The Never Ending Cruise - 2/6 Magic 8 night Cruise

Finally found my card with pictures of what I made for the FE. Not as professional with my scrapbooking skills as some of the others but I still had tons of fun!

I did crayon roll ups for the kids.

Pool for the little girls.

Tink for the older ones.

102_8854.jpg

Nemo for younger boys.

102_8855.jpg

I also did Nemo for my son's Kindergarten class last year and kind of tired of looking at all those crayon roll ups with fish on them!

And then cars for the older boys. Thank goodness we only had 4 older and I think they ranged in age from 7-9. I am sure some weren't thrilled with crayons but decided to just go ahead and do all the kids.

I then made a little notebook with just blank paper for drawing.

102_8856.jpg

and added in 4 DCL coloring pages shrunk to 1/4 of a page. No pictures of them.

For the adults, I made little notebooks.

and bookmarks. I did learn to not try and punch a hole through after laminating. It was thick and nothing was punching a hole even though I kept trying!

Then I had other store bought goodies to throw in also with everything.

I must interrupt this trip report to say, "We are going to Disneyland"!

Hotel booked!
Car rental booked!
Plane tickets booked!

Thank you Lorealle and Hojo for having such deals so early out and forcing me to plan a trip that I had no intention of taking this year! AND hopefully, Dallas might have a friend or few join him! He'll be much happier with his instant friends.

In honor of our trip here are a few pictures. Use your imagination and pretend I remembered to take pictures in front of ALL the letters!

Okay, just one more! I just LOVE Disneyland! I feel like it is a whole new world for us! I think it is my favorite place on earth, which I guess makes it the Happiest Place on Earth!

Back to the cruise soon.

Since you mentioned Dallas' pillowcase - I've been meaning to ask you - did you use Sharpies or fabric markers? One color or several?
I need to get those this week and need to be prepared!

Sharpies - 1 color

It made sense to only do black for his though. I'll doubt we'll actually use it though so it won't get washed often. I assume a black sharpie on white isn't going to wash off very easily though.

Monday, February 8th

Today was a sea day and also our character breakfast day. Dallas isn't big on characters any more (he used to LOVE them) but I wanted to go so my family humors me, sometimes. They have changed the name to Mickey's Island Jam. I suddenly can't remember what they used to call it now!

IMG_1612.jpg

Dallas was bored before it even started.

IMG_1614.jpg

Please note, there is nothing boring about this breakfast. He is just over the characters. I guess too much indulgence while little has worn him out.

IMG_1615.jpg

Lin was deciding what he would eat. Breakfast had become my favorite meal of the trip, but ordering it off the menu vs the buffet wasn't nearly as fun. I really love the buffet!

IMG_1618.jpg

I need to shout out now to Carla C and her so easy patterns!!! I just love them! ALL of them! I decided the morning we were leaving that I didn't really have any clothes that well, looked good we'll call it. I wanted a nice COMFY pair of capri's so decided to pull out my easy fit pattern for adults! I whipped these up within a few minutes! Now, I had intended on them being about 5 inches longer but not sure what I was doing (besides listening to the tv instead of paying attention) so they were a bit short that I had planned but still loved them!!

All the characters were gathered in the hallway and Lin was snapping a few pictures. We were the first table right inside the door.

IMG_1619.jpg

IMG_1620.jpg

They then came running in.

IMG_1621.jpg

Hence the bad blurry picture! Mickey came to us first!

IMG_1622.jpg

Now, I have a little to say about this breakfast but I'll get to that shortly. I'll post my pictures first although they don't really tell the whole story.

The atmosphere is really fun and the asst server, Rey, made us all hats. Dallas' was Peter Pan and again he was less then impressed. He has never liked this part of the cruise for some reason.

IMG_1627.jpg

He even made it smaller when it appeared to be a little big.

IMG_1628.jpg

I was Jasmine. Not a great picture, but oh well.

IMG_1635.jpg

Oh look! Here comes Goofy!

IMG_1636.jpg

We all know the Goofy character meal issue! He is just too darn big to get in the picture!

And Chip (or is it Dale?).

IMG_1639.jpg

IMG_1641.jpg

Then Lin got some dreadlocks.

IMG_1642.jpg

And Dallas posed for a picture with Grace our head server.

IMG_1645.jpg

Grace and Rey were really great! By far our best servers ever on a cruise.

And then came Minnie.

IMG_1646.jpg

Giving Dallas a BIG kiss!

IMG_1647.jpg

And Pluto.

IMG_1655-1.jpg

IMG_1656-1.jpg

And Dale. Right?

IMG_1658-1.jpg

IMG_1659-1.jpg

Now, as you can see I don't feel as if I got a good picture of Dale really and I do not care for the way the characters whip through the place. They literally were not at our table longer then 10-15 seconds. You had better have had your camera up and ready to go or the picture was a no go! And don't even plan on taking another decent one. I was clicking as fast as I could click and I must say I think I have a pretty darn nice camera.

I do not like character meals because I always feel rushed. Usually it is a rush to get your food, rush to eat and wipe your hands so you are ready for the picture, etc. This one is just RUSHED! And Disney needs to change this! They did sign autographs (we did not have a book) but they did not allow the kids to hand them the book, the handler had all the books, had them all open and held them up for the characters to then grab all in a row. No interaction what so ever and really just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Honestly, skip it if you can't do it right! I would have then enjoyed my breakfast a ton more and not been annoyed! And my kid doesn't even like them! What IF he really wanted to give one a hug or something! No chance! NO getting out of your seats! Just rush, rush, rush!!!

Continued in next post!

Aww, thanks Wendy! These are some of my favorite shirts! They have been to WDW 2x now, in fact I had it on at the start of the February dismeet and did a changing act while walking! I think I'll probably take them to Disneyland and then retire them. I love how well Dallas' shoes match too!

Enjoying your TR. Love all the pictures. Boy what amazing FE gifts you give. I want to be on the same sailing as you next time.;) Looking forward to reading all about day 8. Lucky you going to DLR! I can't wait to see their new water show in CA.

I bet Tim would love a hand me down!!! lol!!!

Oh, and word is that John has worn your Jedi Mickey every day since Saturday - they have to peel it off him before bed to was it!!!!:rotfl:

Thank you for the compliment! I really wanted something cool for the FE gifts but I couldn't quite figure out what! I had seen so many neat things on the homemade fe thread.

I figured I better hurry up and get to day 8 or by the time I get there I'll just think it was like any other day!

I hope DLR isn't too torn up when we are there. Nothing worse then a torn up world or land! I had bought airfare about 4 years ago during the 50th anniversary and then found out the castle would be all covered with tarps. I couldn't stand the thought of seeing it for the first time like that (we had never been before) so I canceled the trip and ate a little $ in airfare to change the dates and place.

I bet Tim would love a hand me down!!! lol!!!

Hmmm, how about a NEW one for Tim! What size is he? I keep going back and forth about whether or not I'll keep all of Dallas' shirts and make them into a quilt. I started to send Sawyer a couple of outfits but couldn't bare to take them out of Dallas' closet. That is when I came up with the quilt idea. I am so sad I sold his JoJo outfit!! and his first Mickey overalls. I got a ton of $$ for them but now I wish I had them.

That is too funny about John! I hope he loves the shirt! I was hoping to make some for Noah's family that is traveling soon but don't think I'll make it! I think I might send them some later on though, they are big star wars/lego nuts so I could even go with just a star wars lego. I wish there more hours in a day (or less friendly people on the computer I love to chat with).

Checking out your TR and loving it! :thumbsup2 I've never been on a cruise, much less a disney one, so this is cool! Can't wait to hear more!!

Jessica - that is a WONDERFUL idea to make a quilt out of your special clothing that you have made!!! Has Dallas ever gone through a Mario phase? Tim is so stinkin stuck in that right now!!! I pray he always loves the characters though, his big brothers do and they are 20 and 16!!!:rotfl:

Great update! I love that they humored you with the character meal. I am actually shocked my kids still love them!

Sorry the breakfast was rushed and hectic...that stinks...I love Dallas' "I am NOT in the mood for this breakfast" face....lol!

4 pages back???? uggghhh!!! Ok subbing so I can go back to read

OK I still don't understand the fish extender thing. Do you put presents in them? How fun is that????

That is some fabulous looking $100 haircut you got there blowing in the wind LOL!

When are you going to DL (your ticker is cut off on my work computer :ssst:)

Looks like you are really getting the hang of your new toy. You got some beautiful shots of Dallas

Mmmmm you are making me kinda want to make a pair of easy fits for myself.

Sorry to hear about the less than stellar character meal. You got some good pics, though and I thought your son's "bored" pictures were hilarious. My youngest daughter makes similar expressions.
