im wondering what everyones routine is?

i want to come home to a clean house and dont want to do dishes that morning. so im thinking of staying up that night and cleaning the house spotless. then having poptarts in the house to eat in the car on the way to the airport. though only thing is, my kids have never eaten poptarts, so im nervous of how that will go over.

so how about you?

Stop at Mickey D's and get pancakes or egg biscuits.

I clean my house beginning a few days so I am not bombarded with the entire house before leave (but with a 3 year old, yeah right, she can do alot of damage. LOL) For the road, I always bring a snacks, fruit, or pbj sandwiches for breakfast in a Walmart bag so it can be thrown away.

I agree-- the night before we go is probably the cleanest my house will be all summer!!

We're leaving EARLY!! I'm not sure whether we'll eat at home or after we check in at JFK.

Just a suggestion: either try out the Poptarts ahead of time, or get Donuts :)

Yeah, that sounds like my plan also. I just hate coming home with all my dirty wash to a messy house. I will be working on cleaning the house spotless before we leave. I'm thinking that we may eat breakfast somewhere at the airport - don't know about that yet. :confused3

I usually don't sleep very much at all the night before. I am too busy and too excited!

Have Fun!

I'm with you here. I hate coming home to a messy/dirty house and dishes in the sink. I will already have about 5 loads of laundry to do when we get home and unpack. Who wants to clean too?

We usually make sure the house is clean the night before and drive through McDonalds on the way out of town. No dishes, no mess for us.

My tradition is to hard boil eggs a day before our trip. I peel several the night before to be eaten in the morning, with a glass of milk, which finishes up the carton.

We have found this to be more satisfying than anything sugary.

If we have a lot of time at the airport, then we have a bagel or donut there, after getting through security.

macdonalds is a good idea, do they have breakfast food for kids? weve never been there for breakfast. we have to eat on the go, so i the more i think of it, maybe not a good idea for us. we have to be at the airport by 7:30, and none of us are early risers.

my house is never really messy, so its easier for me to do it all the night before. but i hear you about the 3yo. i ahve 3 kids 8,4 and my2yo will be 3 in august. i just dont want to come home to a morning mess that we left because we had to catch a flight, you know?

We will be leaving this Sunday. This is our 1st family vacation and it's a big one. Woo Hoo.

Anyway, I will make sure on Saturday that they house is cleaned. We will be having chinese food for dinner on paper plates lol (childrens request). We will be picked up early in the morning via a shuttle. Once we are at the airport and through security, everyone will get Dunkin' Donuts or something.

thats a great idea, ive really been thinking of quick ways to get some protein in them, so perfect!! they are used to scrambled eggs in the mornings, this may work!

Yes, this is what I will be doing as well. I will be cleaning the day before we leave as we will already be packed. I LOVE coming home to a clean house!

I'm such a neat freak that I even change the sheets right before we leave so that we arrive home to beds with clean sheets on them.

All my cleaning before we leave gives DH a big:headache:

:goodvibes

We rarely eat out for breakfast so I am not sure about the children's meal. I always share with my daughter something easy like pancakes.

We aren't early risers either so usually we have the bag of snacks and a few pbj sandwiches and fruit (not much) because I will be throwing it away so it doesn't sit in the car. ewww yuck imagine the smell after a week. :scared:

I like to take bananas and bagels for the drive to the airport. Very little mess, but most importantly, easy on the stomach. I never like to take chances when we fly and feed everyone (me included) low sugar, high carb foods. So far, so good!

Something else to consider would simply be some dry cereal and/or granola bars.

Good luck!

We're leaving Tuesday morning - at 4 AM! That's the time the limo bus will pick us up (all 16 of us) and take us to the Philadelphia Airport. We usually just stay at the Hilton Airport Hotel the night before but there were just too many of us this trip.

I am planning on finishing all the packing by Friday. Saturday and Sunday are super cleaning days for me (just my luck we always go to Disney in July, and my cleaning people always go to Poland in July!). Monday I have a spa day (getting ready for Disney) so my mom will watch my kids all day. I already told DH we are going out to eat Monday night so there will be no cleaning up. I told the kids to put their sleeping bags on top of their "made" beds so we won't have to worry about that Tuesday morning. I'm sending DH to Wawa to get coffee and juice for everyone for the bus ride and then we'll eat breakfast at the airport.

Can't wait!!!!!

We leave tomorrow at 6pm (after DH gets home from work). I have been so organized with my planning and packing I am afraid I will be sitting around wondering what to do with myself tomorrow while waiting to go to the airport! Actually, I plan to wash sheets, so we have fresh sheets to return home to. I, too, must come home to a clean house, so I arranged for my cleaning lady to come over while we are gone. Plants are watered, wash is done, and I will just need to do last minute "picking up" of toys and what not tomorrow...I plan to get some sub sandwiches to pack for supper in the plane. I am not sure what else to do-the final packing will be done tonight! :cool1:

Why are you nervous about the Poptarts? :confused3 We usually eat at the airport after we check in.

DisneyMomx7, we must be long lost sisters or something! Not only do we live close to eachother (we live in Plainsboro) but we are leaving a week after you on Tues at 4am... we are leaving from Newark though. Of course this means I will be up until atleast midnight packing the last minute stuff (which is most of it!) and then... just like the comercial where the little boy is "too excited to sleep" and so is his dad just before a trip to WDW... I won't fall asleep until 1 or 2am... then I will wake up at 3, check the time... stay awake for a half hour trying to fall asleep... fall asleep and then JUMP out of bed the second the alarm goes off at 3:45 while hubby hits the snooze button making me crazy because we are scheduled to be out the door into the already packed car by 4am. The even crazier thing is I will set 2 alarms to make sure we are up and aren't running late but Lord knows I won't even really need the first alarm... WOW, I'm worse than a kid on Christmas eve when we go to WDW! :rotfl:

I am trying my best to clean the house of clutter but with an 8 week old who crys when he isn't in someone's arms it isn't easy. That said my cleaning lady will be comming while we are gone so I will come home to a nice clean house! I will be making time to get my nails done on Sun or Mon before we leave so they look nice... got the hair appt this Sat. Sooo much to do... so little time!

I take the kids in jammies to the airport. DD, 6 will change into an easy to wear dress in the car at the airport and DS, 2mo will get changed in the airport after security (ugh!). We litterally scoop the kids out of bed into a car seat and off we go. Cuts the time to nearly nothing in the morning. We will be having breakfast at the airport since we will be there 35 minutes after leaving the house at 4 which will give hubby 25 minutes to take the car to the long term parking and meeting up with us where he dropped us off at departures with all the bags.

I know I really sound like a nut after re-reading this .... Can we say "type A personality!" :Pinkbounc
