My daughter and I are going to DL on Oct. 16 for 5 days. Can't wait. We will get there in the afternoon on the 16th and I was wondering can we ride the monorail without a ticket to just look around and to go to the DL Hotels. We are staying at the Tropicana on Harbour across the street. I am excited. Thought about cancelling, but there is no way I am going to disappoint my little girl.

It's been some time since I've ridden the monorail, but unless something has changed, you will have to have a ticket to ride. You must have a ticket or a handstamp to ride the monorail from the hotels. The other station is IN Disneyland and you'd obviously have to pay to get in the park. I'm sorry. You can still check out the hotels and Downtown DIsney without having to pay for anything. It's a good way to get acclimated.

You could spend the afternoon checking out Downtown Disney and the hotels. There's lots of cool places to eat, although they tend to be a little pricey. At night, the Disneyland Hotel has a free show called Fantasy Waters - it's fountains and lights set to Disney tunes. Lasts for about 20 minutes - be a good warm up.

I'm pretty sure if you go to the Disneyland Today area on the web and put in the days you'll be there, it will show the times for Fantasy Waters.

For Fantasy waters, it's usually on a half hour. Usually 7:30, 8:30 and or 9:30. It depends on the time of year what time they have the fanatasy waters. It is in the back of the Disneyland Hotel, by the smaller pool, at the back of the walkway. There they have a sign posted for the times. I think some of the other hotel signs also post the time of the show, but I'm not sure.

The show has lots of disney theme songs, so it's great just to listen to, especially for kids, but there are some older songs that little one's might not know. My sister and I like to list of where the songs are from. Of course we do this walking down mainstreet also. We love it when they play fortuosity and get that song stuck in our heads.
