We are booked for POR in June. I have booked through a travel agent (we are in the UK). Would I be able to contact disney directly to request a room location or would I have to do it through my travel agent.

I am keen to know as I would prefer a room close to the food courts, etc as I have some mobility issues.
Thanks

Sooo sorry
I have been trying to get back to this for a week but had to travel out of state unexpectedly for work

We did the Pirate Bayou Adv on a Sunday two weeks ago for my 8 yr old DD

she was apprehensive at first thinking only boys would be going but alas!
she was one of several girls along with a family of pretty unruly brothers (sadly from my home state LOL)

they took off a few minutes late but please note that if it starts at 9:30 you may want to be at the booth by 9ish. It took a while to get them checked in and pay (the credit card you hold it with is not automatically charged and you need to sign a consent form). each child gets a pirate bandana and a name tag and the POR recreation staff was great (Thanks PAUL!!)

they load up on the boat (same one that takes guests to DTD) and begin singing etc.

they ate lunch (PB&J, goldfish crackers, juice etc) on the boat and stop off at several other resorts including the SSR. They make their way to DTD but do not de-boat there,( probably too busy/crowded) and head back. They were gone everybit of two hours and had a good time. Once they got back they headed to the lobby where they all got to pick a gift bag of pirate booty.

Two things- One- it was fun for her and a nice break for the husband and I to chill at the pool (bar doesn't open there until 11 so we mostly sunned!)

Two- its not fabulous by any means and I can imagine some will think its a rip off for the $30 for a cheap lunch and toys.

I think its all relative Now that we did it once, I wouldnt' do it again but it was a fun first experience and it was ok. I don't think it was the highlight of her trip- but a slower paced thing to do.

if you have questions let me know

L

Thank you for your review of the pirate cruise:thumbsup2 I have my DS10 and DS6 booked on this for Sunday 11/30 the morning we check into POR. I am a bit nervous about allowing them to go but hoping that the crew/staff will take great care of my children. I think that my boys will love it! pirate: Do you know if I can use my disney rewards card for payment for this? Also do they ever get off of the boat anytime during the 2 hours?:confused3 I have images in my head of the kids running around growling looking for gold!:lmao:

Should be OK, buses normally start an hour before park opening and there are extra buses laid on for character meals. Ask at the front desk beforehand, or ring 407-WDW-RIDE to speak the transportation folks direct.

Do allow yourself plenty of time though - or why not play safe and get a cab, it's only a short ride and compared to the overall cost of Disney, a cab would be a tiny fraction.

Andre

Thank you Andre for all your great info on POR:flower3: Can you tell me if I get our requested AB section, do I need to bring my own sheets for the trundle bed or will they already have sheets on this? Thanks

Do it through your travel agent. However if you can get the booking reference details out of them in advance (not always easy!) then you could also speak to Disney. They have a special needs department that you could contact if your mobility issues would be a major issue if you are not located close to the food court (I'd suggest asking for building 14).

Nope, Disney will provide sheets, pillows, etc. The bed may not have pillows on it when you arrive, but there are normally spares on the shelf in the washroom area. If not, just ask housekeeping for some extras.

yes you can use your rewards card- we used ours all over the park and the hotel with no issues what so ever. Very standard

they do exit the boat at two of the other resorts but trust me- the crew is very well versed and able to keep thigs under control! the group that went with my daughter was pretty wild and no one got lost, left behind or anything. They do NOT get off at DTD although it is one of the stops.
I am sure they will enjoy it.

SIX? Does she know the rooms are only 314 sq feet, they are not villas....

The "Alligator Bayou" section rooms at Riverside have two double beds, and also a pull-out 'trundle bed' which would sleep a child up to about age 10. If there is an infant (3 or under) they could also ask for a cot/crib bed to be put in the room, but it'd sure be snug! What ages are staying there?

Andre

2 adults a 2 year old and 4 year old tripplets! so with the crib and trundle they will be alright i guess but god is it going to be a tight fit!!

....i have directed them to your site for more info thanks!

Can anyone tell me if there are disposable cups in the room? Are they for tooth brushing or coffee?

Thanks!:)

My goodness, after the triplets you'd have thought they would have worked out what was causing it.... :rolleyes1

I hope they have a great time, it sounds like they're going to have their hands full all round! :) But I think POR is probably the best reasonably priced Disney option that can accomodate them all.

Are they planning on driving, as I think with four young kids of stroller age they might find using the buses a little challenging.

Hi all :wave2:

Wondering if anyone has more information about the campfire. A few pages back, I read something about smores, and now I'm intrigued. Did someone say chocolate and marshmallows? :worship:

Is it something that's done nightly? And during the winter months? We're visiting in January and would love to take part.

I am so excited to stay here for the first time!
Is there a picture of list of the provided toiletries (ie.. shampoo ect..)

Thanks so much! :thumbsup2

I don't have a photo, but I'm pretty sure that the toiletries are the same H2O products (shampoo/conditioner combo, bath soap, facial soap) that you get at Pop.

I've stayed at both Pop and POR. Pop is fun, but POR is so much more relaxing! I think you'll enjoy your POR stay!

Yup, same stuff, ask for more if you need it. You get a bit extra at some of the deluxes.

:cool1: :cheer2: :yay:

We just moved our ressie from the All Star Music to the Port Orleans Riverside. Mostly because the Disney Cruise bus picks up from there, and I did not want to bother with the hassle to trying to get there from the all star the morning of.

Dh and I stayed at the French Quarter (pre children :thumbsup2 ). And we loved it and have just now come full circle to stay in that area again after all this time.:thumbsup2

We will be there December 22 - 24th. We had to give up our rental car to upgrade our room but it was worth it.

That sounds like a good choice. I can't imagine the hassle of getting ready to go on the cruise then taking a bus to a park and reboarding another to a different resort only to have to reboard another bus to the cruise. What a headache! Probably easy trade off for the rental car. Last time I was at WDW I didn't even want to look at my car keys.
