The Muppets aren't the only ones being Frozen out.

Is anyone else losing their mind that they are basically replacing Muppetvision 3D with a Frozen show at Disneyland? From the articles I've read, although the Frozen Fun show is touted as limited time (which is the same thing they said about the WDW Frozen show at first), there are no plans to bring back Muppetvision.

Are even more iconic characters falling victim to the Ana and Elsa craze? How does this play out in the long haul? What happens when Frozen begins to thaw?

I am outraged that they would replace Muppets with yet another Frozen thing. Sure, the Muppet franchise isn't the money sucking juggernaut Frozen is, but they are a fan favorite for a lot of people. Doesn't that matter? What's happening to Disney's priorities?

If they want to capitalize on Frozen-mania, can't they do it without stepping all over beloved characters and compromising so much of the vision Walt had for his parks? (Let's not forget Aurora's float, the fact Mickey and Minnie are now walking in the Christmas parade, how Cinderella lost control of her own castle show, and don't even get me started on how the fictional Arendelle managed to slither into Norway Pavilion...and that's just a few things.)

This is getting out of control. It needs to stop. Now. They can satisfy the Frozen fans without spitting in the faces of everyone who isn't a fan of the franchise. When they axed the Muppets, they went too far for me. How long before they're gone from WDW, too? Probably not long considering the upheaval at DHS.

With everything that's been going on lately (not just Frozen--there is so much more), I'm fed up to the teeth with all of it. I plan to speak out the only way that Disney hears...with my money. No idle threats from me...when I say it, I mean it. I'm not going to WDW or feeding the beast in any way until this all settles down and the parks become recognizable to me again.

If that never happens, so be it. My heart will be broken. But lately I've begun to feel like my window of opportunity to walk into the world that Walt built has closed firmly behind me. I'm so, so sad to believe that it's over, but what else can I think at this point?

Thank goodness for YouTube and my classic Disney collection. At least I can look back and remember fondly. Unlike some of these Disney execs, there are people out there who will forever cherish what Walt brought to the world...even if the magic no longer exists for everyone.

Well actually the rumor from micechat who spear headed the rumors of frozen coming to Disneyland and got it all right say that frozen is going there until May of 2015 with the possibility of staying longer. They also say that WDI is supposed to come up with a new muppet show. I expect most of the frozen stuff to end in May 2015 because that is when the big 60th anniversary celebration starts. The frozen sing along is the most likely to stay longer just like it did in DHS, but then again how of the frozen craze will still be there in 2015. I am a muppets fan but the show hasn't been changed in forever. And the sooner everyone learns that Disney is going where the money is and how to get the most people into the parks the better. This is one of those moves, frozen will get people to go there just like it did at DHS. While most of this is about Disney getting the most money possible, I think some of it also has to go the route of what many in Disney have said including Walt. The parks aren't mueseums they are supposed to change. While Disneyland loses their muppets presence for now at least. I can't see DHS losing its muppets presence altogether.

I think a new Muppet show is planned, but even if not, why be so mad at Disney for responding to public desires?

Frozen is a cultural phenomenon and I am sure people call and ask every single day if there is a Frozen show. And while I absolutely love the Muppets and was happy Disney acquired them, their popularity is apparently waning. I hope I'm wrong and the Muppets are around for a very long time, but I won't be made at Disney because fans are clamoring for Frozen.

Hopefully this is a temporary solution while they work on updating the Muppet Vision show. I love the muppets don't get me wrong, but 3D technology has come such a long way since the attraction was first made. The past few times I've seen it the effects seemed sad in comparison with say Mickeys Philharmagic.

Disneyland has very limited space in comparison with Disney World. It makes sense that they would put an attraction that is being refurbished to good use.

When is the last time you were in a Disney park? They have always been, and will always be, a place to promote the latest and past Disney movies and television shows....

I beg to differ that they have always been a place to promote the latest movies. MK and DHS maybe but not necessarily Epcot or AK. A frozen ride would be a much better fit in MK than Epcot but of course it's going to Epcot.

Turtle Talk with Crush, Honey I shrunk the audience, Circle of Life Theater, Finding Nemo the ride, Lion King Show, Finding Nemo the Musical, It's a Bugs Life..... :confused3

 Muppets weren't even created by Disney.

No, but they own them now, just like they own Marvel and Star Wars.

I love the Muppets, but I don't know if I can sit through that show again. It's pretty bad. I might do it one last time, because there are rumors of the DHS one being removed for Star Wars or Pixar or changed.

But then, if they don't satisfy the Frozen demand lots of people will get angry as well  I mean, I totally get where you're coming from, but at the same time, Muppetvision is not that good or successful anymore, and the parks are supposed to evolve constantly.

What people have to accept is that Frozen is now an integral part of the Disney family and it will have presence at Disney parks like it or not. You know these Frozen events are temporary, so why let it ruin your experience? You've never had to like a story to enjoy an attraction. Hey, I don't like Star Wars, Avatar or Muppets, but I'll be there to enjoy them just like anyone else.

I know. I was just thinking if I were in their positions I wouldn't worry too much about the second hand franchise attraction and worry about promoting their own popular creations. :)

That's probably what they are doing:( I'm thawing a little over this Frozen stuff.

Ok but none of those things were pushed through like frozen has been.

I'm my head I keep associating the Frozen overlays as a really long Star Wars weekend type event. I'm sure that things will die down eventually and we will have the singalong or similar show and the Norway pavilion and the meet and greets in 2 parks....I don't mind that castle lighting show changing - these things can't - and won't - stay forever.

Old saying, "Strike while the iron is hot," so you can't really fault them.

I don't fault them I understand what they are doing they would be stupid not too. But what I am saying is nothing like this has ever been seen before this movie is in 3 of 4 WDW parks and most Disney parks around the globe.

I'm not a frozen fan but I am glad to see the end of the muppets they have so had their day.

The idea of classic disney attractions being taken over by Frozen does put a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I liked Frozen and I can totally understand Disney wanting to capitalize on it's popularity, but as someone who places a lot of value in the nostalgia factor that WDW offers me, it hurts to see childhood memories being pushed out of the parks.

I do place a lot of value in new and innovative attractions but when I think of my favourite things to do at Disney I inevitably think about things like Maelstrom, Muppet Vision, and heck, even the country bear jamboree - attractions that may not have been updated in decades but they remind me of my first trip to Disney when I was a kid.

We all connect to Disney in different ways and for different reasons, I can definitely emphasize with the OP, I love my Muppets ;)

Nope...

Here we are again...
A bloated box office and a year long toy craze is NOT a cultural phenomenon

EPCOT had nothing to do with promoting movies...

Neither the original concept nor the themepark that was eventually built.

We've become spoiled and lazy...even in our entertainment
