I think it was too lush because that is all you could see at Alligator Bayou but hey that is what a Bayou is like right? I guess I like to walk out my door and see the resort that I am staying at instead of just trees and bushes. (we did have a river view) I did like the Mansion side better. That is what is so great about WDW, it has something for everyone's individual taste. Like I said DH liked it.

That's actually one of the things I love about POR, you've got the AB section for those who want the more isolated bayou feel, and then the mansion buildings give a more opulent, upmarket feel. Sounds like you really got the wrong section for you, though - sorry about your bad experience.

How are the rooms in Alligator Bayou numbered? What is there system for building #, floor, room? Since I will be beyond excited at arrival, I tend not to absorb what the CM is telling me.

Grin, you just glaze over, thinking "Woo hoo, I'm in Disney World!"

AB lodges have 64 rooms each, with the building number (14 to 39) providing the first two digits of the room number. Rooms are then numbered xx01 to xx32 on the ground floor and above them are xx33 to xx64 on the upper floor. Each lodge is laid out slightly differently in variations of four small square blocks, so it's not an easy thing to just say "room xx01 is on the north corner" or anything like that.

Don't get me wrong we had a wonderful time. I was just so happy to be there. I had requested AB. If it was the only place I could stay I would stay there again.

Here's the link to the POP Century Thread

As far a weather goes... I've never been in Feb. we are planning a trip for that time frame as well. According to PassPorters temperature can be variable usually from mid to high 70's and Average Rainfall is among the lowest of the year.

Wow, this thread has slipped down a ways! I'm leaving in NINE days for my second trip to POR. It's my DH's first and he likes that it's close to Epcot for his marathon.

We stayed in the mansion area in 2007 (my best friend and I)... and I really liked the resort. Neither of us found it big, like a lot of people say, but then again I was only 30 ;) but with arthritic knees.

I AM GETTING SO EXCITED! I really like the boat to DTD - it makes it so easy to get around!

We are booking 11-16th Dec 09 for our honeymoon. We are getting married at Sea Breeze Point the week before and then POR for 5 nights.

I thought about requesting the AB but after seeing pictures I think we'll try for the Mansions.

This thread is great - thank you for all the info. Oh, and if you see someone swanning around on the 9th in a wedding dress come and say hi!

:rotfl: TeeHee!! She said "poop century".:rotfl:

Anyhoo, we'll be at POR exactly 3 weeks from tomorrow and I am so geeked!!

Which rooms in Riverside have king size beds or at least which buildings. Thanks

Andre,

Thanks so much for the great info both here, and on your website. Our family stayed at VWL last summer for our first Disney vacation. There were seven of us for that trip.

Last month, we booked POP for Aug / Sept 2009, thinking that next summer it would just be DW & I with DS5, and DD14, BUT . . . DD14 has pretty well convinced me to take along her best friend. We're awaiting approval from BF's parents now. After doing some price searching, including the family suite at ASM, or two standard rooms at POP, I finally figured that POR might be the most economical choice, and give us the added amenities of a Mod over the Value.

So, I guess if BF's parents give us the go ahead, we'll be switching to POR for our late August / early Sept trip.

You're welcome Tom, glad my info has proven useful to you.

I think you're right, apart from the All-Star suites (which are dearer anyway) the best priced option for 5 people at WDW is POR. As long as your DD and her friend don't mind sharing a double bed, you DS will be fine on the trundle bed in the Alligator Bayou section. And with three females in the room, having two sinks for them to all get ready in the morning might be a big plus too... ;)

Late Aug/early Sept? See you there, then! :)

I am sure you are quite right about the sinks being a big bonus.

We are planning on arriving sometime in the afternoon on August 23, and staying until the morning of September 5th, and it would be great to say hello to a fellow DIS'er.

The boat captains are usually quite friendly and generally full of fun knowledge about the resort and the trip along the Sasscagoula River.

:goodvibes I just booked POR Sept 27 to October 3rd with the 40% off code! We have never stayed at anything but the values so I am really excited. :yay: :cheer2:

Thank you all for helping me make my decision on choosing this resort
