thanks!!

Now, I have been reading more about buying the AP with the discount after Jan.2 and getting a "voucher" which you can redeem for an AP at any time. I am now wondering if we should buy the APs in January, perhaps before a price increase, and get a "voucher" to redeem in August. Am I correct in believing I can redeem this in August and the AP will be good for a year from the date I redeem the "voucher". Anyone? Thanks so much!!:D
