Hi! I'm hoping that some seasoned vets can help me find a one of the nicer hotels at the value price? We're planning on going to disney in May. There will be 2 adults and 2 children. I'm trying to get as many budget tips in place as possible and I'd love to stay at one of their more upscale hotesl if I can get the right price.

Also, what is the closest hotel to Magic Kingdom? We;ll probably be there for 2 days and Animal Kingdom for 1.

I can't wait to see what you recommend! Thanks in advance.

The most economical choices close to MK would be:

WL
CR (wing room)
FW Cabins

WL and CR are deluxe resorts. The cabins are sort of in a category all their own ;) . I've stayed at all three at different times, and you can usually get the best rates at WL (especially if they still have some standard rooms left).

If you decide to go with a moderate instead, I would pick CSR for location. It is centrally located to both MK and AK, and it has a few amenities the other moderates don't have, like a more extended room service menu.

You might want to consider booking through a Disney travel specialist, like Dreams Unlimited, who will keep an eye out for any discounts you may qualify for. It saves you the stress of having to keep on top of everything.

onsite, that can be a tall order. if you can get comfortable with renting a DVC reservation (i.e. "renting points"), OKW (old key west) or if the children are pretty young, possibly even the AKL (/AKV) or WL (/VWL) might be reasonable options. depends on what you mean by "value price," though.

check the codes/rates board for some ideas. discounts can be hard to find sometimes. most of the deals are offsite, unfortunately.

not sure if you mean the closest "value" hotel (pop or all-stars?) or what. the closest hotels are obviously the deluxe monorail resorts (grand floridian, contemporary and polynesian) with the wilderness lodge also being relatively close. but the monorail resorts are pretty much always going to be a "splurge" rather than a "value."

Even though POP CENTURY is a value hotel, I thought it was very nice. It was clean, the grounds were nice, the pools were nice and the bus transportation was good.

I am staying at PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE this March, this hotel also looks nice, and the grounds look nice. There is a boat ride to Downtown Disney and the pool has a slide. This resort is in the moderate category.

If you want one of the least expensive deluxe hotels, you can book a standard room at the WILDERNESS LODGE. This hotel is very nice, we stayed there a few years ago. The grounds, pool and convenient boat ride to the Magic Kingdom make this a great choice.

Have fun whatever you decide!

Thanks for the responses! I'm not sure what some of the abbreviations for the hotels mean but i'll figure it out! THanks Again!!
