The Cast:
Me MKFan-PR, 37. Absolutely, 100%, government-certified WDW freak. Enthusiast doesnt quite cut it. Fell in love with the place since the first time my parents took me when I was 5.
DW, 41. Married with me for 11 years. Guess where weve gone on vacation for most of them? Doesnt like thrill rides but loves strolling, window shopping and dining on Epcot.
DD, 6. Well call her Cookie (my pet nickname for her). This trip is supposed to be celebrating her good grades and performance in 1st grade at school (at least thats what I tell people!
). Shes been dreaming about it since I mentioned the possibility way back in October.
Our previous installments:
Day 1: Were here!...Our bags will follow shortlyhttp://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=893532http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=893532

Day 3-7/31: MK, ducks, and the grilled MKFan Family
Another blissful morning for watching the time on the alarm clock, smiling, and telling him I dont have to listen to you
We start with what would become our morning routine Freshening up, some breakfast thanks to Daddys room service and watching Kim Possible on Toon Disney
You can tell Im well aware of what my DD sees on TV, when I know who is Ron Stoppable and Señor Senior Senior
and that Señor Senior Seniors voice is Ricardo Montalbans
GOOD GOD!... I NEED SOME ESPN, PLEASE!!!!
After setting up a late lunch AR at LTT, and with Cookies mister fully recharged with ice, we leave the comfort of POFQ room 3240, to head to our favorite park MK!
To and from MK, POFQ has its own bus, so the trip is even smoother. In no time were off and through security. Since its close to 11:30 again, the sun is starting to feel like a George Foreman grill.
We look for our tile, purchased way back in 94 on my first trip with DW ( way back in 94 never thought that so much time has gone by
), so that we can take our traditional picture of the tile and our feet (weird, I know; but actors put their hands and feet in cement and its an honor and people take pictures, so why cant we take a picture of our feet and a tile that has our name? After all, I paid for it
)
So now were in and with maps in hand, we enter the Main Street plaza and
POOF! Im instantly 9 years old! As we stroll through Main Street we look at the castle and its just beautiful. Im a fan of the MK and the castle (NO! Really? With the ID MKFan? Who knew?
). I wasnt a big fan of the Cake castle for the 25th (please dont start THAT debate
), but this decoration is very nicely done. I notice that the castle shown in the front display is the one from Tokyo Disneyland...
, then it changes
Oh! So it shows all the different castles!... Ooops
We go through the castle and into Fantasyland. Peter Pan is full, with line spilling out, so we get a FP and head for the newly renovated IASM. Less than 10 minutes later, were in and it looks very nice and spiffy. Since its not time for our FP yet, we go on to the Carousel, then bypass Snow White and Pooh, both of which are stuffed with people like Thanksgiving turkeys, straight through to Mickeys ToonTown. We look at Mickeys and Minnies houses, where Cookie enjoys playing with the stuff in Minnies kitchen. After the required visit to Mickey in the judges tent, Cookie heads out to play on Donalds boat and rides with daddy in the Barnstormer (Goofys plane to her). In here she gets a little scared on the climb, and after the short ride, relieved that its over, she says after we climb out: You know what the best part was? When it ended!
Then she smiles and tells me.. Im kidding daddy!
After getting some pressed pennies (an inexpensive souvenir that we discovered that she loves in a previous trip), we go to the Mad Tea Party where Cookie and I proceed to spin Mommy dizzy. DW loves it when do this to her. Her comment: Whooo! Feels like I had 2 pitchers of Sangria!!
As the time for our FP and the AR for LTT approaches, we walk back through Fantasyland. Pooh and Snow White are still packed like FedEx trucks, so we stop at PhilharMagic. Excellent!. Cookie loves it. Plus she reminds me to get The Little Mermaid on DVD when we get home! We then go straight for PPF with our FP. Awesome, as always. One of our favorites.
Now to LTT for our late lunch. The Clam Chowder is good (though not as great as the one from Columbia Harbour House), the food is only so-so. Cookie doesnt like her Mac & Cheese (totally unexpected since she usually inhales the stuff). Water in WDW, according to DW, tastes like fireworks, so she orders bottled water, but with that comment, my Lemonade tastes like Im drinking a glass of Wishes. Not our best meal, but the place is redeemed by the excellent service.
As we exit the Parade is just starting and we get a nice spot right by the restaurant. Cookie loves it and is thrilled to finally see Cinderella. We head out to Frontierland, where as we start to head to Splash M, it goes down with technical difficulties
. Since BTMRR is at 50 minutes with no FPs
, we climb aboard the RR, for a round trip. After we return, SpM is up and running, but the wait is 60 minutes. Lets see, rotisserie family for 60 minutes
Nope. Not apealling at all. SO we continue on to Adventureland, where the classic (and air conditioned!) POTC awaits. We enter through the left queue, where I havent gone in years. Cookie is a bit nervous, but I assure her that this is mostly bone people (her term for skeletons and skulls) and Old San Juan (the fortress that fires on the ship looks like the Morro Castle in Old San Juan). After the first drop, everythings fine, and she enjoys the ride, remembering that the dog with the keys was in the movie.
After were out, we do the Magic Carpets and the Jungle Cruise with very little wait. The Jungle Cruise skipper (and the CMs manning the attraction at the time), were really into it despite the nuclear-reactor heat. (See? This is whats lacking in the GMR in MGM). The kids in the boat had a lot of fun.
Since we now feel like birds being roasted in a Ron Popeil commercial, we stop by Aloha Isle to get some pineapple juice, floats and soft drinks. Very refreshing, although we prefer the pineapple juice we get at home. The float and pineapple soft serve were fantastic, though (and with the heat, the quality rises up by a factor of 1.25!). After resting a few minutes, Cookie spots Timon and Rafiki nearby and gets their autograph. The two characters play around with her mister and with her, and theyre very funny.
We head out to the hub and notice a whole flock of ducks on the other side of the fence. A couple was feeding them and gave Cookie some seeds and breadcrumbs to give them (I didnt know if we werent supposed to, but I didnt see any signs either dont jump on me!
). Suddenly other ducks nearby see whats going on and its like
Hey guys! Look! People! With food! and they come running... actually they waddled real fast. It looked like Rope Drop with ducks. After they eat what you give them, they look at you like... Thats it? Cmon, I know youve got more! Cmon, give it up! Dont look at him, look at me!
After the feeding frenzy, we cross over to Tomorrowland, where we grab a FP for Buzz, and ride the Comfy TTA with no wait. As we exit, it starts to rain, and since the COP is open, we head to the classic for cover. Cookie is amazed by the revolving theater (just like me when I was little). I doze off and feel like Rip Van Winkle. One day the guy is talking about sarsaparilla (what in the world is that?), and when I wake up the oven is being programmed by voice! Hope I didnt snore
The rain has let up and its now nice and refreshed. Since its only about 2.5 hours away, we decide to stay for Wishes. We now use our FP for Buzz, where Cookie drives wile Mommy and Daddy shoot the bad guys. I win again, but had to rally to beat DW. Hmmmm shes getting good
Since the wait time for Space M is now in the Triple Digits, we decide to grab some lunch at Cosmic Rays. I have no idea what we ordered (shouldve written it down in the PassPorter). Looks like the food was that memorable.
After that we walk towards Main Street, to get some ice cream (superb and huge; when DW saw the single scoop cone she went like this
). We then find a nice little piece of curb with a decent view of the castle for Wishes. Again, the night is cool and very comfortable.
Wishes, as usual, is fantastic. And, as usual, we watch Cookies face at the same time I watch the show. These are the moments that, for different reasons, both her and us will treasure for a lifetime.
My hope is she becomes a WDW-freak like me, and takes me with her when she takes her DH and kids.
The circle of life First you parents pay, then you pay, then your kids pay
We exit while people are lining up for Spectro. This allows us to catch a bus back to POFQ without much of a wait. Nice shower to get rid of the grill marks, and off to bed. After the ladies fall asleep, I watch a little TV, then I stick my tongue out to the alarm clock... Ill wake up when I feel like it, and theres nothing you can do about it!...
Tomorrow AK and the sautéed MKFan Family
Stay Tuned!
