The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

Oh WOW, I didn't even realize you took all of these pictures. I'm going to save the one's I don't have already! I love the one of DH & DS playing pool.

Yep, I didn't want to look like too much of a stalker, but took a few pictures. You're welcome to them. Let me know if you want high-res versions and I can e-mail them to you.

I have the couple of pictures that Marlene took with my camera as well. Let me go look them up and I'll post them!

I forgot that she took some with your camera.

It was so good getting to meet all of you too. It's nice when you get to share a bit of your trip with friends.

Couldn't agree more!

We had so much fun at Typhoon Lagoon that day. DS's swimming lessons right before the trip really paid off! He slid down some big water slides and showed no fear. :goodvibes We had a system, though because I'm a nervous mom!! I went down first, then DS and then DH came down behind him. :thumbsup2 Worked like a charm. Myself and DH felt better about it and DS felt like he was "doing it by himself".

Ok enough rambling. Let me go get those pictures........

That's awesome....waterslides are so much fun, as long as they dare to try them. I'm glad he did.

Here are the 2 group pics....

5277173293_dfaed8fc82_z.jpg

Those are good too. Thanks for posting them!

We hope to catch up with you guys on another trip to WDW too! We enjoyed AKV but next time I will be requesting a room closer to community hall / the lobby. Our walk was EXTREMELY long to get to the lobby area.

Yes, that's where you want to be. I imagine the word's getting out though, and they may become harder to get.

Oh and I forgot to tell you about the lounge chair rental section at Typhoon Lagoon. How do ya like the name???
5277783124_328de8e08a_z.jpg

I love that name! I didn't see that when I was there. It'd be even better as "Glenn's Getaway", but I'll accept it as is.

I believe we rented the chairs for about $40-$50 for the day. You get 2 lounge chairs, 2 regular chairs an umbrella and a small table. Plus, they are all set up in this handy dandy private section of the park! We plan on doing it again next time! :thumbsup2
That looks great. I definitely need to do that next time. I don't know how I missed that....I remember reading about more expensive options, but not $40-$50.
Great update Glenn! Sorry I haven't made an appearance on here in a while. Life has been CRAZY. It's that time of year....
No worries Jen! These posts will still be here when you have time. I wish you well in dealing with all of the crazy things life is throwing you these days.
Anyways I love the picture you took on EE. You always catch people making the worst facial expressions when they're not expecting it. I have one that will be coming up in my TR (if I ever get to it...)
Which one...the upside-down one? :upsidedow

Looking forward to the one coming up in your TR...do you think you'll have time for an update over the holidays?
And just in case I don't get the chance later.....

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!
Thank you! Same to you and Bubba and family Jen. I'll probably have a general "Merry Christmas" post when we get closer.

Hi Glenn, I just wanted to say that I am still around and reading along - I just lack the time to comment properly! And it is not because I am dissappointed that I seem to be too late for Judy counts all the time... :rolleyes1

I am really intrigued by Community Hall - definitely need to check that out on my next trip since I am a DVC member now! However, it sounds like the thing that might interest me most would be the DVD rental. Do they have a decent selection there?

Don't give it another thought....it's a busy time.

It's more geared toward kids. I probably wouldn't be drawn to it if we were on an adults-only trip. It's really great for them though, considering there are lots of other places for toddler-aged tykes, to have something focused on the little older age group.

I guess I'd give the movie rental a mixed review. The selection is decent, mostly Disney movies, but not just cartoons. You can see the list in a binder at Community Hall (or the store?). I think the list is 2 or 3 pages long. However, I'd seen almost all of them. As a DVC member, the rental is free. We got a movie in 2009 for the kids when Judy and I went on a date night, but they ended up just watching TV instead. In 2010, they told us not to bother, they'd just watch TV.

Do you think you can come up with a way to scam the system that Marv hasn't already tried? Oh silly, silly Captain.

Darn. I thought it was clever. It was just bothering me that I still have zero points.

But in my case, I didn't think the heavy stuff would come down for quite some time. ;)

Good one! :thumbsup2

So as a fellow Canon Rebel XSi geek, I have to ask...did you get up for the eclipse last night?

I thought for sure I had commented on your last update already. Maybe the Mods thought I was a phantom poster and deleted it! Woefully behind on everyone's threads right now, so don't take it as a personal slight. You know I would tell you if it was..... :rotfl:

Apparently since Expedition Everest had been out of operation for a while, everyone who had been holding fastpasses for the last couple of hours had descended upon it at the same time. It was kind of funny to watch people arrive at the entrance door, and then to follow their eyes tracing the line in search of the end. They all had a look of disbelief (as I’m sure we did) when they realized what the situation was.

Well, we didn’t think that this was what “fastpass” was all about, so we sure didn’t want to wait in that huge line. I think one of the kids suggested that we try the Single Rider line again since it worked so well in the morning, so we got out of line and went to the Single Rider entrance.
I'm sure if you had lots more time you wouldn't have made that rookie mistake of trying to use your FPs right after the ride had been down a while! Nice move on the jump to light spe....uh, single rider!!! :thumbsup2
I guess I wasn’t able to get a shot with Marlene in the picture, being turned around on a speeding rollercoaster and all. I’ll have to work on that.
Man, you are just crushing that high esteem I normally hold you in. And right here at Christmas!!!:sad2:
We reached the top and I took yet another picture of the broken tracks. I don't have enough of these in my stockpile of photos.

IMG_3525.jpg
You can NEVER have too many of those!!!
I looked around and thought to myself, “What haven’t I taken a picture of up here yet?” Then I saw these yeti footprints in the snow.

IMG_3526.jpg
Nice!!! I think I have noticed those before but I will definitely have to focus on them this trip!
Those footprints have to be a little scary to young riders who might be wondering if the yeti could be real. Good job imagineers!
Nah, they are like the rest of us......too busy freaking out about those broken tracks ahead.....:rotfl2:
Let’s see if I’ve gotten any better at taking pictures while riding a speeding rollercoaster in the last couple of minutes.

IMG_3528.jpg

Nope, guess I haven’t improved.
One of your better terrible efforts!!! ;)
Lauren.

IMG_3530.jpg

Marlene (2nd row, left side).

IMG_3532.jpg
Love the way Lauren and Marlene both have that semi-raised "not quite sure if I want my hands too far away from being able to grab on" position!
I didn't notice it while we were there, but now looking at these pictures, it looks like I captured "The Amazing, Headless Monkey". Hmmm, didn't I take a picture of an Okapi with too many legs earlier in the day? Does anyone know if Disney is on nuclear power?
I once had a cartoon that came out not long after TMI where these two women were chatting, with the nuclear plant in the background, and one was holding her young son by the hand. The one lady says to the other "I see Billy has grown a foot since I saw him last." Billy had the lower part of a leg, ankle and foot included, growing out of the top of his head. :rotfl:
I like the way you checked all possibilities for locating that head. I've worked with some people where that would have been the proper search angle.....:rolleyes1
We still had 2 extra fastpasses, so I told James to look for a group of 2 people in the standby line. He found 2 girls who were very happy to accept the fastpasses and they scooted under the rope to speed down the fastpass lane behind us.
Not surprised when my DSs opt to be generous with girls in line! Kudos to James for learning so young!!! I would say "A chip off the old block" but that might damage what little cred I have around here!!! :lmao:
We trudged our way back through the fastpass lane and went back to the fountain, which is under cover, to wait the storm out with hopes that it would be one of those Florida 10-minute showers.
That would have been my guess too!!!
I remembered that I still had our original Expedition Everest fastpasses that we’d gotten early that morning and thought that maybe I could provide someone with a little pixie dust by offering them. I told the kids to look for people entering the park who looked like they might be candidates for a thrill ride. We actually had trouble finding someone, since most people were leaving the park. As we got to Discovery Island I passed a guy going the opposite direction and I said, “Hey, would you like some fastpasses for Expedition Everest?” His immediate reply was, “How much?”
Funny how we try to be good DISers and spread Pixie Dust and people always seem to question the motives. Had the same type problem before too!:sad2:
Once under cover, I thought I’d take a picture to give you a feel for the moment. Has anyone else experienced this at Disney? Yeah, I thought so.

IMG_3539.jpg
Nope, Never!!!
A little bit later I got a text from Cherie (BlueyedGirl on the DIS) that she and her family were in Community Hall, so Judy and I went down to meet them.
IMG_3544.jpg

IMG_3545.jpg
For a blueyed girl, she sho do have some red eyes!!! ;)
Cherie, her husband and son are a wonderful family and we really enjoyed talking with them.
DISmeets are almost always great, aren't they!!?!!
Up next: Boma…need I say more?
Well yes you do, and SOON! Might be my last chance to score some Where's Judy-do points for a while.....
Do you think you can come up with a way to scam the system that Marv hasn't already tried? Oh silly, silly Captain.
So does this mean I can add "Supreme Where's Judy Contest Point Scammer of the Universe by glennbo123" to my siggie???
Like you said, I think they're just trying to quickly get their post count up. I had another one on here about a week ago, and Marv had one a couple of days before that. I don't know what their intentions are after they get their post count up.
Right after my experience I think somebody said they get enough privileges that they can spam whatever they are trying to promote, or just plain wreak havoc!
As a DVC member, the rental is free. We got a movie in 2009 for the kids when Judy and I went on a date night, but they ended up just watching TV instead. In 2010, they told us not to bother, they'd just watch TV.
That, or like mine, spend the whole time in Community Hall!!!
Yep, I didn't want to look like too much of a stalker, but took a few pictures.
Good to see you're trying to turn over a new leaf since your trip the year before!!! :rotfl2:
Here are the 2 group pics....

Those are good too. Thanks for posting them!
Two Judy's! (In your thread, in a new post, not counted by anyone else before!!!)

Darn. I thought it was clever. It was just bothering me that I still have zero points.

You really shouldn't let it bother you. But I guess I understand, since on days I predicted you'd put up a new post I was like: :hyper:

So as a fellow Canon Rebel XSi geek, I have to ask...did you get up for the eclipse last night?

No. I saw that the best viewing time was going to be between 2 and 4am, and I was like, "Why the heck are the best lunar eclipses always at night?" :confused3 Who's idea was that?

I thought for sure I had commented on your last update already. Maybe the Mods thought I was a phantom poster and deleted it! Woefully behind on everyone's threads right now, so don't take it as a personal slight. You know I would tell you if it was..... :rotfl:

No problem. I'm not offended. It's hard to stay up on everyone's threads right now.

I'm sure if you had lots more time you wouldn't have made that rookie mistake of trying to use your FPs right after the ride had been down a while! Nice move on the jump to light spe....uh, single rider!!! :thumbsup2

That would've been a major rookie mistake. We're not falling for that!

Man, you are just crushing that high esteem I normally hold you in. And right here at Christmas!!!:sad2:

This is the first I've heard of it! :rotfl:

Nice!!! I think I have noticed those before but I will definitely have to focus on them this trip!

Oh, I'm confident that you'll spot 'em now that you've seen this picture.

One of your better terrible efforts!!! ;)

"Better terrible" as in more terrible or not-so-terrible? I think more terrible.

Love the way Lauren and Marlene both have that semi-raised "not quite sure if I want my hands too far away from being able to grab on" position!

You're right, a quick grab onto the lap bar is still an option in an emergency.

:rotfl:

We drive by 3-Mile Island on our way across the state to visit the parental units. We can see the cooling towers from the highway. Have yet to see any 2-headed animals.

Not surprised when my DSs opt to be generous with girls in line! Kudos to James for learning so young!!! I would say "A chip off the old block" but that might damage what little cred I have around here!!! :lmao:

Yes, I had a feeling that he would happen to find some pretty young girls to give those fastpasses to. :cool2:

Funny how we try to be good DISers and spread Pixie Dust and people always seem to question the motives. Had the same type problem before too!:sad2:

It takes all kinds, I guess.

Nope, Never!!!

I'd say that you were meteorologically fortunate, but I can't say that -- I can only type it. And I also know that you were being sarcastic.

For a blueyed girl, she sho do have some red eyes!!! ;)

Now there's not that much red eye in that photo.

DISmeets are almost always great, aren't they!!?!!

Almost always. :rolleyes1

Well yes you do, and SOON! Might be my last chance to score some Where's Judy-do points for a while.....

Hmmm, I haven't worked on an update in a while. I'm on vaca. this week and running a lot of errands and whatnot.

So does this mean I can add "Supreme Where's Judy Contest Point Scammer of the Universe by glennbo123" to my siggie???

Is that really a title you want?

Right after my experience I think somebody said they get enough privileges that they can spam whatever they are trying to promote, or just plain wreak havoc!

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together...mass hysteria!

Two Judy's! (In your thread, in a new post, not counted by anyone else before!!!)

See Captain...that's how it's done. :sad2:

Glenn, a Merry Christmas to you and your family!! I hope you will have a wonderful time together during the holidays! :santa:

FINALLY, I'm caught up! Sorry I've been behind - with all the papers I've been writing lately, I haven't had time to read much beyond research. :guilty:

For the record, I really enjoyed the many pictures of the Nemo show... because i may never get to see it in person! Leo just about pitches a fit any time it's suggested. I don't get it. :confused3

Hope your holidays are treating you well!

Just wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas, Glenn, Judy and Gang!! Hope you enjoy each moment together today and that your time with each other holds special meaning and memories!

Thank you Magdalene! We are having a joyous time. I'm still planning on having lunch at that Austrian bistro in a few days...I just had the thought this morning that I need to remember to take pictures.

FINALLY, I'm caught up! Sorry I've been behind - with all the papers I've been writing lately, I haven't had time to read much beyond research. :guilty:

Yay! Glad you're caught up V! I hope you're getting a break from all of that work over the holidays.

For the record, I really enjoyed the many pictures of the Nemo show... because i may never get to see it in person! Leo just about pitches a fit any time it's suggested. I don't get it. :confused3

Hope your holidays are treating you well!

Oh good. Glad you liked 'em! Just drag Leo in there someday; tell him it's a "cooling break".

The holidays are indeed treating me well V. :)

Just wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas, Glenn, Judy and Gang!! Hope you enjoy each moment together today and that your time with each other holds special meaning and memories!

Oh thanks Liesa! We are enjoying these days with extended family and it's been great. I hope your Christmas is full of joy also.

Merry Christmas Glen & Family.

I am now caught up. Took the short cut.:lmao:

I don't do Everest but every time I do I get nervous that the kids will get stuck up there. My grandson went on in July (he is 5) and my daughter touched the top of his head when they got by the Yetti so now he thinks the Yetti got him.

Loved the pics of the artifacts and masks. Some of the masks are kind of cool and creepy at the same time to me.

Love the giraffe pic.

Great updates.
