The negative threads on here have me almost changing my mind.

We were disappointed last trip. I was thinking next time might be different with DD.

But to be honest with character cutbacks and no streetmosphere or shows I'm wondering what we can do other than a few rides.

Starting to think a beach/pool holiday and a trip to Center Parcs is a better use of our money while we wait for WDW.

Having just got back last night, I am thoroughly disappointed, if not angry, with the negative feedback that I've been reading on here!!! Just before Johnny proposed, I was looking over Fantasyland and felt quite emotional about how some individuals have knocked our beautiful park!
I saw NOTHING of the negativity mentioned, there were characters out, the park was clean and shiny and crowd levels were managable. The brass band were playing, CM's were polite and happy, there was Pirate band playing by POTC and even the food was fab!!!

I say DO NOT listen to the dreadful knocking posts, it seems that recently a small group have their hearts set on negativity and you will always get a select few. We went as two adults, and both of us know the park like the back of our hands and we also have a very vast knowledge of the park from opening. (Johnny's) Dad was involved with the construction and he still loves it. He, if anyone, would be the most qualified in my eyes. What really narks me is that Johnny is also a "local" and Dream pass holder - and not for the first time either. We can both just sit for hours people watching on Main Street and I can't wait to be back in three weeks!!!

Literally had the best four days of my life! Go with the right mind set and will the right people, sn Disneyland Paris will still have that wow factor :)

I couldn't agree more with the above posts. Disney is what you make it. If you go looking for the negatives such as flaking paint and maintenance issues you will find them but if you submerse yourself into all things Disney you will not even see them and if you do they will not affect your stay.
Congratulations Torsie on the birth of your little girl, I had my baby boy 7 weeks ago and like you have been to DLP many times before but I can't wait for our first trip with our son, to see his reactions to everything, nothing will be able to overshadow his reactions and our special memories.

I can honestly see where you are coming from. When we went last September I had decided we would never return. The service we received at Davy Crocket was awful, The character meals were all really rushed, quiet a few rides were down for refurbishment or down with problems. But then we returned for Christmas it was so magical. Like others have said its what you make of it.

I really want to go back to DLP but not sure it will be the same having taken Elsie to WDW now. I love DLP having grown up going but Dave doesn't care for it and like you mentioned he would rather save the money to go to WDW.

I am sure you would have a lovely time if you went but I personally would save the £1k towards WDW 2 week holiday or a few nights in DLP it's a no brainier to me x

i can see both sides of it. obviously ashleigh and i really love it at dlp. our trip last october was amazing and it really is our favorite time to visit. our last trip had a few ups and downs. my biggest problem was mostly with guest behaviour and at this stage really feeling like dlp don't care enough to do anything about it as some cms seem to able to control a crowd and others just don't bother to try. in the dlh a woman shoved ash out of the way to get to her kids who had pushed through everyone else to the front and i lost it. this woman was pushing and shoving people out of the way and the cm stood there looking on. i had to physically remove her hand from my child and that isn't acceptable.

the lack of shows is another big letdown for me. they wouldn't even have to put on anything as big as tarzan but small happenings around the park make a huge difference i think.

in saying that as always we really enjoyed ourselves and i have booked for december to celebrate ashleighs birthday.

Only you can decide ..... but I wouldn't let yourself be swayed by negative comments. For example, I'm following two different cruise trip reports at present - reading the two you would never believe the posters had been on exactly the same cruise and on the same dates too.

I recently remarked that I'd noticed the lack of characters round the park on our last two trips (not that it really bothered me, it was more of an observation) but others have since posted that they've met plenty on their recent trips which shows just how people's take on things can differ. So maybe there were lots of characters on my trips and I was just in the wrong place but I've never come home disappointed from DLP, yes there have been niggles and minor issues, but nothing that's ever diminished our enjoyment of our holiday or of DLP itself.

It seems so much easier to take a baby to DLP rather than WDW, so much more civilised on the Eurostar than long haul flights, and from what a friend tells me Center Parcs is a nightmare with babies (her take on it, not mine!)

I had my baby boy 7 weeks ago
Congratulations!

oh disneyland paris is shocking. no themeing, no atmosphere, hellish expensive and full of foreigners.

save your money and visit Pontins instead. (or butlins if your posh)

I agree it's definitely what you make it., and if you go with a negative attitude looking for faults I'm sure you'll find them.

We love DLP and have no intention of giving up our small escapes from reality. Our last few visits we've seen loads of characters out, more than we've ever seen. I think because they're not organised a lot of people miss them, but they are there.
We've never encountered a rude CM. Yes some guests are rude in fact very rude sometimes but it's not exclusive to DLP you experience that everywhere.

It's like a lot of things you need to make your own mind up (we very nearly changed our hotel last year in Tenerife before we left due to the negative reviews - glad we didn't turned out to be the best holiday ever and fantastic hotel!!).

And for the record we've been to Pontins once and that was the first and last time! :)

there are things that cannot be denied.
You might have had the best experience, the best days of your life, but it will not change the fact that there was no stage show in 2013, that characters have been reduced (even if you met some), and I could go on, but there is no need, it's all in the "negative threads" already, even down to the poor maintenance, which cause yet another accident 2 weeks ago (one more)

DLP is still a magical place,if you go there with the right state of mind, and if you accept to overlook a few things.
People should not refrain from going to DLP. The "negative threads" are not meant to get people to reconsider their DLP trip, but to "open their eyes".
And once their eyes are open, they can start to tell DLP that they want things changed.

I'm a Dream AP holder, I'm in the park often, I still enjoy my stays, but I keep an open mind, and if I enjoy my trip to the park, once I'm home I try to be really honest about what things really were. I'm not saying that you're not honest, I'm saying that I try to go beyond the wall of pixie dust, beyond the magic.

Writing negative topics has one purpose, and this purpose is not to be negative. This purpose is to alert people about a few things, it's also to keep pressure on the park's management (these posts are made in conjunction with City Hall complaints and various lobbying)

you don't think that it's worth it, or that it's useful ? ... you had brass bands, pirates near POTC, some characters were out ... well consider yourself lucky ... because you got way more than some guests got a few weeks back, so it means that all of this lobbying is useful after all, and maybe some of those you're angry at, are responsible for that wonderful experience of yours, because they told DLP's management what had to be told (through forums or guest relations)

you may be a bit angry at those who just "write" on social networks. Well, some of us are disappointed and angry at other guests who are way too optimistic and who are willing to accept any cut in entertainment and give a free pass to DLP's magagement for whatever they do.
Why would they change things if everybody's satisfied ... well not everybody's satisfied and they have equal rights to say so.
A forum is not designed solely for members to say "oh I had such an amazing time", but some members have a right to say that they were not satisfied, especially when they back this with proof and fact.
This does not disprove YOUR personnal experience, but all the same your personal experience does not disprove other people's experiences.

Thanks everyone. I can see all of your points of view.

I know any holiday is what you make of it. And believe me last trip I went super excited but came away disappointed. We had fun, but no magic. The highlight of my trip was riding BTM 3 times in a row in the dark - great fun but to me a ride shouldn't be the highlight of a Disney stay.

I think we've come to love (what we consider) "real" (American) Disney.

It gets said on here a lot (mainly by people who have only ever been to DLRP) that the American parks are too in your face and false happy, but we don't feel that. We genuinely love the warm greeting in every shop we enter and every bus or boat we ride. And that's what makes it Disney to us. Talking to the Mayor and watching the Main Street Trolley show.

I think my mind is made up. Unless some crazy DLH offer comes out its Center Parcs and the Canaries for us.

If you post personal stuff towards me then please do via PM.
I always have experiences like this, sure I notice stuff, and I choose also to be a frequent visitor. I'm of the opinion if all you're going to do is pick up the negatives then stay away for a while and go back with a fresh view. I also hope hold a premium Merlin Pass but this year will not be renewing for the simple I've lost my love of Thorpe Park and Legoland (the latter has majorly disappointed me this year so it's time to give it miss for a while to "heal"). I think NOT going makes more of a voice then whinging about it!
Times change. People change. If you don't move with it, then its time to move on.
I love my park and will still be saying that in another 20 years when I am 60 and taking my Grandkids. Nan's in her 80's and some of her happiest memories are there. She doesn't understand the negativity either.......

Is this directed at me?? I didn't post a thing personal?!?

Throwing in a random two penneth, personally I don't think Center Parcs is bad for babies at all. My DD went to CP at 9 months and loved it :)

Please remember folks - everyone is entitled to their opinion, and to voice their opinion. One person's perspective will be different to another's, and thats the way it should be - the world would be a very boring place if we all thought the same thing :).

Thanks Elaine.

I hope I didn't make anyone think their opinion was wrong.

I'm jealous of people who don't find disappointment in DLRP. I certainly don't go looking for it.

I think I will be best leaving a long gap between stays like Lisa said.

This is turning into another what do you love about WDW and hate about DLRP.
For me to DLRP Paris will always be my fav place to take my kids (I have 5 ).
You can get there cheaply unlike WDW and with the right offer time of year etc you can stay on site cheaply to.
We have been to DLRP 9 times and not all of the visits have been magic but we still keep retuning because the kids want to meet mickey and friends does it matter what country that's in for them.
We went to WDW this feb while we loved it I didn't fall in love with it unlike some people do.I much prefer The disneyland park to the magic kingdom.
We will return to WDW when finically we can, but I still want the kids to have some disney magic so next year it will be DLRP again for us:).
Also DLRP is for a few days WDW is a holiday destination.
What ever you choice your baby will have a fab time am sure :cloud9:
