The Myth that is LeCellier

I also don't get it. I've been to LC twice. The first time was for dinner. We waited a looooong time, even with ADR's, It was noisy, hurried, and I thought the food was average at best. The second time was for lunch. It was quieter and the service was very congenial, but the food - again average. We much prefer the Yachtsman for a steak dinner. I don't eat steak often, and when I do I like to take my time and savor my meat. LC just seems too busy and noisy to do that.

Everyone needs to realize that the DP's have ruined the dining experience at WDW! What many people rave about today (because they don't know any better) is so far from what the dining experience used to be that he might just as well be going to McDonald's (Oh wait, Disney is also running them off). The quality has gone down and the prices have gone up (as hhs Disney's profits from food) and the main driving force for all of this is the DP. By doing this Disney makes people who buy DP's think they're really getting a deal when in reality they are not.

I wish to the people who say that dining in WDW is a good experience today had been there when it really was.

You are right..we typically would not order an appetizer and a dessert..(my salad was my entree) for lunch. We were planning on this meal being an early dinner, esp. since we were not seated until 3:20 for our 2:55 ADR (Weird ADR time, yes I know- that's what popped up on the online system when I booked)

So realistically, $95 for a meal that was considered our dinner was ok.

I am/was not familiar with the TIW card..maybe that is something that I will look into for our next trip.

But overall...Le Cellier was not impressive for my family's taste.
I'm glad that we tried it, but will choose other restaurants for future visits.

TIW is a 20% discount program for many TS restaurants (including dinner shows & lounges) and a few CS places. You must have an Annual Pass and it costs $75.00/year, or be a Florida resident and it costs $100.00 per year. You get the 20% discount on all food and beverages, and an 18% gratuity is automatically added to your bill. The card is good for about 13 months, and can be picked up at any Guest Relations office outside or inside the parks.

I am one of "THOSE" people that love the dining plan. But in fairness we had never eaten at the parks before, until we started doing the dining plan. DH would never pay the prices, but with the DP I don't have to worry that DH will be when we get the bill.

As I stated above we were disappointed with LC, but that can happen at any resturant. And infact friends of ours ate at the Yachtsman this week and were also quite disappointed with their meals. Their steaks came out almost raw.

I have a reservation for Le Cellier in September. It's lunch and I did not make it at 180 days or 180 plus anything, and I'm not on the dining plan. I made it online in the evening not too long ago and it was not difficult to make. All I want is the mussels, spicy chicken sausage and some beer (not a steak eater, but I did like the mussels). No way I'm going to get up at six AM at 180 plus and get online to get a reservation here, but if I don't have to do that, yeah I'll take a reservation there.

Not that it eans anything but any ressie is September is easy to get...its the slowest time of year...Now if free dining comes out that may change

I got a reservation for Le Cellier for both lunch and dinner (cancelled dinner) for July. Made the reservation in March, and there was lots of availability for the 2 weeks we are there. For what it's worth, I also got CRT and Chef Mickey's. I found lots of availability for July for many busy restaurants.

I agree that Le Cellier is overrated. The food is good, but its not that great. I dont care for the atmosphere much at all.

I didn't read all the pages of this thread so there might have been someone who already said this, but one thing I find perplexing about the popularity of Le Cellier, is that MOST (maybe nearly all) 1 credit TS restaurants on the disney dining plan have at least one steak on the menu. In fact, the people I have traveled with have always preferred the steak at Coral Reef of all places to that of Le Cellier. I would rather go somewhere with much better ambiance, and more variety on the menu, knowing the meat and potatoes guys in my crowd will still be satisfied!

I like the steak at Coral Reef better than Le'Cellier as well. I also prefer the steak better at WCC and the Captains Grill better; all of which are 1Ts.

We like it, I don't think it has the best steak, but no where on property did. They do have the best mussels, I had them at Artist Point, Jiko, Narcoosees, Citricos and probably a few others and Le Cellier had the best mussels of them all. Their chocolate cake was also the best on property too. We were there last week.

We've never been, but we made an ADR for our upcoming trip in September. I have to admit, all the hype on this board twisted my arm a bit. Otherwise, I might have skipped over it, thinking that the fare would be similar to what I could get here at home.

Well we finally ate there for the first time on Sun 4-18 and I was quite disappointed with my meal.

I ordered the Prime Rib, and I was warned by our great server that it can be quite fatty. But I thought she meant around the outside of the meat like it is suppose to be. Well, the piece I received looked like the meat that John Candy needed finish in order to win in the movie The Great Outdoors

Like many LeCellier devotees, I will have to say that yes, odd as it may seem to some, we like the food. Quite a lot, really.

But what keeps us coming back to this restaurant is the service. Maybe we've been consistently lucky, but we have always found the most efficient, friendly, accomodating, and kind servers in WDW at LeCellier.

Plus, after walking in the sauna that is EPCOT all day, I actually don't mind at all being in a dark cellar.

Perhaps, but it should still be cooked to order.

FWIW, I ordered a medium steak (which shouldn't offend) and got bloody rare - it was dark red/almost purple.

I don't get the Le Cellier hype either.

After our trip last week, I have decided that just about all WDW restaurants are totally overrated.

We ate at the Yacht Club's Captain Grille last week for dinner and for what you get, for those prices, totally not worth it. A main complaint was the Chocolate Profiterole - no like any other I have had and not even fresh tasting. (The one at Chefs de France is excellent, though.)

At the Beach Club's Cape May Cafe, the food was "ok" but again not worth the hype. And every dessert there was bad. Just our opinion, of course. But, I don't get some of the raves.

I loved LeCellier when we went a couple of years ago--and yes, like some of the PP said, it's one of the better 1 credit places.

If you don't like it or think it's just average--don't go. Easy as pie!

About Beaches and Cream--I've never been, be man, that No Way Jose looks amazing!

Also, sometimes I think people get a case of sour grapes, because they couldn't get the reservation.

I'm a fan of Le Cellier and think it's great that it's only 1 TS credit. We've always had great service and I like the atmosphere in there..just the thing when you're hot, tired and hungry.

This has nothing to do with anything - I always get my steak well done at Disney.

My dad's a chef, and I constantly remind him that I'm the one eating the food and not him. If a chef pitches a fit because they don't want to cook the food a certain way, then perhaps they should find another line of work.

I don't care about the chef's feelings. I can only eat steak that is cooked well done - or not at all.
