Could someone give me a heads up. What are these books about?

I was really enjoying this book until then. The story is interesting, funny at times and had some good surprises. But making them siblings really annoyed/angered me! I mean they were really attracted to eachother and even kissed. I loved them as a couple, but brother and sister, oh hell no!
Why did the author have to take it in this direction?
I kept waiting for it to all be a lie coming from Valentine. I am seriously considering not reading the next books. Please tell me it will get better. I just can't see how Clary and Jace can be comfortable with eachother and/or ignore their attraction.
I prefer the fluff reads like Marked, etc. Although by the time I read Hunted I was definitely sick of the lingo I was so initially enamored with. 
)
