The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

Hey Glenn! Still trying to get all caught up. I know this is late, but I hope you and your family have a very Happy New Year!!! And may all your Disney and DVC wishes some true!! :thumbsup2

Had originally planned to travel back home today after visiting family, but decided earlier during the weekend to wait until tomorrow (due to the storm and Judy's mom asking us to stay an extra day). It wouldn't have mattered -- there would have been no traveling today! Judy woke up in the middle of the night and I had to find her a bucket from my in-laws basement. Lauren got sick first thing in the morning, but then we learned that she had been up in the night also, laying in the bathroom. I don't know how we missed her during our trips. Marlene and I were queasy all day, and around noon I went to bed until evening. James is the only one in our family who didn't seem to catch it, although he didn't eat much dinner, so I'm hoping it doesn't hit him tomorrow. On the extended family front, it swept through both of Judy's brothers' families as well, and her mom....all today. So it is a very virulent little bug.

Planning on traveling tomorrow. I'm not sure if we'll feel like stopping for a big Austrian meal in State College like I'd planned...we'll see how we feel.

Sorry, I'll reply to your posts in a couple of days when I'm back home and hopefully feeling better.
Man that really stinks being sick at Christmas! Glad you got through it. That meal at the Austrian Bistro sounded really good and a lot of fun!
ETA: Looks like I am the only one still playing along??? Well, Marv has a good excuse, he is eating dinner at Le Cellier right now I think...
Yeah, what is with this? You go for weeks and no updates, and then while I'm away you throw two updates with Judy-do contests in on me??? :confused3 Nothing to be learned by Captain if I try to creatively score points after this long, so I'll just try to catch the next contest. It is time to defrock, uh, dethrone Magdalene of her current win streak! :rotfl2:

Actually Magdalene, we were just about to check in early for our 6:00 ADR. We were getting pretty hungry, and the anticipation of eating at LeCellier had been building all day! :goodvibes
Yup Liessa LOVES to point out our mistakes !!!:lmao::lmao:She and Marv have a field day with Dan and me !!! The best ****oo I ever saw was when another famous Disser was referring to someone's DOG and accidentely put in an "N" :rotfl2:About 10 pages of mirth followed that!!!!:lmao:
:lmao: Glad I wasn't there to get in on that one!!!
Hey Great Biscuit! You won't be disappointed. Boma is one of the best restaurants in WDW. IMHO, of course. ;)
:thumbsup2 I agree! We have done Boma a couple of different times for dinner and we loved it each time! Plenty of choices for the most and least adventurous eaters!
Yeah, she is. Even though she's not on the boards she's heard about many of you. :goodvibes I just have to remember not to say: "they're normal people, just like me" because then I lose my credibility.
Well, except when talking about me, right???
Probably the last week in June. :)
We will probably be back on the end of June/July 4th schedule in 2012 too, so plan wisely. ;)

That's right Jenbear. 2011 will be a year without WDW. But, that means lotsa DVC points in 2012. :cool1:

:sad1: Glenn, you know this means that I will suffer terrible Glenn TR withdrawal. You'll have to stretch this TR until 2012 :rotfl:

Probably the last week in June. :)

That week was on my RADAR too !!! Have to wait for Jordan to be sure :confused3But I may go with that time anyway!!

Do I smell another DIS meet??? Hmmmm June 2012, eh....that could be arranged :scratchin

My sentiments exactly!

Woow....y'all are planning a June 2012? Unfortunately, I'll still be in school. I'll be with you guys in spirit!

It's a good placeholder for now. :)

Some cool kids will be there in October 2012- think F&W and MNSSHP. :rolleyes1

Oh, I'd LOVE to go during F&W...you have no idea! But it's too difficult on the kids to get caught up on their schoolwork if they miss several days, and now Judy's teaching so it's pretty much out of the question. Some day though. Mark my words....it may be decades away, but some day I'll be there during F&W.

You mean my DVC wish where somebody sells me an AKL add-on for $1 and it passes ROFR?

Seriously though, thanks. Happy New Year to the Marvali household too.

Man that really stinks being sick at Christmas! Glad you got through it. That meal at the Austrian Bistro sounded really good and a lot of fun!

Yeah, that was a strange illness and not a lot of fun. But the bistro was! I'm really glad we stopped.

I don't think it was quite "weeks without an update" was it? Well regardless, there's no question you would have won those rounds if you'd been home. Sorry about that.

You're right Magdalene definitely needs some competition to keep her on her toes.

:thumbsup2 I agree! We have done Boma a couple of different times for dinner and we loved it each time! Plenty of choices for the most and least adventurous eaters!

I agree. I love that place. :cloud9:

Well, except when talking about me, right???

Well that goes without saying. ;)

We will probably be back on the end of June/July 4th schedule in 2012 too, so plan wisely. ;)

Do you mean to avoid being there !!!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

That's what I'm taking from it Rosie!

I'm sure there are some on here who'll say that's exactly what I'm doing! :lmao:

Do I smell another DIS meet??? Hmmmm June 2012, eh....that could be arranged :scratchin

Could be. Don't go making firm plans on my account just yet. A lot can change between now and then, but I imagine that's the timeframe we'll shoot for.

Hi Glenn,
Checking back in. Still need to get caught up but I have food narcolepsy from our fondue dinner tonight to celebrate Wendy's birthday. I think I consumed like 30,000 calories so I'm ready for a deep hibernation. :ewok:

I promise to catch up soon after a nice long (yawn) nap.

No worries Derek! Take your time...that's what the Table of Contents is for.

I love food-induced narcolepsy!

Boma coma!!!! :rotfl: It's so appropriate.

My friends and I call our over-stuffedness, having a food baby. My mom doesn't like that term so much....

Day 7 - Part 1

Before I start into Day 7 of our trip, I have to report that I located some previously unknown (to me anyway) trip photos. I forgot that there was another photographer along: Marlene. She had her Kodak point-and-shoot camera along with her, although she didn’t take it into the parks every day. On the afternoon of Day 7, which we haven’t gotten to yet, her memory card got max’d-out and I gave her a spare card of mine and put her old one into my camera bag. Fast-forward six months to Christmas vacation, and I came across that memory card. I checked to see if there was anything on it and whattayaknow…”lost trip photos”. There were also a lot of other pictures, like her doing a fashion show in her room, pictures of a smiley face she’d drawn on her knee, her bedroom doorknob and ceiling fan (I’m not making this up). In other words, lots of things that if they weren’t there, they would’ve left plenty of room on the memory card for “real” pictures. But I digress.

So, here are some of Marlene’s photos up to this point of the trip, which I found interesting or at least different from pictures I took.

These first few are from the PChef evening at DHS. I can tell it was taken as we first arrived because I see “KRNR” sign of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, which is where we entered the park. Also, I see that there are people with PChef badges hanging around their necks. Anyway, Marlene took a picture of a Japanese Streetmosphere lady who was wearing PChef bamboo products: bowls and spoons and salad serving tongs.

101_1223.jpg

I didn’t even see this lady! In this picture you can see that she’s using five sets of tongs as a fan. Okaaaaay. Good imagination!

101_1224.jpg

Marlene took a couple of pictures of the Rocker dudes, like I did.

101_1225.jpg

I like this one better than what I took.

101_1226.jpg

Here’s a rare photo; it’s of yours truly and was not taken by a Photopass photographer. I think this was during our marathon bus trip from Wilderness Lodge to Animal Kingdom Lodge via Downtown Disney. It’s good to see that some able-bodied soul got up so that I could get a “Priority Seat”.

101_1245.jpg

And this next one shows Glennbo in action, taking a picture of DeVine.

101_1255.jpg

If you remember from earlier in the trip report, I was lining up this shot:

And she took a picture of some blue baboon butt too.

So there you have it – the lost vacation photos. Now onto Day 7, Friday, June 18th.

I was up and dressed by 7am, but the rest of my crew was still sawing logs despite getting to bed relatively early the night before. After making myself some coffee, I decided to walk around Kidani and take some pictures.

I started with a picture of a Kidani hallway. But this wasn’t any hallway. It was the hallway where construction was going on last year when I took a similar walking photo-tour and a construction worker sent me back.

IMG_3577.jpg

This time I was able to walk all the way to the end of the building. Man, those hallways are long. I’m glad our room was close to the lobby.

From there, I walked out to the pool. Cool! They have a ping pong table out there now.

IMG_3578.jpg

Here’s the bridge where the slide empties into the pool. It’s such a focal point for the pool.

IMG_3579.jpg

Then I took a few pictures of the little tykes section of the water play area. Obviously, my kids are too old for this area, but last year I had some readers ask me about this section and I hadn’t taken any pictures to show them. Now I have some.

IMG_3580.jpg

IMG_3581.jpg

This would be such a nice place to sit and relax while your toddler has fun climbing and playing.

IMG_3582.jpg

Now cue the James Bond spy music. Ding dinga ding ding, ding ding ding ding dinga ding ding, da da da dah da, da da daaaa.

I had to go over to the water guns and get some pictures like Jenbear took.
smiley_bond.gif

How about some new movie titles, like:

“Dr. H2O”

IMG_3583.jpg

“The Man with the Aquatic Gun”

IMG_3584.jpg

Or “The Spy Who Lavaged Me”

IMG_3585.jpg

I was disappointed though to see that one of the water guns was broken. Disappointed that people have to play rough with these things and ruin them, and also that Disney hadn’t fixed it. I assume they’re all working now, but I wonder how long it took before it was repaired.

Continuing on my walk, I went up the steps and took a picture of the reservoir that feeds the waterfall in the water play area.

IMG_3586.jpg

Then I went and took a picture of my favorite on-property bathroom, which is across from the exercise room.

IMG_3588.jpg

That’s my elbow you can see in the mirror. There were no other patrons in there.

Here are some candle-looking lights in the entryway, as I re-entered the lobby.

IMG_3590.jpg

These windows are at the back of lobby. The steps on the left lead down to Sanaa and an outside animal viewing area.

IMG_3593.jpg

I’ll venture down those steps in a moment, but first here are some rocking chairs overlooking the savanna.

IMG_3595.jpg

Here’s the animal viewing area that juts out into the savanna.

IMG_3596.jpg

These masks are behind the TV in the lobby where kids can watch cartoons while their parents check-in.

IMG_3598.jpg

The one on the right looks like it hasn’t awoken yet.

IMG_3599.jpg

I walked down the steps and went out to the animal viewing area. Here, you can see where our room was. It was in the first section on the right…see it?

IMG_3601.jpg

Yeah, I’m not sure which one it was either.

There weren’t many animals out at this early hour. Just this bird, who was enjoying the easiest game of “King of the Mountain” ever.

IMG_3602.jpg

I talked for a little while with a cast member from Africa, who was stationed out at the animal viewing area. While talking, I thought I should take the obligatory photo of the lobby window.

IMG_3603.jpg

Then I went back inside. This proverb is written on the wall outside of Sanaa. Ain’t it the truth!

IMG_3606.jpg

And here’s Sanaa. They don’t serve breakfast, but it looks ready to go once lunchtime rolls around.

IMG_3607.jpg

Okay, I’d gotten reqcquainted with my home away from home and taken some nice pictures, but had I killed enough time for my family to get out of bed and get ready for some park action?
