I hope to still come back to Chefs next summer, too. I really enjoy working there. It's the perfect job for summer break and I love the people. Lil Sis has already mentioned working for Disney next summer because she'll be 18 so it would be easier for her to get a job. She was a lifeguard at a waterpark this summer and she ended up not so much loving it, so she's definitely considering Disney next summer! If the 3 of us we're all here we would have SOOO much fun!!!
p.s. we're on a regular schedule.

Tomorrow is my last night at Chef Mickey's. I could cry. No, really. There are a couple of people down here I am really going to miss. My mom, aunt, sister, and cousin also arrive tomorrow. They are here to do the Disney thing, but also to tour colleges since both my sister and cousin will be seniors next year. After the college tours, we're going to the beach for a few days before we drive home. SO, I might be sparse around here over the next few days.

So, guys, this is me giving up...I'm fed up with everything. I'm sick of adults playing games and acting like they're still in high school; I'm sick of the rudeness in general where I live, and I'm sick of how there's nothing to do here unless you're a Patriots or Red Sox fan. So I give up; I don't fit in and I never will.

There's my rant for the day. I'm not leaving the DIS, I just may not post as much. I'll be checking PMs, though.

Okay, I'm going to post the goings-on at work. Everything I found out yesterday.

I think most of you know what happened in my life in 2007. I got a divorce, my grandmother was sick until she died in July, I had pneumonia for 4 months, my mother needed surgery, and then I moved home (which wasn't an easy decision to make). So I got kind of quiet at work, because I didn't think it was proper to invite my coworkers into my personal business.

That was a mistake. My being quiet - not rude, simply quiet and just not very talkative - made tongues wag. Someone made the decision that I was "mean" and started telling people to stay away from me. Every new person was told not to bother speaking to me because I'd probably rip their head off.

I found all this out yesterday from someone who did give me a chance, and she said she doesn't understand it, because even during my quiet times, I've never said or done anything mean to anyone. I may not be all happy and smiley, but I'm always polite. And she's never heard me gossip about my coworkers.

I'm at a loss. I have a very good idea who did it, because my crush did show some interest at one time. Then one day I saw him sitting at this person's desk, and they were whispering, and it was like a door slammed. That's when he started avoiding me.

I'm extremely hurt by this, I have to say. But I have my fingers crossed...a close coworker emailed me later to say "EVERYONE is asking about you they say you seem happy and very friendly lately." Good...I hope it gets around, especially to a certain someone. But I'm still hurt by the gossip. So now I might get quiet again...

Well, Liz, things are looking up.

Imagine what's going through the minds of your more curious coworkers now that they've discovered you're not that nasty person they've been warned against! Just rewards to whomever began that business. How easy is it to take a person's word when they've been gossiping & making up stories, especially in the workplace? Would make me wonder if the culprit has an axe to grind!

Jean...you're a sweetheart Seriously. You have no idea how much kind words mean to me, especially right now.

I'm putting on my mask today, but I have to admit, inwardly, I'm seething. I cannot believe someone would say this about me. These people have no idea...when I was hired, I was married to an abuser. I can't help but think that they would be "mean," too, if they were regularly being slapped/pushed through walls/having keys thrown at them, among other things. But like most abused spouses, I kept it to myself. Of course, I'm not going to air it now, because then the gossip will start "Oh, now she wants sympathy..." Which I don't, but I just wish they'd understand.

I actually cried this morning before I left the house. And now whenever I hear people whispering to each other, I'm paranoid that it's about me. I'm also thinking that maybe I really should forget about Chris and just move away, start completely over where nobody knows me.

Yep, put on that happy mask & operate from a place of revenge if you have to go about it that way! It'll just make the rumor mongers look like excrement! Every outgoing gesture, every smile, every bit of cheer in the face of garbage just deep sixes the gossip mill all the more! Your good humor simply isolates the instigator with each gesture & happy greeting.

I also think that if they are whispering about you it may be more positive than you think possible. There's a chink in the wall, now.

I say this from experience as during my parents seperation (then divorce) it took my Mom, DSis & I about 3 years to see the badmouthing come back to bite Dad in the rear. It took longer for us to live down his venom as far as his family was concerened, but they were ALL on board in the end. It is tough but you can turn it around. We never threw it in Dad's face, but the fact that we didn't, & he knew it, was 'special', too.

Okay, well, I heard some whispering earlier, and it wasn't about me...it was about the boss's wife, the woman up in accounting who gives me (and apparently, everyone else) a hard time.

Everyone here today seems to be awfully quiet. Must be the Monday funk. Of course, I don't think that means that everyone is "mean"...

I caught Chris 5x today, looking in my direction. Even once across the parking lot, on his way out to lunch. Just freaking TALK TO ME!!! Oh, and he has a new truck now...with a new tag #...something else to memorize, I guess.

All being said by people who don't even speak to me. I am NONE of these things. Would anyone really blame me for becoming a misanthrope at this point?
