Today was a sea day and also our character breakfast day. Dallas isn't big on characters any more (he used to LOVE them) but I wanted to go so my family humors me, sometimes. They have changed the name to Mickey's Island Jam. I suddenly can't remember what they used to call it now!
Dallas was bored before it even started.
Please note, there is nothing boring about this breakfast. He is just over the characters. I guess too much indulgence while little has worn him out.
Lin was deciding what he would eat. Breakfast had become my favorite meal of the trip, but ordering it off the menu vs the buffet wasn't nearly as fun. I really love the buffet!
I need to shout out now to Carla C and her so easy patterns!!! I just love them! ALL of them! I decided the morning we were leaving that I didn't really have any clothes that well, looked good we'll call it. I wanted a nice COMFY pair of capri's so decided to pull out my easy fit pattern for adults! I whipped these up within a few minutes! Now, I had intended on them being about 5 inches longer but not sure what I was doing (besides listening to the tv instead of paying attention) so they were a bit short that I had planned but still loved them!!
All the characters were gathered in the hallway and Lin was snapping a few pictures. We were the first table right inside the door.
They then came running in.
Hence the bad blurry picture! Mickey came to us first!
Now, I have a little to say about this breakfast but I'll get to that shortly. I'll post my pictures first although they don't really tell the whole story.
The atmosphere is really fun and the asst server, Rey, made us all hats. Dallas' was Peter Pan and again he was less then impressed. He has never liked this part of the cruise for some reason.
He even made it smaller when it appeared to be a little big.
I was Jasmine. Not a great picture, but oh well.
Oh look! Here comes Goofy!
We all know the Goofy character meal issue! He is just too darn big to get in the picture!
And Chip (or is it Dale?).
Then Lin got some dreadlocks.
And Dallas posed for a picture with Grace our head server.
Grace and Rey were really great! By far our best servers ever on a cruise.
And then came Minnie.
Giving Dallas a BIG kiss!
And Pluto.
And Dale. Right?
Now, as you can see I don't feel as if I got a good picture of Dale really and I do not care for the way the characters whip through the place. They literally were not at our table longer then 10-15 seconds. You had better have had your camera up and ready to go or the picture was a no go! And don't even plan on taking another decent one. I was clicking as fast as I could click and I must say I think I have a pretty darn nice camera.
I do not like character meals because I always feel rushed. Usually it is a rush to get your food, rush to eat and wipe your hands so you are ready for the picture, etc. This one is just RUSHED! And Disney needs to change this! They did sign autographs (we did not have a book) but they did not allow the kids to hand them the book, the handler had all the books, had them all open and held them up for the characters to then grab all in a row. No interaction what so ever and really just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Honestly, skip it if you can't do it right! I would have then enjoyed my breakfast a ton more and not been annoyed! And my kid doesn't even like them! What IF he really wanted to give one a hug or something! No chance! NO getting out of your seats! Just rush, rush, rush!!!
Continued in next post!
