My oldest DD has had a large mole on her arm since she was a baby. She's been having issues with it, nothing health related. She's been embarassed about it and wore a headband around it last school year. I got her in to a dermatologist today and they removed it today!!
The doc could have shaved it off, but it might have come back. So, we opted for the full removal. My DH stayed home from work today, so I only had the oldest and the youngest with me. So, when she said we can remove it now, I said go for it (cause if we rescheduled, I'd have 5 kids with me). DD did beautifully!! She said the numbing shot felt like fire ants. She saw some of the cutting, but the doc told her to look the other way so it wouldn't bother her. She felt the blood drip down her arm and I don't think she liked that too much. She ended up with 3 stitches, not too bad. She never let her nerves show and stayed calm the whole time. After we left, she said her legs were a little shaky. But, I think she did great. I'm very proud of her!!
She is a little upset, though. Her birthday is Sunday and she was supposed to go to Schilterbahn on Friday, but with the stitches, she has to wait until the 16th. I promised her that we'll go, even if the extended family can't, we'll make sure we get there this summer. Maybe she can have a friend spend the night this weekend.
I'm a little sad. I always loved her mole. But, I'm glad she's happy.
