the new Alice in Wonderland movie....

From what I've seen, I am under the impression that this movie is sort of a sequel. Alice is returning to Wonderland many years later. That's why she's a young adult in this film.

Yeah that's what it is. I was a little wary about the movie until I heard that. Now that I know they're not messing with the original I can go in not truly worrying about if they mess it up  And how some people said Johnny is taking the Mad Hatter in a different direction- since it's a sequel, time has changed the characters. It will be interesting to see how he decides time has changed Hatter. (wow... I went all Acting major on you guys... sorry lol :goodvibes)

:sad2: oh well, glad to know ahead of time not to be seeing anything special! I can't wait to see the movie though! :thumbsup2

We were lucky to be in WDW for the openings of "UP" and "Princess and the Frog" - didn't see anything special going on for the premieres except it was exciting to see Princess Tiana & the Showboat Jubilee at the MK. It's fun to go to DTD to see Disney movies even if there's no added "hoopla" it's still cool to be there. :goodvibes

I agree. From some of the pictures and such, it seems a little dark and twisted to me.

The book itself is super dark and twisted (as are most of the Disney-fied fairy tales) so I'm looking forward to a more classic re-telling of the book, not the Disney movie.

We were in MK the day WALL-E was released in theaters. There was nothing going on. In HS we just took a pic with a cardboard cut-out in the Magic of Disney Animation building. We're going to be lucky enough to be at the parks when Toy Story 3 comes out but this time I'm not going to expect anything special.

It's supposed to be a sequel to "Alice In Wonderland" and "Through The Looking Glass", so I wouldn't expect a lot of the plot lines from the original novels to be displayed...it should be like the "follow up". My thirteen year old sister CAN NOT WAIT to see this movie. She was a girl version of the Mad Hatter for Halloween, even. It looks very typical Burton to me, which I've sort of grown out of, but I'm sure it will be entertaining!

As others have said, typically a pre-parade or meet & greet is what a new animated movie gets when it is first released. The exception recently is The Princess and the Frog, which got a meet & greet, the Showboat Jubilee, and a welcome ceremony.

Apparently at the D23 Expo in September, Disney had meet & greets with characters from the upcoming version of Alice in Wonderland. If they would take the time to have the characters there, I would think that they would put the characters in the parks . . . maybe(?). That's just what I would conclude (very indefinitely). I'm not sure how that would work out with the versions of the characters that are already at WDW from the animated version, though. Hmmm.

But there's still time if they were to do something, though. The characters from Up came to Hollywood Studios two weeks before the movie's release, and there's still a month left until Alice's release.

And as for Toy Story 3, I would expect a meet & greet with one/some of the new characters . . . perhaps.

Love Johnny, I mean who doesn't he's Johnny but I'm not the least bit interested in seeing this movie. I don't much care for Tim Burton movies, they kinda creep me out. I think I'd much rather remember Alice in Wonderland thru the imagination of Walt Disney.

Please don't flame me.

T.

I don't really care to see this movie, either. The characters are....a little scary looking. Give me Johnny as Capt. Jack any day!
