peeing on the stele to mark my spot! (Ohhh Mrs. the... that one cracked me up!)

I'm only a little over half way through the first book so I probably won't hang around too much so as to avoid spoilers.. but loving it so far!

Oh thank you CP for this thread!!!
Are we allowed to post spoilers? I only read the first book but I am dying to talk about it!!!

***SPOILER ALERT***
Do Not Read Unless You Have Finished Book 1!!!!!!!!!

WTH!!! That's all i could say when I found out Jace and Clary are brother and sister!!!:scared1: I was really enjoying this book until then. The story is interesting, funny at times and had some good surprises. But making them siblings really annoyed/angered me! I mean they were really attracted to eachother and even kissed. I loved them as a couple, but brother and sister, oh hell no!:sad2: Why did the author have to take it in this direction?:confused3 I kept waiting for it to all be a lie coming from Valentine. I am seriously considering not reading the next books. Please tell me it will get better. I just can't see how Clary and Jace can be comfortable with eachother and/or ignore their attraction.

Trust me, I felt the same way after I finished reading Book 1. But don't worry, everything gets better in City of Glass, plus both City of Ashes and City of Glass have WONDERFUL plots, so keep reading!

OK, I'll give in and buy the next 2!
Boy, I'm easy to convince!:rotfl:
I just really enjoyed the book until the end.

well, i'm signing on here even though i just bought the books (one and two, they were sold out of three) but haven't opened them yet.

i am first re-reading 'interview with a vampire' and 'the vampire lestat' (going back to my vampire roots).

then i want to read 'Hunted' from house of night, which i bought yesterday.

I also got the Lord John books by Gabaldon from the library.

then i bought the Night World series and Outlander..

So, i'm slowly going to read eveything from the list from our twilight thread.

I'll read City of Bones right after Hunted.

Please don't forget to mark spoilers for us newbies!!

I love these books. My favorite characters are Alec and Magnus. I don't know if I'm the only one, but I really could NOT stand Clary or Jace for pretty much the entire series. But I actually like them in the epilouge of City Of Glass. xD

I loved Raphael too. I hope they make a movie cause I wanna see him and Alec <3 Also wanna see the personification of Magnus Bane.

CP!!!!! I hated it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OME I HATED IT SO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

***?????????????????????????????????????????????

SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have read bad books and never been so irritated.

for some reason my computer screen is not showing the spoiler text of Desnik but I thought it was hilarious that she did a spoiler text then stopped the spoiler text and in black font said AND THEY WERE BROTHER AND SISTER! :scared1:

:lmao:

Ok, back to the point: Here is my review from goodreads.com

Umm... that ending didn't make a lick of sense to me. The characters did things that were totally out of character. The facts they learned while trying to solve the "mystery" were totally forgotten at the end in order for one of the characters to have a complete change of heart. He would have never done what he did (Jace) if he had 1/2 a brain or 1 ounce of memory. Lame, Lame, LAME.

It was totally unfortunate that the ending was so horrible. I really enjoyed the book but cannot say that I liked it (hence the one star rating due to the hideous-ness of the ending. Without the ending it would have been 3 or 4 stars. But I'm not going to set up some other poor sucker to go through that nightmare!

You need a library card, Missy! :goodvibes

Hey are you guys on goodreads.com?? We have a dis'er/twilighter board.

I tried (very briefly) to read Outlander but I think it was too smart for me. :headache: I prefer the fluff reads like Marked, etc. Although by the time I read Hunted I was definitely sick of the lingo I was so initially enamored with.

OK, I'll give in and buy the next 2!

Ok good.. you read it and let me know. I can't bring myself to do it. But you seem to have hated the first one as much as I did so I'll wait for you to let me know what to do! PM me when you're done. I'm going to let my copy go back to the library. If I have to get it again I'll be 29th in line! :headache:

Could someone give me a heads up. What are these books about?

Here is an explanation from the author's website:

A thousand years ago, the Angel Raziel mixed his blood with the blood of men and created the race of the Nephilim. Human-angel hybrids, they walk among us, unseen but ever-present, our invisible protectors.

They call themselves Shadowhunters.

The Shadowhunters obey the laws set down in the Gray Book, given to them by the angel: their mandate is to protect our world from the interdimensional parasites they call demons, who travel from world to world, razing and destroying everything in their path. Theirs is also the task of keeping the peace among the warring Downworlders: the human-demon crossbreeds we know as warlocks, vampires, werewolves, and faeries.

In their duties they are aided by the mysterious Silent Brothers. Their lips and eyes sewn shut, the Silent Brothers rule over the City of Bones, the necropolis below the streets of Manhattan that holds the dead bodies of slain Shadowhunters. The Silent Brothers keep the archival records of ever Shadowhunter ever born. They also watch over the Mortal Instruments, the three divine objects the Angel Raziel gave to his children. One is a sword. One is a mirror. And the last is a cup.

For a thousand years, the Nephilim have protected the Mortal Instruments. But that was before the Uprising, the civil war that almost tore the Shadowhunters' secret world apart. Though Valentine, the Shadowhunter who started the war, is long dead, the wounds it left behind have never healed.

Fifteen years have passed since the Uprising. It's August in New York; the streets blistering with heat. Rumors run rampant through Downworld that Valentine is back, at the head of an army of Forsaken warriors.

And the Mortal Cup has gone missing...

Sorry, from now on I will write the spoilers in white!

I am getting the 2nd book today. I just gotta have faith that this series gets better because I liked the first book until the end. I am hopping the author redeems herself!:rotfl:

Actually, I just realized you were not using white but you were using the "scroll down to read" effect. :lmao:

It just struck me as funny if you look at it the other way. I don't think the white works anyway because then as soon as people quote/reply then the "white" is highlighted in the new box and you can see it anyway. It's all good! People realize this is non-spoiler proof chat. I don't think you can discuss books without using spoilers anyway.

If we just made the whole thread spoiler proof it would be a pretty boring discussion!

Sorry if I made you feel bad or anything! I was laughing about it (my favorite thing to do.....)

Don't let the ending kill it for you. Trust me, every little plot twist and character has a meaning and purpose. Everything resolves itself within the course of the next two books.

Trust me, I wouldn't say anything like these about books if I didn't mean it. No one was more shocked by the ending than I was.

Well, no spoilers to report! I just want to say that I started reading the 2nd book today and am half way through and it is really good. I am glad I took CP's advice and gave it a chance. Hopefully I will feel that way once I get to the end!

I have read City of bones and City of Ashes And I started reading City of Glass this morning. My daughter Nerdylightbulb finally wore me down and I read it. I really have enjoyed the series a lot and she has even gone as far as to point out who she thinks should play Magnus.

This is her Magnus.
