Can anyone tell me if I rent an ECV from an offsite company will I be able to get into my room in AB.

Yes, but I don't think that all of the AB buildings have ramp access from the pathways up to the slightly raised walkways which lead to the rooms. Certainly building 14 has ramped access, but I can't say for certain which others do.

You should be able to request that you can get an ECV into the actual building without needing to request a fully Handicapped Accessible room. Call the Special Needs line if you want to make sure your requests are met.

Im sure this has already been asked but there are so many pages to read back through I thought *maybe* someone would be willing to answer

Any of the outlying buildings near to remote bus stops would be a good choice, but if you want to be nearish to the food court too then Alligator Bayou 14 is your best bet. See the map in the first post of this thread for locations of the bus stops and buildings, and a few location suggestions.

They seem to have removed King Bed as an option during these re-classifications, so the options at POR for next year are currently Standard, Water, Preferred or River. I assume the King Bed rooms will still be there on request, but not as a bookable option.

Andre

It depends on what week you pick; the week I picked, King Bed came up as an option and it was the same price as a preferred and water view.

If you pick a different week, like someone in another thread picked President Day's week and the king bed option did not show up - which tends to seem that those rooms are being blocked out for some reason, or they are already booked.

We'll be at POR Sept 12-17th. Is it too late to request a room bc our trip is already booked and paid for? Also, I could go ahead and try requesting a room but where?! We have 4 children, 9/6/2/1 yrs, and will have a stroller at all times. We'll also be haeding back daily for naps and a break for the big kids. Ideally being close to a bus stop would be awesome. I dont really plan on eating at the resort but instead plan on having small snack type things for breakfast or lunch, whichever meal we dont eat at the park. So, I'm not too worried about being close to the food court.

Really bus stop location would be my biggest concern.

Thoughts? Advice?
thanks!

You can add the request to your reservation at any time.

I spoke to a real nice CM today and he was not sure which bldg were preferred so he put me on hold to try to find out and came back and said they are not sure yet as it is so new(since Sunday). Guess we have to wait and see.I am very anxious to not be put way far a way but I hate to pay the extra so not sure what to do. Plus on the dates i want there is no preferred listed on the website, Jan 29-FEb 5 just standard and waterview.

The description on Disney's website states the preferred location is close to food court, bus stop, and resort amentities - which would mean the buildings closest to the main building.

I'm glad you ahd such a nice vacation!:goodvibes
I was originally thinking of requesting building 14 or something really close to the food court etc.. but I saw a picture of building 36 (AB) and I thought it might be nice to be out somewhere a little quieter. Now that you are saying the walk wasn't that bad I think I am coviced. I really don't mind a bit of a walk ( iwalk 3 miles a day for exercise now anyway).
Did you use the buses and if so how did you find those to be being on that end of the resort?:)

We had our own car, so we didnt use the buses.
But there was a bus stop right outside the parking lot of Building 35/36.

You wont mind the walk. It was very pretty and relaxing. No more than 5 minutes. Our building 35 was very quiet, and having the quiet pool and laundry facilities right there was nice too.

Keep those resort reports comin', folks! After an okay stay at CSR earlier this year, we're itchin' to head back to POR for our next WDW vaca. We missed it terribly.

We don't have an ETA just yet but I'm hoping for sooner rather than later.

I have to confess, I don't have time right now to go through all the pages of posts.
We are staying at POR in 5 days!!!!!
Does anyone know what kind of soda is at the food court? I like decaf diet coke or pepsi. Do they have it there?
Also what kids of cereal do they have?(is this the place that has a cereal bar??What is that?)
Or do they have cups? If they do-How much is a cup of cereal and a small milk. Is it a snack credit? (We are on the dining plan.)
Thanks in advance!!!!!
Can't wait to go!!!!!!

Just got back from our first trip to POR and I have to say we were so happy with the stay.
Our past trips have all been to WL, so I was worried about going from a deluxe to a moderate, but the POR was BEAUTIFUL!

Such wonderful landscaping and pools. We loved the food court and gift shop. It was a relaxing and quiet place.
We were Alligator Bayou building 35. A little walk to the main pool and food court, but no more than 5 minutes.
We had a quiet pool and laundry building right next to us, which was great. We loved jumping in the quiet pool after a long HOT day at the parks.
Cannot wait to stay there again!!

We are staying at POR for the first time in Oct and your post made me feel better about my choice. I have been stressing big time!

Its a beautiful resort. I think you'll love the pool, the pretty food court, and the boat to DTD!

It looks beautiful...I'm just nervous since it's our 15th anniversary and want something special without completely going overboard. We are doing our first split stay; 2 nts at AKL for complete relaxation...then 7 nts FD at POR. I'm not even sure which location to request. Any suggestions?

I am back at POR in 2 months and the days cannot go fast enough. My last 2 trips were CSR (I really did not like it here) and POP (I enjoyed myself here) but I absolutely love POR.
Stayed twice once in the mansion section and the other in AB in building 18. Both were great but I preferred AB only because the food court is right there and we had a quiet pool and the bus stop was right across the parking lot.
The buses have never been an issue for me, longest wait was 10 minutes.
My favorite thing is the boat to DTD, so relaxing.
So I am super excited to get back to POR and all you first timers I hope you all find it as magical I have.

Can you tell me about the food court? Are you expected to tip servers at the resort counter service food court. I heard at CSR they tip at the food court so I was curious how POR does it. Thanks! 30 days until I'm home!!!!

No tipping in the POR food court.
CSR is set up differently due to the fact it is a convention resort, and the food court is run by a non-Disney company.

I haven't seen decaf diet (or regular) soda at any food court, and I don't think I've even seen it at any TS.

Im am planning a WDW trip the first week in March 2011. Im traveling with my husband and daughter who will be three at time of travel. I've stayed in Aligator Bayou a long time ago. (I think I was nine). I cant decide what section is best for my family now. French or Riverside? And if Riverside, Aligator Bayou or the Magnolia section? Any suggestions which side is nicer or more conveniant? Were looking to emerge ourselves in disney,so were really looking for a hotel that will enhance our disney experience :)

They have the following drinks at the soda machine(while we were there in May)
Coke, Diet Coke, Vanilla Coke, Cherry Coke, Caffeine Free Diet Coke, Sprite, Barq's Root Beer, Orange Fanta, Minute Maid Lemonaid(light) and Hi-C Fruit Punch.
Hope that helps you out!!!

Did you find the buses crowded? I've read some bad things about the bus picking up at POFQ first and then working it's way around POR so I'm worried:confused:.
