What happened to imeem?
MySpace Music acquired certain assets of imeem, and will spend the next few weeks properly integrating aspects of the site within the MySpace Music community. Features and functionality that you loved at imeem will soon find their way onto MySpace, and compliment our existing platform alongside free full-song streaming, artist profiles, music videos, and much, much more.
What happened to my imeem playlist?
Rest assured, your playlist and user data are safe. MySpace Music will attempt to transition your playlists and associated information and notify you when it is ready. Please make sure to register as an official MySpace user with the email address you previously used at www.imeem.com. This is the only way to ensure we can properly link your information and notify you when the transition is complete. In the meantime, please feel free to create and share an unlimited number of new playlists from the largest licensed catalog of music available on the web.
Why doesn’t the imeem mobile app work anymore?
The imeem mobile app for iPhone and Android was created specifically for use on their network and unfortunately will be disabled momentarily. It will take us a little time to relaunch the app incorporating MySpace’s own music licenses and other features that we feel are valuable to users. When ready, this update will automatically push to your smartphone, giving you the option to upgrade. Thanks for your patience.
This made me hate myspace even more lol.
Myspace is dying lol.
According to insiders, imeem, which was already struggling to cover its music licensing fees in a weak advertising market, was brought to its knees by a lawsuit from independent music consortium The Orchard that accused imeem of playing TVT Records music without the proper licensing. The lawsuit asked for the maximum penalty of $150,000 per infringed song; imeem apparently thought it had a case, but lacked the funds to pursue it.
